I’m not sure if you mean anti-air moves or when people punch the wrong way, screwing you over.
If you mean anti air DPs in HDR, if you are Ryu on the player one side, and someone is crossing you up, you DP by pressing Left, and then half circle from right to left and then punch.
If I recall from readin about this a while ago you can input the move command towards them on their way up then just hit the button as they go over you. But they have to mistime the crossup for it to hit or else you will be in block/hit stun
Umm, honda jumping fierce effing destroys lariat, giving gief some nasty bruises. On top of that, back roundhouse outranges all of gief’s moves except ex palm and is faster than 90% of his normals. Honda has more than enough tools to go head-to-head with gief. Try the matchup with someone who has a decent idea of what they’re doing with honda, like Jason. Lariat really isn’t that great an anti-air. The majority of the cast has one or two jumping moves that go right through lariat to hit him in the head, since he has no invulnerability at any point in his body (except the arms of course). If gief wants to turtle, he can get kicked or ex hundred handed all day.
With Honda on 1p side, block the 3 hits of fierce psycho crusher then wait half a second and input his super as if trying to fly toward the 2p side. He’ll super toward the 1p side and hit bison in the feet.
It is a little weak that Capcom made it so easy to hit cross-ups, but considering that Shoryus have been nerfed from the “answer to all attacks” that they are in ST, I don’t think its too bad.
I was in the training mode for a few minutes with Gouken after finally getting him…This guy is fucking buff, he’s got some stupid ass shit like air focus’ and counters and shit…wonder if he’ll be banned come evo or not.
Anyways, I did a little 4 minute blurb about some stupid shit he has…you can watch it here if your interested:
I’m not sure how often people will hit a FA lvl 2 with Gouken, but shit man…this is what i’ll be doing if I ever get one.
And btw, E honda would not win against Gief. Your saying Honda got pokes…you act like Gief doesn’t have answers to that…The idea of damage potential alone should sum up that matchup. Both characters game revolves around getting in on each other…all in all, you think your gonna beat Gief by poking at him, lol. Jump in beats gief’s lariats? news to me, as i just tested it out for 2 minutes and Honda was lucky if he traded…even IF in the case c.mp destroyed anything that he had…Honda beats gief? lol
so, I'm pretty bad at this game. I really like it though. I cant seem to get my head around cancel's or F/A's. Even basic combo's are a real pain. If anyone around the seattle u-district area willing to get together and beat on a noobie. It would be much appreciated.
I would supply beers and pizza if you were into that thing. I would ber willing to learn over live as well, but would prefer being about to watch someone do the moves for timing and such.
Masturfader - I am not a pro, and actually haven’t played the game yet. Will buy once my 360 stick arrives. But I know I want to level up, and it’s always good to do that with somebody else, so… yeah? I’m definitely in the U-District area…
I will try to hold some SFIV scrub scrambles in the next week or two, I just need all of my stuff to get in. My TE comes tommorow so that’s almost all of it.
The lack of block strings in this game are making me really fucking hate it. This game REALLY does not reward attacking very much. No damage is typically ever exchanged unless BOTH characters are trying to attack, barely ever is damage dealt when one character is attacking the other, unless he makes a blatant mistake and gets punished for over extending himself.
If I have a life lead, I am just cooling back from now on, fuck this “trying to finish people off” bullshit.
Also, does anyone else ever get it where they cannot block ultras? Me and Keith both had multiple times where the ultra was a million miles away and neither of us could block them.
Lack of block strings? Unable to block ultras? Really? I really need to watch you play this game. There are a lot of block strings, I guess I don’t understand the situation or what’s happening while you’re playing. What character are you using? Also, it would be best to play this game as if it’s new, forget what should or shouldn’t work because of prior games. That just serves to piss you off. I do think that this game has to be played slower than others so I do agree with you there.
And regarding Gief’s lariats losing to jumpins, there’s such a thing as doing lariats from crouch that make the move nearly unbeatable. I haven’t seen anything beat a lariat from crouch in this game and you would be lucky if it trades.
Dunno if you guys read this but Wiz and a few SoCal players wrote this up. It’s pretty good. I’m sure a lot of it is common knowledge since you guys have been playing at narrows and GW. But some might not be and it’ll help new people.
