It’s a fun game to play occasionally with a group of friends. That’s it. To take it seriously anymore just makes you seem deranged. The game’s terrible competitively, especially how the community behind it has evolved, and those that still take it seriously in the shell of what the game began as are deranged. There’s no point in embracing the game as a serious competitive game, so why not just embrace it for the silliness that has come out of it, and will continue to do so as people hack the ever loving shit out of it?
Personally, I can’t wait to see when they make generators for converting models/etc. and just outright patching the ISO instead of relying on on-the-fly code modification. Sure, you’ll need a modded Wii or Wii emu to enjoy it that way, but you’re gonna get a lot more potential from having a permanent change rather than a simple RAM hack. Only then will we truly have Smash Mugen.
If fans have to hack a game to make it better it really says something about it.
vBrawl and brawl+ arnt melee. But we all know that. Smash is indeed doomed until nintendo puts someone elese in charge of the design of the game. They wont do that though, the game sold very well, and nintendo doesnt care about the competitive community, as long as you buy.
You know, I can’t say much on Brawl+ good, but Brawl- is hilarious as shit and I would suggest that one to anyone that’s looking for a refresh. Dunno how fair it’ll be in the end, but taking the Marvel approach to balance of “if everything’s broken, everything’s fair” (even the main screen attests to this). Plus, you get amusing things like abusing this in the SSE and watching Ganondorf one-shot Tabuu with his 599% damage Warlock Punch.
Hey guys, I want to play competitive Mario Kart. Something should hack into the game, get rid of all the items, give every character different stats, and make Snaking more viable. That way, it can compete with Gran Turismo.
