We need more ST players in Seattle

ppl will play remixed version…lets not shit our pants just yet

I’m pretty much only looking forward to updated graphics and not remixed mode as I’d like to be dope at regular ST.

Well, there IS always the “unbalanced” version, which will be the exact same old game as before. Though I’m sure it will be subject to the speed changes and nearly unnoticeable tweaks of emulation (here we go again, CCC2…).

That said, I’m looking forward to HD Remix. I’m sure that David Sirlin has done something to balance any seemingly broken tweaks (remember, he is fiddling with character strengths in the balanced mode, not just inputs), and as a high-level player, he will notice them during testing.

Let’s hope SFIV won’t get fucked up.

I said in the STHD thread that nigs should hold off on using remix mode for tourneys until peeps figure out what is broken.

ST is a fucking masterpiece, so I am sure it will take time for people to embrace the remix version. That is, if people even bother to do so in the first place. Let us not mention the xbox live scrubs.

wtf, I just won a new HRAP2 for $95 shipped on ebay

doesn’t it retail for that?

but regardless, our stick shortage gets a little better

That is a damn good price. I was contemplating sticking an octagonal restrictor in mine. That way I could do DPs all day err day.

I have an octagonal restrictor lying around somewhere if you want to try one out

I like the square better for all characters anyways, so I never use it

Thanks but I actually arleady have one. It was in my SVC chaos stick. I could even play marvel on it with out problems!

A Sanwa? Could I try it out?

What do people think about Mikado style tournaments and ft10 showdowns like on Nohoho’s site? Maybe something like this could jump start Seattle ST outside of tournaments.

What is different about them/what sets them apart from other… tournament styles? I mean the names are familiar but that’s about it.

I am up for that, and I would be happy to host. I think we need at least one “serious” tournament at my gatherings.

but when?

Mikado style tourneys are sets of 2/3 where each player has two characters they are gonna use (secondary character/main character). Whoever wins the first match has to pick the same character again, while the person who lost has to switch to the character they didn’t use for their next match. So for example, if it were me against Nate, it would look like this…

Me-Bison/DICTATOR, Chun Li
vs
Nate-Fei Long, Zangief

I like it, gives people an additional reason to learn other characters.

The Nohoho showdown thing is basically where two people play 10 matches of ST and whoever has the most wins, wins! Easy enough, and ST goes by hella quick, could be fun I think.

I would be down for both of them

Who’s gonna be the first of the showdowns? I will battle anyone!

We could probably incorporate these different types of showdowns at future tournaments.

and future casual gatherings.

I dunno if I like the sound of ten beatdowns from any of the non-low tier Seattle players.

So your two chars are picked before hand in mikado, therefor eliminating counter picking, right?

The cup is HALF FULL JULIAN. HALF FULL. Remember that. Don’t be a negative nancy.

And yes, the characters are picked beforehand TMK in Mikado style tourneys.

Honestly, it seems like I can rarely get wins nowadays… you guys helped me improve by making fun of my fullscreen supers, so I stopped that and got better. But lately I can’t seem to do what I need to do and I’m not sure why. Is it just me or did I used to be better, or am I the same and everyone else got better? I know Axel is now better than me and I used to beat him pretty consistantly, but other than that?

I’m really looking for some help on how I could improve my game, because I practiced Ryu a lot on my new stick and didn’t do so hot at this tournament.
