We Need More SFIV Players in Seattle

I need to learn those dash cancels, because otherwise all I do is sit on my ultra and super bars for the chance to use them and kill my opponent.

OK im really sucking at this game…How exactly you suppose to play gief? Is there some kind of video i can watch? I want to get good before Friday night, i want to win that gamecrazy tournament…Someone give me crash course…His best move is the EXpimpslap right…What’s his best poke move?

Hit me up for sf4 games, on in the evenings mostly (360 version)!

Spam standing MP and mash Jab SPD on block, LOL. I’m not even kidding either I’ve won like 90% of the maybe 50 or so times I’ve played him just doing that.

hey, if you want we can hook up and get some games in next week (after Tuesday I’ll have my stick supposedly).

I’m going to completely suck too. We could get some good practice in.

pm me or something

Pablo: Not sure if you did challenge mode yet, but you unlock a title for Gief called, “Hardbody”. I thought you’d be interested in that.

Yeah SRKev already informed me of that. When I get some alone time this weekend I will try to unlock it, after getting at some white girls hella hardbody.

Is there no invincibility in moves in SF4? Honda can sit on flashkick now.

Use standing or crouching hard punch instead of flash kick now.

EX moves generally have some invincibility.

Yeah that is what it seems like, gross.

Question regarding cross ups. Let’s say I am Ryu facing right. Some dude crosses me up, even though I input the SRK facing to the right, the ish comes out in opposite direction. I guess it’s a good thing? Anyone else seen this?

EX greenhand has mad invincibility about half way though or more. It can go through a flashkick, and I am assuming much, much more.

EX moves have a lot of invincibility. You just need to try them all out. EX Cannon spike has some too, so it can go through Ryu’s and Sagat’s fireballs. Very easy to punish with.

Honda sumo splash shouldn’t be an issue for you because you get a free SPD on block from every version except the EX one (iirc). Zangief bombs on Honda.

I’m not sure if you are already doing this, but the difference in ranges on the Jab SPD and Fierce SPD is pretty ridiculous. Jab’s range is pretty crazy, I try to use it the most unless its an obvious punish.

ok after being more patient w/ gief i’ve won like 30 in a row now…Either too many scrubs or im improving…Need to play someone who’s been playing this for awhile, i want to see how i match up…Someone send me a friend request please…

baklakiller

 Only if Honda is stupid enough to do random sumo splashes.

Well the important thing to remember is that this isn’t ST/HDR. What’s Honda supposed to do to Zangief? Sit on headbutt? Lariat ruins that. And when Zangief gets a knockdown all it takes is one glowfist to get back into range and from there you know what time it is. I question how Honda even does damage to a turtling Zangief. Zangief beats Honda in a footsies war too. This matchup (to me) is the exact opposite from ST. Zangief turtles, Honda has to rush him down. You’ll be surprised how many characters you’ll beat playing a patient/turtle Zangief. You’ve got the most life in the game, probably the best anti airs, the best command grab, and the best EX move in the game. So you can manage if you play smart. I think the only character Honda beats so far is Viper.

Yeah they flipped the script on dat bitch for this match up in SFIV. You don’t want to get in on Honda. Keep that fool away.

Yeah to be honest I fucking HATE this feature and it’s keeping in line with the dumbing down of the game for fucking scrubs. There already WAS a way to anti-crossup DP the right way, but it required a commitment because if they didnt’ crossup, you would not get a DP out. It’s SO FUCKING ANNOYING to not cross someone up because they entere the playskool Dragon punch motion THE WRONG WAY and it still worked.

Get at me with anti-crossup DPs in ST and I might be impressed.

I created a thread about it in the HDR forum, people didn’t say much in it though. How do you purposefully do wrong way moves in HDR? I’ve only really tried it with honda’s super so far.

It happens automatically in IV?

Yes, it does, I did it multiple times today on my lunch break against some peeps whenever they tried jumping in on wakeup. That shit is heat seeking. As Blaze put it, it is very playskool of them do to this.

At least for non-charge characters in ST, you can start the move input but finish it in the opposite direction–I think. Seems very hard to do that with charge characters. In SFIV, I assume shit like flash kicks go in the “right” direction.
