We Need More MvC3 Players In The NW!

I would be if I had a 360 pcb prehacked, I have an empty stick box with a p360 in it that Keith will let me borrow for one year… I am just too lazy to get it working.

Alright, I LOVE the game; I fucking despise the people that play it.
I mean really, though. Nigga is using Spencer, right? Son sees that I’m using Sentinel and he got me down to my last character. He has two characters left with like 2% more life than me combined total. So what does this fucker do? He tries to ceiling swing for the remaining 20+ seconds of the match. I’m sitting there like, “…ok, THIS nigga things he’s using a keepaway character and think he’s just gonna swing along the roof of my fucking house and shit… Aiight watch this…”

He was in the middle of a swing just above my character… I super jumped and hit him with the XFactor :m: Then I sat in my little corner blocking his wack ass attempts at breaking my guard. I can normally block high-lows all day. Shit was hilarious.

So Zero / Chun / Iron Man wasn’t working out too well for me, thrown in Akuma instead of Chun and I seem to be doing a lot better, not sure why. Probably because I’m not just spamming legs hah.

Time outs occur too frequently in this game…I think it’s because of Xfactor

Those days still exist. If you’re getting beat by people who aren’t good at fighting games, it’s not the game you should be blaming.

$0.02

I think it’s because of intent, with a little bit of XFactor mixed in.

Part of the argument that could be made is that a lot of people don’t actually wanna get good at the game, they wanna win with slimeball methods. Like… almost any team with Storm/Ironman. Get some hits, fly north for the rest of the match. This is especially useful for characters that CAN’T fly and don’t have the reach to hit while doing a Super jump. No skill, just persistence.

Playing keep away is a useful tactic. I don’t play it myself but it was a big part of MvC2 by some of the best players in the world. It’s less prominent in MvC3 because the ceiling is much lower so there is less room to runaway.

My gripe people say this game is easy, but they’re just salty that they’re MvC2/older SF skills aren’t translating and they have, so far, refused to adapt so they get beat by people who have only ever played this game. I’m sure it’s frustrating, but blaming the game is sad.

I’ve heard too much bitching about how simple and easy SF4 and MvC3 and yet… those people aren’t winning any tourneys. If it’s so easy to them, it should be free money. end rant

^-- Good example of the problem even at high levels:

There are a variety of matches where the XFC gamble mechanic defines the match more so than anything else. And level 3 XFC’d Sent even mashing buttons can really wreck shoop. =\

I suck at this game right now and know it and backed off from playing so I could watch and learn. But mashing works really well in this game, helping you beat people of an otherwise equivalent skill level simply because you’re mashing more than they are. Quite odd.

Well, I don’t know that day 4 high level play is really that high level. Except for maybe Jwong so far. I feel like the game will change and X-factor will be less of a deciding factor a few years from now. I dunno, I guess we’ll see.

Edit: I don’t know that it’s the mechanic itself but the proper/improper use of it. Using it too early against some characters, using it to kill a character+an assist, etc. Using X-factor correctly, I think, is what makes it a fair mechanic. And both players have it at their disposal.

I do agree that XF Sent is retarded though. lol

I can see it now. All the tier lists will have two slots occupied by both Phoenix and Sentinel. lol.

BROKEN: XFactor Sentinel.
S: Sentinel, Dark Phoenix
A:Lots of folks
B:Lots of folks
C:Phoenix
D: Viewtiful Joe

Also, the default scheme makes X-Factor activation somewhat easier on a stick. Just three fingers and a thumb in their usual position instead of having to hit a square arrangement of buttons.

LOL Lee. I’m too busy being a scrub at this game right now. Haven’t actually played with anyone except Emil while I was a little drunk and one match with Josh online. I been trying to figure shit out in training room mostly, but I’m not used to trying to create combos cuz I just learned what combos worked from watching others in (S)SF4. But the game is hella fun and is keeping me very entertained. I wanna see some beasts in person sooooon.

From what I have been seeing of X-factor, I don’t like it. The only comebacks I like to see look like this

Where someone clearly outplayed someone else to come back from terrible odds.

What I hate is seeing is one character using lvl 3 X-factor destroying the other persons entire team in the space of a few seconds. My personal opinion, which is based off watching the game since I haven’t gotten my order yet, is that X-factor is an interesting mechanic, but I would love to see it toned down a bit. Shit just seems WAY too good.

Other than that gripe, I think the game looks fun as hell and I can’t wait to just grind the shit out of training room when it get’s here.

Lmfao. Apparently, if Phoenix dies WITH the hit that gives her five bars, she won’t become Dark Phoenix. lol @ me. Luckily, I have Sent after her. lol.

Gotta agree that X-Factor, as it is now, is a bad mechanic in the game. Don’t get me wrong though; I’m not gonna cry about it. I abuse the shit out of it when I have to. Putting people in infinite blockstrings to get an easy chip kill is nasty. I’d like to see Capcom come up with something to fix the “ezmode” comeback factor of Lvl 3 XF. I’d like to see the mechanic still in, but just implemented in a different way.

Also the whole mashing thing is true to a point. Mashing out actually saves you more often than not if you’re doing it right. Kinda contradicts itself, but it works. It’s actually quite easy to mash out of some mixups and resets right now. However I believe that in time, once we all tighten out our shit, that’ll change.

Did you really just say that to wenzel?

Again, your posts are unintentionally hilarious. Marvel 3 marks the end of an era. Noob fighters run everything now. It makes money so it makes sense. The only let down is for those of us who have been through it all, knowing full well capcom was capable of so much more. My adoration towards the genre was sacrificed so that noobs could join in on the fun. I am being punished because it took you noobs 10 fucking years to man up? Really? Sheeeeiiiiiit. Sorry if it seems like I am coming at you strong shredz, but it is hard to just sit back and let that mindset prevail while using low budget vernacular made popular by certain minorities residing on the east coast.

To be fair, a lot of the gripes are the same ones that are said whenever a new Vs game comes out. I remember people bitching about the mechanics and Cable when MvC2 came out and now you get laughed at if you try to bring those up as a knock against the game. The game is easier no doubt but it’s not like n00bs are gonna be busting out flight combos in game within the first 3 months so yeah.

Nah man, I’m not trippin. I agree that it’s a shame that noobs have control over what get developed these days but I also know that it’s a smart business decision that’s never going to change as you sort of pointed out. Noobs outnumber us 30-1 if not more so they call the shots.

I think as competitive players, it’s up to us to take the game to it’s limits and leave the scrubs in the dust because no one will make a game just for us.

I wasn’t trying to beef with Wenzel or anything. I know he’s much more of authority on fighting games than I am. It’s just a bummer to see established players forsake a game that seems “too easy” in the first week of play.
