I just found a storm to sentinel dhc combo that brings your opponent into the corner, and does 1mil19k dmg. Will probably video it tomorrow. uses 3 bars no x-factor.
edit: it literally will take your opponent from one corner to the other corner. I will have to test on more character types but I am currently testing against doom
I don’t use many from Mission Mode verbatim but I think Mission Mode gives you a good example of the types of possibilities in the game. I have come up with many of my own combos and resets after seeing whats possible for the character in Mission Mode.
Just played this game for a few hours…
WOW. That is really all I can say. I was actually excited to see what all the fuss was about, but man, massive amounts of really dumb shit is in this game. Horrible controls, movement is retarded, xfactor is unnecessary, easy mode mechanics, and etc. Severe disappointment. However, I can see why people find it fun. Just not what I want in my fighters.
Now for my unwanted opinion.
I love the game, but for one major reason: I didn’t come from a background of better games. Oh, I’ve PLAYED MvC2 in the past. I’ve PLAYED ST in the past. Part of the reason that I enjoyed S4 so much and why I’m absolutely loving MvC3 is that I didn’t have a strong basis in games that demand so much more out of their players. I didn’t really start looking at MvC2 as a game that I’m interested in until the shit was released on XBLA. Honestly. I played it back on the DC with a couple of friends, on pads, with low tier but cool characters. You know, shit like Jin/Hayato/Strider. No concept of team synergy, didn’t know about DHCs or snapbacks or any of that shit. So I don’t have an opinion on what I wanted out of this game or what it could have/should have been.
That said, I will be taking M3 and M2 seriously as my main games for a long while. M3 because that’s what everyone is playing and it’s fun as shit. Yeah, it has it’s flaws, but I’m not set in ways that would make these flaws affect my playing or winning. M2 because, well, the NW is KNOWN for dope Marvel. If I’m gonna be here, I wanna at least be able to understand what gets y’all hype.
I mean, if you’re on my XBL Friends, you can see my stats in Ranked. I’m not doing too hot, but that’s because of my own shortcomings and my failure to adapt quickly enough to these wack ass Dante/MODOK/Chris keepaway teams.
I DO look unfavorably on XFactor, though. So fucking unnecessary. Shit, if it’s in there though, I’mma use that shit and I’m gonna ABUSE that shit. I ONLY use it Level3 and usually at around half health. Level3 Xfactor Sentinel is literally a kill on 1/2 of the cast, just doing :d::s::u:
I didn’t even want this game until Sentinel was revealed. He was the first character that I picked in M2 when it was dropped on XBLA. lol.
*Edit: In case anyone is wondering (probably not) my new team is Wesker(wallbounce)/Phoenix(trap)/Sentinel(punch).
My sentinal is gdlk
who’s isn’t?
Mine… My sentinel is a toaster…
cuz it brings the heat… right?
So apparently I’m part of a huge shipping error where 17% of the people did not receive their order. Mine is stuck in IN for some reason. The 17% should be getting the game sometime next week.
Blech.
I think maybe I’ll pick up the guide to keep me busy until it arrives.
Torn between switching to a ‘marvel-like’ control scheme with A1 and A2 on the right side, or sticking with the default LMH, SAA scheme so I can use the same layout as everyone else. Having to hit the ‘right’ button to call out your only remaining assist is, as Preppy mentioned, really annoying. Compounded by not having your teammates re-order when somebody dies.
I played my very first arcade mode and two matches yesterday, trying to learn Chun/Dante/Sent. Chun feels like she should be at least okay, but I can only do basic stuff with her. Dante is easy combo city, though - C, launch, C, QCF+A, C, launch, C, QCF+C, super. I don’t know how to actually land a hit with him, though. His air dash is kinda slow and I don’t know what I’m doing. Tried that in a match and got hit by a random super about 3 times in a row.
EDIT: For the control scheme, maybe it doesn’t even matter, since there isn’t even a well-observed standard for button layout on sticks. But it’s kinda nice to just be able to pick ‘Type-y’ instead of setting each button.
I say stick with the intended scheme, since the exchange button takes a variety of different mechanics and places them in one button. Some characters use the button in completely different ways that I think would be much harder on the hands if the button moved from the “a” spot.
I think we need some OFSB input regarding all this. Troy started the thread, he needs to get up on this game.
TRIZZLE!
I can’t believe how annoying it is to have to press the “right” assist button instead of the mvc2 way. WHY would they change something to be MORE annoying, that doesn’t add anything whatsoever to the gameplay?!?!?? ARRRGH!!!
Remember back when you actually had to be good at fighting games to beat people? Man, those were the days.
I don’t know what you talking about b. lol.
I went through and played this game a bit last night (again). I tried some of the other control schemes, only to find myself much more confused. It’s the difference, to me, in using the SNK arcade sticks and pads. Both are great, but one was clearly made for fighting games, the other for most everything else.
I’m wondering if having akuma and trish on my team is too redundant. Thoughts?
Nah, shouldn’t be. They have a decent upclose DHC and Akuma is rushdown, Trish is defense and traps and can rushdown.
I use Type-B as far as controls go. I’m used to Blazblue so the :s: is basically the Drive button for me. lol.
I don’t think so. Hurricane Kick assist on Akuma for rushdown and Peekaboo assist on Trish for setups and traps. Both can play a good keepaway and rushdown when needed as well.
So is anyone playing this on Happs?
