Everyone should just chill out, go on not being shit to each other, make a mental note that asking a transsexual about whether they possess a dick is generally a no-no if you didn’t know that already (and if you’re upset you can’t ask that, honestly ask yourself why you need to know) and stop painting that DC guy as this evil dude looking to harass anyone who he doesn’t see as normal or Nicky as the trojan horse looking for something to offend her so she can let the SJW invasion in that’ll kill all banter/shit-talking in the community. They’re just people.
With regards to the article, yeah people should look out for their friends being dicks (because often they don’t realize they’re being dicks), but TOs really can’t and shouldn’t be given the duty of conducting their own mini trial around he said she said shit, most of the thread is right when they say the majority of that should be settled as adults who communicate to each other.
Some of you guys ITT acting like fighting games are some macho deathmatch need to dial it back a bit, you’re still just doing some video game nerd shit you enjoy.
I personally know both. DC would have recognized her since she does not look all that difference since transitioning.
I dunno about stalking though. When you have a friend that you can’t get a hold of at a major (since getting a hold of anyone at a major is a pain in the ass to begin with), do you not ask around to find out where they are? Does that count as stalking? Maybe if she did this every single major, yes, it would be stalking. Isolated incident? No. Stop grasping for straws here. I’m not sure how her being transgender absolves her from stalking, so keep projecting your personal bias I guess.
This article (the guest article on SRK) was horrific. He uses “someone’s behavior” as evidence but doesn’t elaborate a speck further. Also, he fails to recognize that TO’s are not babysitters. They are not the teachers at recess. They literally have no way to right every single wrong that is done at a tournament.
This thing didn’t even take place at the actual tournament. It started in the lobby (on Thursday no less, before the tournaments even STARTED), and then the person who asked her the question met her somewhere else. How the fuck is a TO supposed to handle this, let alone know that it even happened?
Sup dawg, you still rocking a penis or what? no homo no disrespect just wondering since you put it out there, no innuendo either. If you gotta send pictures send em to Furious pls, i trust his judgement, he was kinda solid during the fappening anyway.
I guess to straight dudes asking that question is more akin to asking a chick if her tits are real, sure we feel a lil bad doing it but we genuinely curious, like it could be a compliment or a really shitty insult but sometimes a nigga needs to roll the dice ya know?
Forgot to answer this. Dialupsucky’s combo videos don’t get posted because they want all front page material to be in high def recording regardless of its merit as a video; on top of that, when Excellent Adventures first started, front page was running the cock block on their videos but still posting Maximillian’s stuff.
IIRC, some of the stuff for smaller games wouldn’t be posted because they didn’t get enough clicks to make it worth while.
This has been your friendly anthropologist saying: There’s a reason I stopped writing.
The tweet I was referring to was the one Mightfo responded to:
“At least through comments we can have a discussion about issues. Oh wait, you shut that down. #GamerGate”
Yeah, I would call that hostile and accusing. That’s not how you engage people in a level-headed discussion.
When the morality police are being illogical and they don’t listen, you end up getting the type of response ian is getting now. They’re trying to control how people should think about the incident (to the degree of making it a pain in the ass to actually find out what happened) and that is never going to end well. And you NEVER call out the whole community over the actions of one person…Again, this is EXACTLY how Gamergate started and why there is so much vitriol towards the games press right now. As much as I support Gamergate, I really don’t want to see our own brand of it in the FGC.
And if push comes to shove and people start trying to put blame on TO’s, a LOT more people are going to stand with the TO’s. Especially someone like Big E.
Cross Counter was more noteworthy for the negative press the FGC received, again, due to the actions of one person. Mercifully, this incident appears to be dying peacefully instead of being plastered on the front of Kotaku and co like the CC incident did.
It also didn’t help that so many of us thought Cross Counter was a terrible idea to begin with.
I wouldn’t say its bad to criticize a platform that’s premise is to cater to a certain niche audience and doesn’t partake in the activities that make it niche in the first place. If it doesn’t meet the standard it doesn’t meet the standard.
And I do acknowledge that the content situation is complex, some communities give a shit more than others, or are just larger, but it was never about that in the past, never about popularity, or exposure. There’s lots of good stuff ive found digging on youtube that I wouldn’t have had to dig to find its out there. The assumption that srk is starving the content creators in hindsight is off the mark, at any rate its easy to tell that those relationships aren’t there anymore.
