Wrong. Only Aegis got nerfed and his tackles where messed with. Temporal Thunder and Tyrant Slaughter got damage boosts and you could juggle a HELLUVA lot more with CFJ Urien.
How the hell is Ryu nerfed in CFJ? He’s got stupid damage output and can take on anybody in that game sans Jedah.
I read an OLD tier list of Virtua Fighter 4 Final Tuned a while back and it had Akira in the mid tier. Considering he was definitely top tier (perhaps even #1 if used to the full potential) in VF4 Evo, would that be considered a nerf? VF’s balanced enough, though, so this may be moot.

Ryu aint got no dash no run no super jump nothing. I’m just going off of what I saw! Diago had Ryu of all people and got beat down by Anakeris and Karen. He was helpless.
I know Urien well in 3s and it seemed he sucked in Fighting Jam maybe I’m wrong though didn’t spend that much time on that game. The animation makes me mad.
In defense of Ryu and the other SF2 chars, Anakaris and Karin are in the top tier.
Anakaris is THE anti-shoto. Treat him like Sim with a backdash that allows him to escape corners, and the ability to nullify your ranged FB game by being able to grab you from 2 of your best ranges.
Karin is just stupid quick with comboable EVERYTHING into rekkaXXlaunch, and her braindead customs. I love the bitch, but they made it too easy for her.
Basically anyone that could control space quickly(Jedah, Kenji) or efficiently(Anakaris) was hard for the SF2 chars to beat without much more thought. One good thing that saved me is that the Jedah players for some reason liked getting close to Gief just to get headbutt XX dizzy XX SPD/FAB.

And CFJ Ryu didn’t have some maneuvers and moves because due to the lack of effort on the game, Capcom copy/pasted the SFII characters right from CvS2 to CFJ.
He sure as hell was NOT helpless. About everything he was lacking: you’ll notice the section he’s in on the select screen is labeled SF2…not alpha or capcom vs. Just Sf2. It’s Sf2 Ryu…with his cvs sprite.
I’m surprised nobody mentioned Kof 95, Kyo,Robert,Ryo got wack in all them other Kof’s compared to that game.
Er Kof 94 and 95 stages n music was better than all the rest of them new grainy ones.

oh the reaon I think 2nd Impact yang was better cause he could two in one his low strong, and the twins standing mid kick was sj cancelable from any range long as it touched you. Plus they both could do universal overhead(which was a fierce punch damage effect) and damn near combo a grab after it…and then he could combo his sa2 from the grab(knees)
Plus he could lock u down with all kinds of shit cause that game had no red parry.
And yes he WAS better he could combo low jab into low short into low forward into mantis slashes. That game was crazy. And that was nothing like Kyo in cvs2 thats a lot harder.
Also Ryus voice WAs the shit in 2i, sounded older like a real master

Hugo might have been better in 2nd impact because not only could he combo 4 jabs/high or low into Hammer he could throw u in the corner against the wal and keep juggling u with fierce claps until u were dizzy!! And then he could do it again! Down fall though u could throw him into supers like shippu jin rai,hado urt,reppa,and even Hyper Tornado! Thats wasn’t good for Hugo good thing they fixed that.
Last but not least MY NIGGA GUILE from WW compared to any other wack ass guile. Jab that shit, crouching fierce for anti air was too good.

Testament wasn’t even high tier in GGX IIRC? So he didn’t really change much…
The bigger nerfs in the GG series were:
Johnny XX->#R dropped 10 spots
Dizzy #R->Slash dropped about 8 spots
Eddie #R->Slash Eddie dropped 15 spots
Robo-Ky #R->Slash dropped 15 spots
Everything else has been about 5 or less spots down between games.
While it was a sort-of necessary nerf since they were strong hidden characters in '97, it wasn’t that severe so as to warrant their inclusion here. It’s certainly no MvC->MvC2 Chun or 2i->3s Sean. O.Yash and O.Chris are still in the upper echelons of 2k2, and O.Yash rocks '98. O.Shermie takes a lot of work to win with, but is workable.
