Everytime I see Vergil gameplay in DMC3 and try to translate it into a Marvel moveset, I keep coming up with this combination of Strider and Spiral. I might be way off Mark, but I see his lockdown being stupid good.
I like how people keep worrying Vergil will end up like Dante. That’s one of the least likely things that would happen. About the only thing those two share in common in their combat style is sword use. Vergil doesn’t have 101 weapons, try to be so overly flashing its comical, nor wields his sword the way Dante does. He has many moves and a few tools, so he may be as varied as Dante, but that would definitely not be a bad thing to copy.
So far I’m seeing the the Wesker/Strider/Spiral parallels that people are bringing up, but I don’t see Vergil being too overly similiar to anyone else we have on the cast at this point. Fears of him being a Dante clone are just baseless. Truly.

He shouldnt be in the game. DMC doesnt deserve/need 3 reps, 2 reps is pushing it… But Id rather have Dante and Vergil over Dante and Trish. thats how it should have been instead of all three…
But since he is in, I do think he will have an interesting moveset. They did a good enough job with Dante and Trish.
Spiral (swords) meets Baiken (reversals) meets Dante (DT and abilities). Throw in Beowolf and Mudus.
His DLC alt will be The Dark Knight and a even bigger sword.
Go whine at resident evil having 4 reps, and don’t tell me that there are too many x-men reps. There are never too many x-men reps.
Considering how well they made Dante, I think NeoG and his developers will do a fine job on Vergil. I just hope they make Summoned Sword a command normal instead of a special, something like b.L, and make it usable during his other moves. That way, he’ll really play like the Vergil in DMC3.
Ok. I dont think Jill should be. Nemesis, Chris, Wesker? Holy shit those are some great choices though.
As for X-Men, well most of the characters are interesting or popular, and we got Deadpool so thats all that matters.
Nemesis is fine as a character in general. As a fighting game character… WTF? Chris was pushing it already as it was. I mean, as long as they make him awesome to use I don’t care, but I seriously doubt he is going to turn out good/interesting. I would disagree that Jill was a bad choice, but agree she shouldn’t be there. They took a really lazy approach with the Jill they added. It was pretty sad.
My thoughts on Vergil are…
-he has many moves to choose from (completely different form Dante)
-he doesn’t have guns
-different personality
etc.
He will not resemble Dante gameplay wise in any way. Who cares if it’s another dmc rep? It’s a new character that you may enjoy playing as.
How so? It isn’t like the copypasta’d her moveset from MVC2.
(Over-exaggerated, I know they couldn’t actually copy + paste, i just mean that they didn’t reuse it)
Id rather have MvC2 Jill. this Jill is just so boring to me.
Nemesis will be awesome. No matter what. Hes the fuckin NEMESIS. Thats more than half the villains in this game could hope for.
Thatd be so much better if they just took her moveset from MvC3. That one was at least pretty interesting.
A great majority of Xmen characters are about as interesting as donkey turd, imo.
I gotta say I like Wolverine, Gambit, Phoenix, Magneto, Psylocke, and Deadpool at least.
Deadpool the most tho. He didn’t even start in X-Men either, which says something haha.
My thoughts are the same as I said in the UMvC3 thread, I hope he has his sword twirl and it can deflect both projectiles & beams.

Hopefully they choose his first boss battle theme from DMC3 I mean that’s how they introduced him into dmc3 why not mvc3, not to mention it’s very Vergil-ish. If they just did another unoriginal Dante theme remix that would be disappointing.
