Agreed. The “bad” parts don’t even irk me that much. I kind of like backtracking - it forces me to remember places I’ve been to before and what I need to do there.
I think its just like Sep said - the only review you really need is - it’s Devil May Cry. I have seen nothing yet that would lead me to believe that the game will be disappointing.
So the anime is accepted as canon then?

DMC4 does have the chance of being bad, remember DMC2 after all.

Right now, I’m avoiding all the DMC4 coverage just so the game can be that much better when I finally play it. The trailers have indeed revealed a lot so these reviews will just kill off the surprises entirely.
That game was different though. DMC2 was originally built as a different action game, but it was turn into a DMC game halfway through. Not to mention practically none of the devs behind the first game returned, besides Kobayashi. Hideki Kamiya, director of DMC and Okami, was told at the last minute that they were already making DMC2. They learned a lot from their mistakes in the second game and DMC3 proves that they’ve made the necessary changes to set things right.
At worst, this game can be a little below DMC3. But even that is unlikely. Try to have some faith!
And yeah, from what I understand the anime is canon to the series.
I like DMC style backtracking.

You go through another door,and you complete mission,after mission,until you are noticing that you are going back.Then you say
“Ohhhhhhh,I had to get this”
or
“I needed this”
It’s not that bad.
I got to play a playable demo in Osaka, Japan in a Yodobashi camera. They had it on display. It was pretty much like every other DMC that I’ve played, but I’m not too sure about the fatures, hopefully this game will be hella cool cause I want it!

Haven’t they had this demo up for a long time in Japanese stores? I remember asking the Capcom rep at SDCC and he said it was the same build as the one I was playing.
