Someone already said what I was gonna say - CE Bison > than every other version of Dictator.
Maybe not the biggest nerf, but Ryu’s Tastu invincibility in HF was freaking amazing. Plus he was able to float across the screen whcih got him out of a lot of tight spots. Cheap, but awesome. Super toned him down a bit.
a1’s tah is poor even at high levels and only hits once, in a3 it’s very annoying and a very good AA, bait and pressure move. often the only way to beat good birdies with it is activation. I swear he only had crouching chains and of those i’m not even sure how useful they were. and everything in a1 does more damage so I wouldn’t count that.
I guess it comes down to whether you’re playing hsfa or looking at birdie in a1 vs birdie in a3. if it’s the latter I still think a3 birdie is better.
Huh? Some of these shouldn’t even be up for discussion…
SI Sean > 3S Sean (This one made me cry)
T4 Jin > T5 Jin
MVC Wolverine > Both versions in MVC2
SFA2 Chun Li > SFA3 Chun Li (ugh…)
SC2 Yoshi > SC3 Yoshi
CE Bison > HF Bison
I’d say these are some of the more prominent nerfs I’ve been witness to…
A1 Birdie’s TAH had more invincibility (can get travel unscathed through all slow fireballs; A3 Birdie cannot pass slow projectiles with this) and scored the same damage corresponding to the level charged regardless of whether the opponent was airborne or grounded, so the fact that A3 Birdie’s TAH hits multiple times is largely cosmetic. I don’t understand your “poor” comment when A1 Birdie’s TAH is basically the same move as the A3 version but with more invincibility and is much safer when blocked; it’s still an anti-air, it’s still used to pressure etc. Also, A3 Birdie’s low level TAHs are particularly vulnerable to retaliation when blocked.
And the point about damage certainly counts: We are comparing Birdie’s damage output from one game to another, and not A1’s system changes to A3, so this point is valid.
I’m saying, almost every worthwhile move of A3 Birdie’s is superior in his A1 version. MC, TAH, normals, Supers – all of these are powered down in A3.
** In A1, MC x 4 = death; A2, A3 (A-ism) MC x 5 = death
*** MC = half a Level of Super meter; A3, MC x 3 = 1 Level of Super gauge
tah is poor A1 and is better in A3. The damage isn’t similar at all.
lv1 on A1 does less damage than a standing jab. A3 has better damage on every level than is does on A1 because of the multiple hits. In addition to that it also charges much faster, stopping it’s extra vulnerability at low levels
Invincibility is good, but I doubt anyone would be throwing a slow fireball close enough for tah hit before recovery anyway. that’s what the “leap” super is for.
2i Yang was better than the 3s one imo
2i Ibuki was better then the 3s one imo
2i alex, sean, and akuma were all better than 3s imo
Yangs voice from 2i was better
Urien got beat down in that one game with the darkstalkers.
So did Ryu, ha Kens not even in it
Duran Mister got nerfed from ex 1 to 2 no lariot now just a super version
I think D Dark got beat down from ex 1 to 2 maybe I’m wrong
Luigi got nerfed from mario 2 to 3 I mean come on homey lost his hops!
seriously though I’m glad they let Geese grab supers in cvs2 cause in cvs1 that upset alot of Geese fans in Omaha.
Damage from A1’s anti-air TAHs can vary from, the same damage, to less damage, to more damage than the grounded version. This is determined by where the anti-air TAH hits (how deep or close). I’ll agree that A3’s TAH charge faster – though A1 Birdie has six levels to charge to, instead of A3’s five, and does more damage than A1 Birdie’s.
So it’s A3 Birdie’s more damaging and quicker charging TAH vs A1 Birdie’s more invincibility (mobility), and safer when blocked TAH. I’m unable to see how this one move places A3 Birdie above his A1 self overall, because A: A1 Birdie has no problem finding suitable anti-air options, and B: generally does more damage than A3 Birdie.
Though I’ve stated A1’s Birdie’s advantages over his A3 version, and feel that these clearly show him undergoing a weakening in A3, it is still unclear how A3 Birdie’s own strengths are enough to a establish a superiority over him.
