I also find it kind of funny/pathetic that there are people out there (mainly the people who made the decision) who are actually applauding one of the dumbest things that’s happened on SRK
they also follow it up with the absolutely coolest response of “lalala we’re not listening to you because we’re right and you’re wrong”
I love this topic, since it reminds me how great the FGC is.
No, I’m not being facetious, it’s funny how minor the drama is with the FGC while other communities with “esports” titles have way worse to deal with but sweep it under the rug with their Kotaku broom like if nothing happened.
Yea, it’s nothing new, a individual who believes they are special due to heavy modifications on their bodies is seeking justice for such a piety insult. Everyone deals with this all the time regardless of race or whatever you are. Just be glad it hasn’t escalated severally like in other said communities.
And FYI, if you believe there is a “serious issue” among the community, fuckin say what it is.
“Uhhh… someone said something bad, and it should be fixed or we’re all doomed.”
“Well, what did they say?”
“SOMETHING BAD! OKAY!!”
ignore po pimpus hyperventilating in the corner, his hand on his kitchen knife, ready to attack the invisible hordes of sjws that constantly assault his house
Ludwig Van didn’t say what she said due to that one incident, she said that because apparently DC has a history of doing things like that (though not many people have bothered explaining that history).
The article is as obscure as a five year old reading Kant while walking through the scene of an Escher painting. He didn’t fully understand the situation himself but pulled the trigger so fast you would have thought SRK was a stand-your-ground state. Apparently nobody is supposed to call this guy a scumbag for throwing the entire community under the bus without even having the common courtesy of telling us what the problem was.
Again, those claims are only based on personal discretion of said individual. Even you have a shot at accusing Bill Cosby of rape and successfully slander his reputation.
Funny thing about DC is that I, too, used to hear all kinds of stories about him and how he is supposedly “crazy”. I met him and hung out with him a good deal over the NEC weekend and immediately saw that he is actually more level, personable and intelligent than the overwhelming majority of behaviorally dysfunctional FGC.
I’m aware that DC’s “batshit insane” rep has probably been overblown, I’m just saying that LV was not moved to do this because “Lol DC asked an innocent question now she’s got her SJW friends to go on a crusade against him”.
Being someone involved in the AniFGC, DC has done some uh… dumb things, but said some things were not out of malicious intent. Definitely not things to get him banned from venues, IMO. The incident at NEC was a catalyst for the twitlonger post, not the sole reason. Like I said before, the purpose of the twitlonger/guest “article” was to just say “hey there are some dumb asses in the FGC and they should be dealt with”, not “FGC is full of scumbags” like some people have assumed. Lack of info can be the cause of that, but even after said info has been reviewed some people are still flipping their shit like SJW are going to shut down fighting game tournaments (which most of GD don’t even go to, let’s be honest here).
If that’s not the sole reason, then what other misdeeds had he done to the author of that post? Otherwise, it comes off as a whiny, passive aggressive bitch refusing to take up for themselves with the proper avenues.
Actually, even IF there’s a long list of misdeeds, it still sounds like a whiny, passive aggressive bitch refusing to take up for themselves with the proper avenues, because something should’ve been done at NEC to nip this in the bud.
It really feels like a lose/lose situation whether you include details or not. More background information could have led to people understanding “yeah that’s not ok”. The thing with having details on what happened to the individuals is that 100% of the focus immediately is directed to the individuals rather than trying to address the underlying problem. Either Ludwig would be branded a “whiny, overly sensitive individual”, or DC would be pointed at and isolated for being the problem. I think the article is trying to do a good thing. I want everyone to feel comfortable at FGC events. I do wanna hear what more TO’s think about this situation.
Even though I think having details on the people involved is missing the point of the article, comments should have been open instead to discuss the circumstances in which people they care about can feel uncomfortable, and when this should be addressed. The point the article is trying to address is that there’s an underlying culture of complacency, or “well, shit happens what can you do”, and getting that kind of response when someone legitimately feels harassed or uncomfortable is very discouraging.
We all read the article and its a vague complaint that seems more like a personal dispute then a legitimate problem. It didn’t deserve the front page nor its own topic because from all indications it was literally just some special snowflake complaining that…I dunno I guess the staff didn’t listen to them or something. Next time this person should at least try to make a coherent point and if possible act like a adult if a similar situation should happen again.
I’m probably gonna get in trouble for saying this.
Most of the videos that come in through the tipline are usually filter by the editorial staff before us writers get to see them, so I have no idea if any stuff of yours that’s sent in is just not pushed through to us. There was a change once Keits left in terms of how many videos we put on the front page, so I don’t know if it’s just because of that, or if it’s something else.
That said, if you want, just PM me your stuff and I’ll see if I can get it on the front page. I mean, that’s already how some of the other folks (especially from some of the other communities like DOA and Skullgirls) get their stuff in.
There’s no way you’ll get in trouble for shit anymore since the vast majority of the people who in SRK don’t give two shits about the front page. Which basically means all the catty shit that went into running it matters to nobody. Its still funny how little you guys get to actually write unless you aren’t a couple of random names. Oh well.
Why is it that whenever something has to do with gender problems and the people that have them it is spoken of or written of in a very vague and obscure way that generally only attempts to spat influence on the emotions?
