Preeeeeetty sure most people in the FGC would give you a strange look if you said “Hey calling someone X racial slur is okay but don’t be sexist or transphobic!”
Minor people in the scene. When I mentioned they shouldn’t be involved with the FGC, I’m not implying it’s anyone of import. That and I don’t snitch on people for being morons, unlike others.
Yeah I wasn’t actually asking for names, just if people believed that narrative was being pushed in the twitlonger post (which is just as silly as the narrative itself).
In that case, nobody’s actively pushing the narrative. It’s not brought up as much as it used to since as much as I loathe the “agree to disagree” ideology this is a case where mutual friendships were on the line.
No one’s saying it outright, but people tend to get suspicious when you’ve got a community that talks as much as shit as the FGC does and you never make a peep for years, but suddenly someone makes an offhand comment about a transgender person and suddenly the FGC is the most toxic place ever and something absolutely must be done RIGHT NOW.
Obviously we all care about some issues more than others but that just makes it all the more important that you clearly state what your motivations are. If you’re all for transgender rights or you want to support the transgender side of the dispute specifically, go ahead and say it and don’t try to suddenly making it some overarching general issue with bad behavior or bullying in the FGC or whatever. To be honest it’d probably lend more credence to your argument if you’re clearly taking a side than if you just take a vague pulpit.
Not that I approve of the article having been posted, but if it had been written in this light, and stated as an opinion article instead of empirical fact, then I would have far less to bitch about.
