lol I was tryin to go to sleep haha.
Playing until 6am with Mickey and Elias…neighbor comes by: “I don’t know what you’re doing, but please close your window and try to keep it down…”
old lady, I wonder what some of the things she thought were…
As we played and talked about the game, we came to a consensus that the game engine is super fun and only a few key decisions make the game…whatever it is.
X-Factor: distribution of power/speed among cast, breaking block stun, braindead comeback factor…sigh
Hitstun decay/high damage: preventing infinites…but choose one, not both. (see honda dmg reduce/aa remove in AE) =[
Sentinel: the best joke Capcom has ever played…honestly with the current settings, he might be ok as a 1-of…
Anyways. Love playing the game, super fun, but will likely stand by my choice to not take this game competitively. Too silly. Down for casuals though, hit me up!
Online might be better with my headset disconnected. Or I might have just had really miserable luck before. Or maybe I’m imagining things while getting used to lag. I had one match last night where it was actually playable online. Will continue testing.
EDIT: my phone can has internet! Barely.
Sent from my shitty nokia.
I am going to play this game competitively, although unless they do an update, I feel like I will be playing it competitively against Sentinel. I am sure there are character that with undiscovered nasty stuff, but the fact that his moves have super armor even against hard attacks coming out of the air is ridiculous. Rocket punch off of everything, including all throws (and air throw) seems very tacked on.
Otherwise, I like how gross everyone is. Gross in a good way. Tron drill 5 times in the corner for some reason is funny. Everyone else has things that are just as ridiculous.
I am working on getting a rhythm down with Trish’s trap and Dorm’s ground fire to make sure I am always standing on something to break a combo and start comboing my opponent if I get hit. I am using Akuma right now because he is so good, but I don’t really have a place for him as a team member. Still seems to be doing just fine though. I may start laying down traps with Trish while rushing down in the corner just to further limit their options and cover my ass in case of mistakes.
If anyone sees me online, feel free to send me a fight request.
Good games Carlos. Definitely showed me I need to be more careful with my assists. I’ve been thinking about some more effective way to deal with Zero’s pressure with Dorm. Not to scared of the dash mixups unless Sentinel drones are in the mix as it seems like Zero is really punishable in that dash.
I suppose I’ll use this thread as an introduction…
Been wanting to play fighting games competitively for a while, but was previously limited by location/school… Anyways, I plan to start playing MvC3 competitively; going to build a stick, which hopefully will be done within the week. Not especially experienced in fighting games, but I’ve been in the music game scene off and on since it started, so timing based combos and hand speed shouldn’t be issues. Anyways, I’ve got MvC3 on PS3, live in Redmond, and will probably start attending nearby events.
C’mon guys.
Just hit the lab and figure out what beats Sentinels typical BS. Snap him back in the beginning and take him out early before he gets lvl 3 XF. Just like Phoenix.
I said the same thing on facebook. Like, sure you have to be on point if you snap him in but if you can be on point, Sentinel is no longer scary
It also helps to alleviate the pressure from his Drones if he can’t throw them out while someone else is moving in.
welcome.
fighting games are a bit harder than just landing combos.
enjoy your stay.
Be careful of this…to echo what Frank said, that Starslayer girl was claiming up and down she could be tops in SFIV because she had world-class guitar hero skillz but she never got even semi-decent at it from any vids I saw of her…completely different skillsets.
Where are you located? If you are near Burien or can drive there let me know, I open up my house for MvC3 and ST on arcade cab sometimes, hopefully you can make it.
This game is fun but also makes me want to kill myself.

The MvC3 suicide prevention hotline. Kiets is on standby anxiously awaiting to help those in need brother!
Absolutely, I’ve found that although I can do great combos in training, I can never seem to start them in games, and when I do, I completely botch them.
I’m just saying that most would agree that the game skillset most complementary to the fighting game genre is the rhythm genre. Mainly Beatmania/Stepmania for me. I’m actually building my controller to complement my music game background. Stickless controller, Sanwa for attacks, and clicky Happ pushbuttons for directions, for better audible feedback. (If I feel bold and have time, I might even hook up an arduino to produce different midi tones for each button)
Redmond/Bellevue. Could potentially make it, heavily dependent on my schedule.
Just IMO but it’s quite possible this would be incredibly annoying to those you are playing with…make sure to have a switch for this feature.
Cool, weekends work best for me and also tuesdays. Are you interested in Super Turbo too?
Definitely. Planning on hooking the button inputs and circuit board to some sort of serial connector, so I can easily swap an arduino in and out, or switch to different console types.
I’ll play whatever, but probably not going to practice it heavily or anything.
Any difference between the 360/PS3 version?
Using pushbuttons instead of a D-pad would be kind of hilarious. I was going to say that it would be completely infeasible, but honestly Marvel motions are mostly pretty simple, so it might be great. You’d have to be a complete beast to pull off a 720 on something like that, though.
Being able to input motions normally during super freeze is kind of great. If you’ve got a super with a lot of invincibility (most level 3’s fall into this category), somebody trying to chip you with a super = get owned. It’s probably great for people with teleports, too. I don’t know how fast those are in this game, though. Speaking of which: Sentinel air super. Yeesh.
There are people who have done it in previous fighters. It works it’s just a personal thing, same buttons different input basically. Just like people who can play well on a keyboard.
Whats up NW pals? I’m new to the scene and thought I’d pop in this thread and say hello. I played mvc2 and soul calibur 2 moderately while going to school in Chicago and casually played sf4/ssf4 with some friends here in Seattle. All of my local friends aren’t really enjoying MvC3 (our skill gap is really huge b/c most haven’t played versus games) and I’m looking for more local Seattle people to play with. Feel free to add my 360 gamertag. I’d say I’m pretty average right now and looking to step my game up.
Thanks!
