On the topic of Japanese I have forgotten some of the Kanji that I do know pretty easily since I haven’t been keeping up with it, but it seems to come back to me once I pick up a manga. Of course when I learn more Kanji I’m sure my brain is gonna fry.
Language is a crazy thing. People who knew back home would ask how I would not know Spanish despite growing up in Arizona in strong Spanish speaking household, but that’s the way it goes.
You only need to know between 200 and 500 kanji characters to be fluent in Japanese. First year Japanese at most colleges covers about 100 of those bastards. The rest reside in phonetic symbols. Contrast that with having to learn around 15000 characters to be fluent in Chinese. No wonder my people had a thing for opium.
Aw, I check my newly bookmarked www.SobatCarnival.com this morning, expecting to see the strategy sections from the YBH for all characters translated. No updates since the last time I checked it (mere hours ago). I would have thought that Alex might have translated DeeJay’s section before everyone else’s. Perhaps this speaks to his altruistic nature. He opts to make ready the sections for other players’ needs before thinking of himself. Or, perhaps he just doesn’t want us to know what tactics he’ll employ. Check out the site, if you haven’t already.
Whatever the case, final tournaments of the season get underway tonight at Preppy’s. One of the reasons that ST has taken off in recent weeks is the prevailing belief that during the infancy of this game’s community in our area, EVERYONE has a shot at winning. There’s some truth to it, as 7 different people have just shown up and placed 1st or 2nd in their first tournament of the season. So, show up, see what you’re made of. Hop on the band wagon while it’s early.
Marvel at 8PM for $5 (Umbrellastyle and Full Screen Super will be playing), ST at 11PM for $1.
I studied Japanese for three years in HS too and forgot most of it as well, if you don’t have any practice at all, it’s pretty easy. And I used to be one of the better students in the class.
I figured there wasn’t much point doing DeeJay first, because I could just refer straight to the book, and no one else plays that dude

I considered giving up fighting games because I was using it to relieve my stress of my shitty life+long distance relationship and it was actually adding to that problem… but I’m addicted, I probably would play games even if my hair started falling out.

Alex, copyright laws and personal ethics aside, will you eventually make the entire YBH available on your site? I’m wondering about the hit box, frame data, and damage info. Or is this stuff already available online somewhere? If so, hook us up with links.
As far as I know, it’s not currently online anywhere, and I don’t have a scanner, so I don’t know how I would get it up even if I wanted to 
maybe one day!
