What I dont get is why no one did wake up grab when Diago was moving into them. I’m pretty sure you can wake up grab someone even out of an EX attack.

Ultimately, I’m glad that poongko lost to Daigo. People at SRK were writing off Daigo, saying poongko was the new face for Ryu.
For some reason, I knew he would lose to Daigo. Although he has great execution and plays the game like it’s some kind of combo exhibition, he doesn’t seem to have some of the main fundamentals down…such as spacing/zoning, when to use/not to use unsafe moves, etc. He was throwing out so many random tatsu’s and shoryuken’s in his match against Daigo. The SFIV scene isn’t as fierce in Korea, so he can rushdown on the Korean’s all day. However, that shit ain’t gonna fly against Daigo.
Oh, and I don’t think poongko’s “trash” as Mickey put it…I support my fellow Korean brotha. However, I feel that his play style is a bit nonsensical at times. If you’re gonna be playing against the best of the best, you can’t afford to take so many risks like he did. All in all, thank you for the show sir, but flashy combo’s ain’t gonna cut it. I hope this was a rude awakening for poongko, and he can change his play style for the next inevitable SFIV showdown.
People already said their 2 cents…but if you ask me, by walking forward into a knocked down character, I’m TRYING to bait them doing wake up throw, which is easily beaten by a meaty attack. It’s more mental then anything…Think of it as, doing something (wether it be an attack or walking forward, or blocking whatever the situation) for a reason
Yeah that makes sense Mickey, just that if I was in a corner and had no ex to escape I would just grab wake up and if he does tech it atleast I have a little space to do something.
But wow I just went into training mode and I figured out a great way to get my block strings down. I just play against ryu, record him doing an dragon punch, then try to do block string through it. If I mess up the timing of the combo at all I will get dragon punched. It’s pretty dope.

Yeah I was kinda confused by those statements based off the video itself. It hurts me to watch that video. Future and I were constantly picking Rufus against Cole all last week in preparation for him playing Wong. It’s kinda crazy that they ended up in the same bracket. I think though, Cole coming so close to winning shows that SFIV really can be anyone’s game. It’s also encouraging for us because he’s one of our best players and he did so well at the event. In my opinion I don’t think there is a, “best coast/area” yet. Probably would be best to assume that everyone’s on equal footing right now.

So I was messing around with Rog in some ranked matches and I played against this Fuerte. It was late in the match and I had some EX and an ultra and was across the screen so I did an ex charge straight punch and the Fuerte did the slide kick. Right after I absorbed the slide kick I input Ultra and it canceled and landed. I’m sure I never see any of the Rogs doing this because it’s so situational but I’m sure it would work against my sliding ass lol
