try them all, but if you will mostly play online you should avoid umvc3 due to ass netcode, and if you mostly play offline, then if you are undecided on what game you like most you should weigh how big the scene for each game is in your area. (Note that you’d probably have to go to dustloop’s match finder threads to get a better idea of BB/SG’s scenes in your area.)
This man is saying things.
And they are good things.
And they should be listened to.
Because they are good.
Are you a newbie to fighting games?
Then SFxT and Skullgirls.
Would not recommend UMVC3. Its pretty strict & not newb friendly.
Mmmmh, I think I follow you!
im mostly gonna be an onine warrior. so im probably gonna go with BB, skullgirls, and sfxt ( i heard the online was ok on a good connection but it has a sound issue)
revised for correctness, tbc.
If you want to be a God, **play Vampire Savior. **It’s why Japan beats the world at every fighter that isn’t Marvel. Be a God!
I can personally say that the online community for BB is pretty healthy on the PS3 and those three should be the smoothest 2D fighters to date. Skullgirls is not out yet, but I trust Mike and Reverge Labs. It’s also going to be a steal at $15.
blazblue and skullgirls, if you want to play good games
umvc3 if you want competition
play SF II Turbo on GGPO, SF x TK (cause its a new game with a good netcode and a strong player base), and I would play a KoF 98/2002 on GGPO as well if you want to pick up another game
play whatever you enjoy though… IMO playing games like SF Turbo or older games in general have better competition than newer games. Therefore, you can learn a lot from facing opponents that are better than you in fighting games in general from the older games so when you go back to SFxTK, you will be better than a lot of scrubs.
play marvel
pit fighter
The SFxT tutorial is pretty horrible. It just tries to convince the noobs to get gems instead of learning the game and improving. I got sick of what I saw there.
Play whichever one looks like it will appeal to you the most. I’d suggest Skullgirls, but the other games are also fun. And there’s always Mortal Kombat 9 and King of Fighters XIII if none of the ones suggested in this thread appeal to you.
Find the indiest and barely known fighting game. And it better not have anything to do with Capcom.
That or BlazBlue.
i think it depends of what you want. You can want something easier to get it on, or you can want something harder that wil give you a more solid fundation. Even then, a game only can be categorized as “easy” or “hard” if you are analising just a single aspect of a game. Then again: i think it depend of what you want. I consider sf2 hyper fighting a game that can give a solid fundation in praticaly anything, but for example, fate UC can push the execution to the next level.
@ whoever said guilty gear
play that new persona game. itll have good online and some people will play it probably
gg is probably the last game you wanna start with…lol
