Would you guys who hate the game like it more if you played it on the low damage setting? Just curious if having to work a little harder for damage and having xfc be less ridiculous would make things more fun for you. Seeing all the combos people are coming up with, I don’t think timeouts would be an issue. Also it would make resets viable again.
Went into a game on XBL earlier today, guy was like 30 and 5, and my record is 11 and 8 or something like that. Anyway, guy was fucking terrible and I trounced him.
Game is feeling a lot better, it’s ridiculous and I still hate parts of it but I am still having a lot of fun with it.
Having everything be an 80% combo right now only kind of works in my view because the game is so fucking distance based. If you nerf it down, then I think you get more time-outs. Even with low damage, XFC potentially dominates.
Superjump forward being nerfed makes me cry. How do you nerf such a vital movement? O_o
Like zach said, even if you change the damage setting the discrepancy still exists. You might not die by 1 sentinel combo, but the damage is only changed by a magnitude, not equalized.
I have no doubt that Sent is going to be softbanned at Evo. lol. At least this year. Sent is stupid. I was fucking around in training mode today. His damage output is phenomenal. Seriously. With Xfactor Lvl3 :u::s:, :s:, :u:, , , :s:, :qcf::l: is 1.08m. No meter. Without X, that same shit is almost 500K.
As a barometer, Wesker doing , :h:, :qcf::l:, :df::h:, , :h:, :qcf::l:, :a1:~:df::h:, :dp::atk::atk: is only 1.3m and that’s a Lvl3 X with a Lvl3 Hyper and ~880K without the X.
I understand this, but I still feel like lower damage would encourage smarter play. Forcing you to use more mixups and resets. Less of this I hit you and your dead stuff.
At least sent would have to hit me twice to win. But I totally see what you are saying and agree with you.
I’m kinda talking out of my ass though. Most of my time in this game has been training room stuff and I probably should get more matchup experience before I say anything
Well, lower damage would mean one mistake doesn’t get you killed. Kind of like what made SSF4 a lot nicer for most characters than vanilla SF4. Less damaging Ultras and such made it easier to stay in the game if you slipped up once or twice, whereas in Vanilla one roundhouse into Ultra from Sagat basically finished the game.
But timeouts are kind of not all that uncommon as it is, so I don’t know that overall I would like the change. Really my biggest gripe is I just wish X-Factor wasn’t SO good. Tone that down a bit and it makes it less annoying.
Personally, the game is good and is lots of fun. But of course I’m just now getting “serious” into fighting games so my opinion has a different basis. I still think though if you took out XFactor the game would go from good to great. I know Capcom wanted to keep the “broken, unbalanced” feeling from MvC2, but doing that shit by adding a whack mechanic like XFactor is bad.
Enough ranting though. Right now I’m just trying to play online to get real match experience. I figured playing CPU on Very Hard doesn’t really cut it. I can pull all my shit and mixups in training mode, but when it comes to a real match I have trouble landing everything. I guess that’s what separates good players from average players.
i currently only have a problem with xfactor sentinel. either take away his damage boost, or take away his speed. the combo of both is retarded. it makes his fucking armor moves safe on block and that is retarded.
I don’t see Sent getting banned. The only thing I can see getting banned is some sort of cheap ass gambit-glitch esque trick or a dumb, easy to start infinite that works on everyone. I can see this game at high levels being hilarious though. Just one touch deaths everywhere. With reverse X factor OCVs everywhere.
I don’t see him getting banned either, the thing that really makes things overpowered at the moment is X-Factor, and I don’t see that changing much either.
It’s gross, but both players can do it and I don’t think it’s necessarily broken. Give the game a few more months before any concept of banning or changing things for the sake of competition.
I think we’ve got a while before we will really know if the game is broken or not. Though it certainly seems that way in some aspects at the moment.
i got a theory. why in the world would capcom make sentinel so fucking strong? to appeal to the old school. sentinel breaks this game. and old school broke this game for us. lawl
I haven’t had too much trouble with input lag once in the game, but yeah not having spectator mode is pretty ridiculous. It seems Capcom kind of half-asses everything aside from the main game at first, and only if they sell enough copies do they bother cleaning it up and fixing the multiplayer.
I don’t know if I need to change some router settings or what, but my input lag for online matches is probably about a half second. I get stuttering, slowdown, it’s really miserable.
