We Need More SFIV Players in Seattle

You guys REALLY should listen to Gootecks’ SFIV podcast. It’s so good I can forgive him for liking third strike. Check it out:

htttp://www.gootecks.com

The episode with Combofiend was not that technical as far as SFIV is concerned, but it’s really interesting to hear a top player break down the psychological aspects of high level play.

The episode with Ed Ma(?) is really good, because it discusses frame data. For instance, the 50/50 mixup off of Ken’s kara throw, and I didn’t know that non-ex Banishing fists=free throws on Gief.

Yeah its fine.

That stuff is probably helpful for people that suck at fighting games. Also, get a car and come to gameworks please. kthxbai.

So is anyone living in the downtown Seattle area gonna check out KinoKuniya to see if they have they masters guide?

I don’t see why they wouldn’t, they had the the VF5 Black Book when it came out I don’t see why they wouldn’t for this game…just a thought.

my brothers the supervisor inthe grocery section. ill ask him tonight while im in line waiting for the google phone… ;/

I will make it to gameworks sometime probably, I can catch a bus directly to downtown fairly easily, soooo…

Where you been broseph?

By far the most definite maybe thus far.

You just know they’re gonna delay it until the movie is coming out.

By far the most definite confirmation thus far

Since I’m getting bricks shit on me over in the tacoma thread for posting this there and not here. tourney, BC, Saturday 11/15/2008
Tournament Thread

I’ve decided that when I get my hands on this game I think Im gonna play viper. Watching some vids she seems like my type of character.

Man she takes MAD execution and technicality…good luck when you get hands on it. What are your reasons for wanting to play her?

“She is a cool looking character!”

Like all the bitch characters (Akuma, Vega included), her vitality is also one of the lowest in the game. It seems like she requires so much technicality, but you usually get little to no reward.

When Gene first started player Viper, I saw him losing to a lot of random scrubs. Even now, he says it’s hard to consistently win with her. Not trying to discourage you from playing her, just letting you know that she’s very technical, and it’s disheartening when her attacks deal so little damage, and she takes damage like a little bitch. It’s a real slap in the face when some random Sagat scrub steps in, and can win with a few random sweeps and Tiger uppercuts.

Personally I like to pick a character that sticks to my playstyle. I’ll play with other characters myself, however I’m doing so to balance my weaknesses in my other character…or also just to have fun…but fuck whenever I choose c.viper, I never have fun

They should’ve put Utada in SFIV…

her ultra: she sings one note and the opponent instantly falls in love and turns into that robot in can you keep a secret video and then KO.

he super: she slows shit down matrix style and first love plays

moves: she has a 0 frame teleport like she did in the automatic vid.

fuck. knowing capcom, she’d prolly be a shoto ;/

SFIV in FEBRUARY!

I’m pretty hyped.

Yeah, I play Viper as my main because she’s the most fun I’ve had in SFIV so far period, but it’s really disheartening that you basically have to outplay your opponent three times as much as they do.

Going 1-2 against the third place finisher in the BC tourney with Viper makes me feel pretty comfortable with her, but I almost feel like that first win was more due to him being unfamiliar with the matchup, since I had at least played his Rufus a few times.

Then I played Sagat in casuals and beat up people way better than me. Feels like even though SFIV is balanced, the top two (Sagat, Zangief) really fuck up a lot of the cast with little effort. I really can’t wait for february to come and reveal how the rest of the cast plays…
