We Need More Tekken 6 Players in Seattle

Question - Why does Heihachi strap people to rockets and send them into space?

For the heck of it I am reading the story, and this is hilarious:
“Ogre arrived and was defeated by Jin, only for Heihachi to in turn betray and attempt to kill him. Jin survived, transformed into a demon, attacked Heihachi and flew away.”

Haha wtf

Was at a buddies house and he had DR on his PS3. We played a few rounds and I don’t see how people can play tekken on pad.

Eh, it’s certainly easier on a pad than SF4, there is only 4 buttons so you can even put your hand up on top kind of like a stick.

@Jodo that part of the Tekken saga is from Tekken 3. Look on youtube for the endings, that shit you said is exactly what you’ll see, and it is kind of funny now that you mention it.

SEATTLETEKKEN DOT COM is now up, go register or DIE!

I suppose, but if your going to play that way might as well use a stick. Personall prefernces I suppose.

Takes a second to adjust to SF4 after playing tekken for the last 5 days. Was playing a match and totally spaced I had the feirce buttons.

I’ve been using a pad just because I am afraid of the abuse my stick would take otherwise. And for Scenario mode it seems like they assumed you’d be using a pad anyway.

I didn’t think about the scenerio mode aspect ( but it sucks only good for getting gold). Also when you go into customize I have to switch the stick to dpad to use the menu.

I think I’m more rough on my stick playing SF then tekken.

I’m gentle as hell on my stick with SF4, but I also try to be gentle in Tekken. My stick just already felt looser after letting people use it for an hour or two at Pat’s the other night, makes me a little afraid. :expressionless:

as far as backdash canceling goes, if you do it right you just cancel with a duck, not a side step, the movement guide even says you can cancel it with forward.

I can’t stress this enough, but if you guys want to see videos from the best arcade in Korea (Tekken competition wise) which is like home to probably the best Tekken players in the world, then please check out TekkenGosu’s youtube page. They update often, with videos for a variety of characters.

How about a video with direction inputs for backdash canceling? Even I resort to back dash, side step, back dash, side step cause I don’t get how to “truly” back dash cancel. Plus it’ll give people a visual so they have an idea on if they are doing it right.

Idea! I know there has to be a string in tekken, where if you block the first hit, you can back dash cancel to make the 2nd hit whiff. If someone knows of a string ou can do this to, post it up. Go to defense training in practice mode, pick that shit and try to make that 2nd (or 3rd) hit whiff.

it might be along the same lines frank but there are certain strings you can sidestep/sw one direction and you won’t get hit, but if you do it the other direction, you will get hit, last hit of demolition man.

for me, bdc consists of the first back dash as b,b, db, then from there, a very methodical but fast b, db, b, db, b, db… if you want to learn to bdc, pick ganryu in DR and follow this. i will have an article on seattletekken.com about bdc and movement. maybe ill make a vid if i can figure out how to capture video o_O

Are you going back to neutral after the db or straight to b again?

there are a lot of different types of notations to do this.
feel free to experiment to find what works for you

for beginners try this notation.

STYLE 1. lots of leeway easy to control.

b,b,d/b,N, b,b,d/b,N,b,b,d/b,N

  1. first hit bb
  2. then hit d/b
  3. then hit bb
  4. then hit d/b

STYLE 2 HARD. optimized backdash.
This is a fast percise backdash. I think this is the fastest way to backdash.
it eliminates a neutral press from other backdashes.

~ = very quick movement, be careful. try to be precise

b~B, d/b~b~n~B, d/b~b~n~B, d/b~b~n~B,

  1. Double tap BB to start backdash. hold B. do not return the stick to neutral.
  2. from holding B, slide the stick to d/b
  3. when releasing the stick to neutral, manipulate the stick so u release down before u release back. (try to hear a 1,2 double click if using japanese stick)
  4. tap back and hold back for movement.
  5. from holding B, slide the stick to d/b
  6. repeat

when i use this, i try to make my guy look like he doesnt duck. just moves backwards.
on pad, bdc is easy to learn. and its easy to do fast.

on stick its hard to do a fast back dash cancel
u can use this way of pressing the stick to go into back dash from ducking.
From ducking position holding, d/b~b~n~B

-Forward dash cancel

it is possible to do the back dash cancel and use it to go forwards.

f~f, d/f~f~n~F, d/f~f~n~F, d/f~f~n~F

this can give u a auto low parry chance. faster u dash more low parry chance.
i use both these movements in a total combination to be able to move freely back and forth at ridiculous speeds. its fun too try it.
very useful to make opponents miss moves.

Good ish. I worked on my character’s iWS (Instant While Standing) moves last night.
d, d/b (or d/f), n+ input. Comes in handy.

for Instant while standing moves, i do f~d/f~f+attack or b~d/b~b+attack

Nice. I’ll give them a whirl tonight. I can see the benefit of having b or b/d being input in case your opponent tries to do a low-frame attack.

I’ve even started doing a lame 3-hit juggle. Oh snap! Gotta practice some more of those. Also, I still have a hell of a time getting off the ground and blocking low really doesn’t seem to work ery well but I am probably just doing it wrong.

Frank gave me some advice that I’ll pass to you: Block high, LOOK for lows. Where as street fighter you would block low, and look for highs…ya dig?

Most lows, when blocked, are at bad frames and easily punishable!
I think most of the time, you should be okay tapping lp or rp when you hit the ground. Your character will do a small sideways roll and usually you should be able to block right away. Waking is tough against people who play well. Watch for their mixups and try to block and punish and thats a good basis to begin from.

If you see the low coming and block accordingly, you should be able to launch and combo.
If you block their high/mid, its back to the guessing game.
Watch for throws!
