in reality i think that an anime fighter is something akin the naruto games, the dbz games, etc
those that you mention in reality are “New School” ighting games
lets be honest here in srk the use of anime fighter is a degradatory term, used arbitrarily to label games that your typical srk member sees as inferior for whatever reason, mvc3 is an anime fighter since it has almost all of what you decribed, but people dont label that way cuz its MAHVEL BABY
Getting Grabbed online and not knowing if the missed tech was my own mistiming or the cause of being online. There are times in SF4 that I jump on the other side of a knocked down player and try to tech the upcoming grab, just to get out of the corner…and get thrown back into it.
People who constantly press buttons, despite me sitting them on there ass for doing so…doesnt really grind my gears…but it brings a “Are you serious?”
Damnit deadfrog the only reason I came here was to make that joke, and that grinds my gears.
…also when people assume I am a girl and send me inappropriate messages, but that is mostly hilarious.
We don’t have to dumb ourselves down technicalities. Derogative term or not, anime fighter is like porn. You know what it is it when you see it.
I know im the best and someone tells me i’m not. Wtf man you cant argue with facts.
lmfao. shit yeah
not seein’ it. I think when ppl use the term anime they’re probably referring mostly to presentation. BB (as I’m sure you know) has that kinda style. Many games do not. Just saiyan.
in reality Anime = animation done in japan
but for the sake of conventionalism if you believe that sf, kof are not drawn in “anime” style, then LMAO
KOF is an “animé fighter” in the same way that SkullGirls is not. It’s all about where the game is made (which means that Street Fighter is an “animé fighter” as well).
Now if were were using the proper terminology, then no neither KOF nor SF are “new school” fighting games (but SkullGirls is).
P.S. Funnily enough, KOF and SF actually have animé based on them, while most stuff people call “animé fighters” do no.
-
People who don’t play good games due to their appearance.
-
People who complain about losing instead of trying to get better.
-
(personal) Not having transportation to go play against people and get match experience, lol!
- That modern fighting games play like shit.
- That at the end of the day, high level 3rd Strike is broken.
- That no matter how good the mechanics behind a fighting game is Capcom shoves ANOTHER unnecessary fighting mechanic in that doesnt add anything to the game “just because”.
- That as good and balanced (FINALLY!) as MK9 is, the negative edge makes it play like garbage.
- That theres no local Darkstalkers scene in my city.
- That theres no local Tobal 2 scene in my city.
-
I didn’t beat my opponent because I’m a better player. I won because my character is OP.
-
Berating a player for playing only one character.
What annoys me is that this came from a close friend of mine when we played a 30 game set of AH3.
Should of added “The Marvel forum” to the list. That game’s got people spoiled. Real talk.
When people use my stick improperly…
Spoiler
…and forget to use the clutch pedal.
Ugh, this. Seems to be happening a lot to me lately.
That and SF4’s “Well, you were a frame late hitting that second jab, it’s only fair that you eat a mashed Ultra and lose the round” type system. X_X
Also the fact that no plays Guilty Gear. Seriously guys, we gotta fix this
People accusing anything of being cheap.
People counterpicking when they lose, then ragequitting because their counterpick failed + hate mail (I’m not against counterpicking)
Any kind of hate mail in general. Fucking learn to deal with it and play better.
Lag when you’re both showing a green connection…grrrrr.
Being kicked out of lobbys because they don’t like the character I’ve chosen to play…
For me, what grands my gears is when players bash a game w/o playing and checking it out to determine if they like it.
Bad netcode in fighting games I like.
The MvC3 forums and their theory fighters who believe Zero and Viper are the 2 best characters in the game, and think Wolverine isn’t even top 10.
People who don’t give games like KOF, Tekken, GG, AH3, etc. a fair chance because they’re not Capcom/SF4.
Low tier warriors who always blame their losses on the fact that… they pick a low tier character. Especially in 3S, the GGPO/online community was terrible about this.
1)people who expect every fighting game to be the exact fucking same as their favorite
2)when people have completely arbitrary expectations for a move’s damage reward
3)bullshit us-them mentalities (WAH WAH ANIME WAH WAH CAPCOM)
4)people who never separate their opinions on character designs(nongameplay as well as gameplay) from verifiable facts or reasonable design consensus (like “most dragonpuches should be unsafe” is fine as opposed to “ugh your character is fucking gay because i hate that <mixup/mobility/evasion/priority/whatever>”)
5)when people get salty(out loud) at their character or the opponent’s character instead of themselves
ahahaha that is a terrible line to use since it invokes a bunch of people not agreeing on obscenity laws
People not responding to my jokes, no matter how bad they are.
People that send you “GG” after completely destroying you.
