It has a lot of utility for punishing, strong setups to kara into it, and opens him up a little offensively because of the threat of it.
I mean do I think Ryu’s super is better? Of course, but in comparison to most of the supers in the game it seems pretty solid from my experience.
His super’s good/decent/not Abel’s super but overall in comparison to Ryu/Akuma he’s mostly bad…
since akumas and e.ryus super are the same ,that means akumas super also SUX… and doing the kara super is too risky? the win/loose risk is deffinetly not in your favor …if you miss it ,you loose all your metter + get punished verry hard
and yeah i agree both ryu and akuma (especially akuma) are much stronger than him
in my opinion : shinku hadouken is unmached in the game (i dont say this cause ryu is one of my mains) … you can combo into it,jugle it,punish normals,punish fireballs ,punish specials,punish ex moves etc etc …once Ryu gets his super he becomes verry verry scary
other solid supers in this game in MY opinion are : chun’s,gen’s,cammy’s,honda’s,balrog’s,dalshim’s,guy’s,rose’s, and offcourse YUN’s 1 of the best in game (probably ass good as ryu’s)
eRyu with a 5 frame sweep ranged low forward and Akuma sweep would be absurdly broken. Absolutely hideous damage, not one range where he is weak (the primary reason he is uncomfortable at the traditional shoto sweet spot is because of the awkwardness of his cr.mk and sweep): All the shoto goodness at close-mid (where he can now happily confirm a nice and comfy cr.mk into 500 damage), batshit insanity in your face with a now-functional vortex game, reinforced Ryu zoning game (shakunetsu, superpowered low forward, [S]st.mk wait nobody gives a shit fast ER cr.mk is too gdlk[/S], ridiculously long-ranged focus)… You’re describing pure madness.
Well Yun’s is different because his whole play style revolves around it… he can win without it but using it does like 25-35%? no idea actually now… which is huge…
I agree with you actually… completely right… all those supers have many situations where you can hit them, can be combo’d into, can’t be too badly punished if missed, scares opponents from doing certain things (e.g. jumping, fireballs, etc.) and do solid damage.

E Ryu’s Super is good, it’s like Akuma’s but at the same time his EX moves are better than most characters especially his EX Axe kick
His axe kick is all he has going for him… its a bit slow but not THAT slow, EX is fast.
It does a lot of chip damage, it does a lot of damage, its safe on block (although the light version is meant to be -7 on block I swear its not o.O) except by Zangief’s ultra/super…, it can be combo’d into, it breaks armor and builds a lot of meter.
But that’s it… all of E.Ryu’s other tools are crappier versions of Ryu and Akuma’s pretty much…
It wouldn’t matter if his EX moves were that good or not because his game style revolves around keeping 2 meter’s stocked so that you can do crMK, hadouken/axe kick FADC combo for big damage/stun.

He has the standard Ryu zoning game, except he has as extras red fireballs, a better walkspeed and a super long ranged focus.
His U2 is awesome.

You can probably pick nearly any tool he has and say “Ryu has this too”, “Akuma has this too” and conclude that the character is worthless but he has combinations of things. For example his fireball game is really strong and he has active frames on normals and thus a more damaging air-to-air game. There’s small things like that all over the place.
Huh? LK Axe Kick is 17f. EX is 21f.
I’ve reacted to Axe Kick with Ultra before. Granted, I was expecting it, but I could still confirm and execute. The move is super slow.

I have slow reactions. It’s not just the move itself, it’s how you set it up. If it were all about move speed then things like Blanka’s overhead would be useless.
By itself EX Axe Kick is slow, especially because of the EX Flash which makes it easier to react to. On resets or wakeup its good because you can do it meaty and confuse them with a high/low/left/right mixup, but the question you have to ask yourself is how often does E.Ryu get to use a mixup like that? That’s one of the reasons giving him a fast sweep would make him realllly strong.
