What are you supposed to do in the secret mission where you have to rank up without attacking? I tried taunting and dodging, but no go.
:u: Grab with the buster and hold the enemy as a shield. Then when another enemy attacks, just taunt. Worked real well for me.
So…do they ever actually say who Nero really is? I only heard that old guy saying he had the blood of Sparda in him.
-Is he some bastard child of Sparda or maybe Vergil?
-Was he born with the arm or did it just appear one day?
-It says something about him knowing Kyrie for a long time, how did she not see that glowing arm? I doubt he was in a cast all his life…
-Is Dante 2000 years old and ages very slowly?
I dont expect any answers for these, they are questions raised over my time playing this series.
Now it makes sense. On DH difficulty I made it through all of Dante’s stages without much trouble at all (would’ve been no trouble if it wasn’t for Blitz!), and couldn’t understand why anyone was complaining about difficulty.
You know move pisses me off the most? Berial’s explosion move thingy. When you see him about to pull it off when you are attacking him you have almost no time to run from it.
:u: If you look at the opening scene, Nero’s arm looks like it was just in a cast, his fingers weren’t claws or anything. It seems like it didn’t become what it did till Dante showed up and all of the events followed.
If you have Nero then you don’t have to ever run away from that explosion. Just do the shuffle I believe right before the fire hits you. The move when you hold the target button then move the analog stick back+forward and then your slash button. Nero will dodge the attack and then swing with his sword leaving him safe all of the time. But you have to time it correctly. Dante has a similar move but it seems to not be safe.
what I believe happened based on the game’s dialogue
Spoiler
-
Nero was born without the DB. This much is certain because of something he says in one of the cutscenes: “From that day on, my arm changed…”
-
The DB didn’t show up until recently. Probably a few months ago, when some unseen incident occurred that they reference in the game. Kyrie was in danger, Nero’s arm changed into the DB from his desire to protect her.
-
Nero has hidden the DB from Kyrie and Credo (who are technically his “family”, so he probably lives with them) by making it appear that his arm was merely injured and needed a cast on it for awhile. After Dante shows up you see he hides it by rolling down his coat sleeve and wearing a glove (that looked awesome, BTW) over it.
As for this stuff:
-
We don’t know. I’m thinking Sparda’s descendant, personally. Sparda knocks up some girl in his 2,000 year lifetime (he could have long before he ever met Eva, Dante and Vergil’s mom), the girl has children, and so on until we get to Nero.
-
It appeared, as I said above.
-
Nero was an orphan and raised with Kyrie and Credo. Which leaves him banging a person he considered a sister for several years of his life…but okay, Capcom. Get your incest fantasies out I suppose.
-
Dante’s like 30-35, thereabouts. He does probably age slower than a normal person, though.
I thought Dante was almost 2000 years old, dating back to when his dad saved humanity. Now that I think about it, they never said Sparda had kids until recently. In that case, what the hell happened to Sparda?
Mundus killed him.
So wait, Mundus was stuck on Earth AFTER Sparda closed the gate? How the hell did he not take over the world? When Dante was just a kid? Damn plot holes.
Yeah, thats pretty much what I got from it too.

Which would explain why he kept hiding it from her every time he saw her for pretty much the first half of the game. He didn’t know what was happening to it either.
Game is ballin. I love DMC
Question: lvl3 charge shot with Nero and Pandora with Dante are the best weapons to use for killing a Blitz? And does charge shot lvl 3 do more dmg when closer?
Oh and who does everyone use more in Palace? [Nero/Dante]
Far as I can tell, Nero’s lvl 3 charge shot does the same damage regardless of distance. It’s actually more of an instant attack, as I’ve hit enemies while aiming in the wrong direction. As for Dante, Pandora’s good against Blitzes if you can shoot them in time, but only on the ground. The jumping attack (machine gun) does piss-poor damage. I try to nail them with the laser when they first appear and if they try to come up through the ground again. Otherwise, there isn’t usually enough time so I stick to charged shotgun blasts.
Right now I prefer Nero for the Palace. Charged Shot 3 is so good, easily one of the best moves in the game, and Snatch makes it easier to survive by controlling who you fight. That being said, I’m definitely gonna run through with both characters. I’m waiting on Dante until I get used to weapon and stance switching on the fly, plus I wanna get the hang of Lucifer because it seems to have better crowd control ability than Rebellion and Gilgamesh.
From what I remember, Mundus amassed a big effing army to get revenge. Sparda had to go out and fight said minions and was overpowered then taken to Mundus in the underworld, who then killed him. I don’t remember it exactly but it does get explained in the instruction book of DMC, I think.
As for Bloody Palace, I always use Nero. I’ll probably try it with Dante eventually, but after playing as Nero using Dante feels too odd.
checked some sources… Sparda defeated Mundus 2000 years ago, and towards the end of his life has kids with whats-her-face. 2000 years is plenty of time to have kids with other women, leaving room for Nero to be a decendant and not a direct child (since Dante and Virgil were born around the time he died).
Nero is better for bloody palace. Exceed, DB, and Charge shot are too good for that place.
The story goes that, after he defeated some major force of evil (maybe not Mundus), Sparda locked himself in the netherworld with all the demons he banished. They probably killed him.
The other popular theory is that a little piece of Vergil’s soul somehow found its way into the DB or something. Which would explain why Nero was able to restore the Yamato, and the infamous “Give me more power” line. But the simple truth is that we just don’t know.
DMC5 had better be “Nero’s Awakening” or something.
Seriously, I bet most of us thought Vergil was possessing Nero or something…
I’m kinda disappointed it didn’t end up like that.
That would be kinda cool for a DMC5 though. Like, imagine a boss fight where Nero has to fight his own DT, and he ends up losing. Dante arrives and Nero stands up, slicks his hair back, and says “It’s been awhile…brother.”
FUND IT.
