mvc2 = best game ever. no doubt. Instead of making a whole new game, what about just changing stuff? making some characters quicker? Giving 8 ways to more characters? Maybe clone a couple moves from the better characters? Marvel is tight partly because of it’s brokeness. I dont want to see a new engine. i wanna see more of the same, just with more playable characters, some new stuff, and a more even playing field.
I also think it would be tight to have the option of giving your helper any move the character has. That would make more teams playable. Magnus’ shield move would be a tight anti air yo!
id prefer it if they didnt fuck with mvc2. that game is good the way it is. id rather they make a new game all together. that way if it sucks, you can always go back to playing mvc2. but if they mess with mvc2 and fuck it up then you just have to deal with an edited mvc2
Too bad the Marvel community can’t hack the game and make our own mods and changes. That would be the best. We could all combine efforts and make a standardized MVC2: 2
I think Marvel is fated to be a niche game in the fighting genre not because it’s not extremely fun but because it’s extremely broken. Sure you can get good at it but in the end it’s still not a fully working game. People want fair competition unfortunately marvel cant give you that because of the Magnetos and Storms in the game. That is why it won’t get the hype the SF4 get’s just because SF4 isn’t as fast and doesn’t take such superlative timing in getting out of and doing certain things it presents a better competitive playing field because at it’s roots it’s not broken. Sure there are the better characters in the game but none of those characters are completely unbeatable by the lower tier characters if used correctly.
Best way to do it is re-code the entire thing from the ground up for PC. It’d be a bitch to program, and is pretty risky as copyrights may be infringed…but you’d have much more freedom with a re-built PC version than a hacked rom or iso, and you could potentially port it to a console later on through homebrew. Even better, you could also implement GGPO netplay if IaMP is any indication…
Another hurdle would be drawing sprites for new characters. That’s time consuming and pretty tough, but do-able. To take on this project, you’d need a group of knowledgeable and dedicated Marvelheads who not only know and understand MvC2 inside out, but have programming/art-based talents and a lot of time on their hands…
Dead or not, I will continue to play Marvel even if I’m the last person on the game. In fact, that’ll be better because then I can finally be the best person (still) playing the game. Unfortunately, that’ll never happen and I’m stuck being in 937379288672t17304827165th place. :sad:
ive been hooked on mvc2 since it dropped on psn, i fucking love marvel. as long as their are people who can wipe the floor with me i will be on marvel consistently. seriously though this game has so much shit that makes games like sf4 and other 2d fighters look boring and unfun.
the only game that ive gotten close to as much enjoyment out of is Blazblue.
