But SSBM is alot harder than u think, it might seem kiddy, Fox is not top tier, Zelda/Shiek is and mario
I really say that SSBM shoud make the cut for 06 il be there with my Team Sheik and Samus But for a Tourney There it should only be a team Tourney becuse of the Fairness of the game if it was singles, all 3 people would roll on one person, But that game is really fun to when people has skills

I love Smash Bros. too. I hate it when people rip on it, as I’m sure you do. But now you’ve gone and said Guilty Gear requires no skill?!?
I mean, those who bash Smash Bros. obviously never played it enough and don’t understand it. So saying Smash Bros. is kiddie and skill-less is completely unjustified. So I have to ask: have you even played Guilty Gear before?? The game requires a level of depth and skill unseen in recent fighting games.
I will withhold all snarky and angry comments until I have confirmed that you’ve actually at least played Guilty Gear to a decent degree to have been able to form a valid criticism of the game.
Yes i have since it was on Ps1 and the my local arcade…its to easy to combo on that game thats why i did not like it.
Ummm Im all for SSBM Team game in fact thats the only team game that should be in EVO
Rift: Yeah, it’s easy to Combo in that game, but little Chain Combos don’t cut it in that game. The system they have set up makes it so that basic combos lose damage and fast. So it’s all balanced out. Even though it has easy combos doesn’t make it skill-less. I still stand by my claim that the depth and skill required to play the game is huge. There’s a reason why omni continues to joke that you need to quit your job in order to properly learn the game.

If having colorful backgrounds and cartoonish characters automatically makes something kiddie, fine, then call me a kid. At my age, I’d appreciate it. I mean, something like “Spirited Away” I don’t even consider a kiddie movie. I think it’s unfair to marginalize a game like that as kiddie just 'cause of the characters you use in it.
Seriously though, if you think smash brothers is noob then play someone who is tournament-level good. I can’t explain why it’s hard to play in a forum post, and a good portion of this forum is ignorant and biased, but you have to try it with someone who’s good before you can talk.
SSBM is harder to play than any street fighter, or 2d fighter, in my opinion. I’m perfectly willing to back that up with facts about the games, as I’ve played aloooot of them.

I’ve played plenty of ALL of those games, downloaded videos for GG, CvS2 and 3s, seen plenty of all of their high level play, and done the same with smash brothers. I’d say hands down smash bros is more complicated and in-depth than any of those games, especially GG and 3s. I don’t know anything about ST, just that I find it boring, so I can’t comment on that.
Haha. Master Rift is out of his mind if he thinks Guilty Gear doesn’t take any skill. And I’m not talking about the original GG or GGX, those games were really broken. Anything XX and beyond (even if XX is really old and basic compared to #R or Slash) take plenty of skill to be good at.
Kalypso, I like Super Smash more than Melee because I thought it was more fun.
Though, if I was to conclude on how broken or skill required it takes between those 2 games, I wouldn’t know. I had not played enough Melee to start criticizing it.

Don’t be stupid. You’re not a top player on any 2d game. You posted 1 frame sequences from SSBM as it were something really amazingly hardcore, when it is bread and butter for lots of stuff in 2d games.
People are playing 10 hours a day of SF and company since the early nineties, and you come here to say that player x who started playing smash a couple years ago has more skills than Daigo, Sanford or Choi? Get a grip.
SSBM can be pretty deep and I’m sure that the best SSBM player in the world worked/studoied more than average 2d players, but the rest is nonsense. Oh yeah, and no self-respecting player learns SF like do; doing stuff on practice and applying it to otherpeoplelike they were the CPU. The most played KoF in all third world countries is 2002. But if you want to have a truly international tournament I said the same I said last year; you gotta announce it a year early. Youll got nobody from Koream, China, Brazil, Pakhistan and so many others if you try it this year.
Dont put lots of different games unless youre sure you can run things smoothly.
Marvel and the other big games should be single. I think every tourney should be single, as a matter of fact. How will you know whos the best on teams? Maybe the best had a wacky team and lost early.
And charge 50 bucks this time. All your money problems will go away, and people that paid a thousand for hotels + planes can play 50 for Evo (the main thing).
Either DoA 4 or SSBM or MK may bring new blood (although I dont think that many DoA or SSBM players will play 3rd Strike or Marvel anytime soon). All of them is too much. Test one of them first and see what you get. Do not promote them asteh main thing, or else youll break the Evo spirit and get f*cked up in 2007/8 or whatever.Trailers and stuff should have MvC2 and Capcom as themain titles. This is Srks focus from the beginning. If Mario beats Marvel, Evo will be just another Nintendo tourney (oh so sad) Inkblot is dying to make a huge DoA 4 tourney, as it seems from the main page. I think it is a weak idea, but it will be there.
Cigarbobs idea (Evo runs 5 games and people can make side tourneys as they wish) is pretty good.
Id like to play MvC1, an online favorite of most, and capable of bringing back some top players. Maybe it can be a side tourney.
