We need more Aion players in Seattle

For a second there, I thought the thread was “We need more asian players in Seattle” which made me lol.

dont’ want to pay a monthly fee?

Play DFO =D

oh and la grande (99.3) gets bumped at my job ALL THE TIME. There’s times where I have them sit through the “drive @ 5” on C 89.5 though. They counter act that by bringing in reggatone CD’s and i further counter that by bringing in Anjunabeats CD’s. It’s an endless war…kinda like Aion!

nothing will ever replace wow imo…

wow has gotten so bad and so easy mode but im sure aion is dope. id love to play aion…

If you guys are irking regarding monthly fees for mmo’s, you should wait for Guild Wars 2.

This is pretty much why I don’t play MMOs. They are all built like this, and I was pretty unimpressed with those kinds of “Quests” when I first found out about them.

This quest grind is KILLING me, dunno how long i can take it…not even 25 yet. I might have used all my MMO patience on FFXI ;|

i am getting raped in PVP

im 28 assassin. problem with meelee characters is not only do you need to get in close, but if ppl are higher level than you, you’re not going to get any hits in, and since the assassin relies on combos, well fuck i can’t even start my chains. its over before it begins.

looks like sorcs and priests are teh best

yesterday we tried to 4v3 these dudes but they had a healer. we got owned as a result.

gotta keep grinding

Pasting a couple of emails I wrote to friends about Aion pvp

A few more pvp incidents over the weekend:

I spent a couple of hours dueling people. Dueling is a lot of fun, and
you don’t lose buffs or anything for losing a duel, so I often see
duels in the main entrance to the Eylos fortress in the abyss.

Clerics are really strong in 1v1 duels. At level 27, I beat
33 spiritmaster
30 spiritmaster
33 gladiator
32 ranger
31 assassin
32 sorcerer
33 templar

I lost to 35 sorceror, 31 spiritmaster, and 33 spiritmaster (the
latter I rematched and won 2 times in a row, then 1 till time ran out)

Fighter (temp/glad) classes were straightforward to beat. They simply
have no answers to constant heals
Scout classes was a matter of suriving the initial burst DPS, then
same as Fighter classes
Sorcerers was heal heal heal, dont even try to cast anything
offensive. Trying to cast an offensive spells meant that my health
went down too fast. Heal until you see them give up on burst dps, and
only then go for offense.
Spiritmaster was the most long term fight. My strategy was to ignore
the pet completely. I lost the first match bad since I just got
feared/stunned repeated. Next matched I tried using flight. This made
a big difference since I was flying when I got feared/stunned, the pet
couldn’t hit me, which meant I wasn’t taking much damage. I would
insta heal between fears/stuns, and cast an offensive spell as soon as
I could. I ended up winning a long war of attrition, since eventually
the SM just ran OOM.

So in duels at least, clerics seem very strong. Their heals are so
mana efficient that mana classes will run oom trying to match them HP
for HP.

Then last night, I had some fun times in the abyss. I found a spot
where there’s a guard tower, and many easy lvl 30 mobs to kill. Great
xp and loot. Also quite near an Asmo controlled fortress, so there’s a
decent amount of pkers that come by to try to gank soloers.

The first gank attempt was 45 mins into soloing. A level 38 assassin
uncloaks right as I’ve used my insta heal vs a mob, and starts
attacking. Uh oh! I run back to guard towers, and fortunately 2 other
elyos PCS see me, one of them heals me and the other flies to engage
assassin. The assassin runs like hell, never see him again.

Next gank attempt was 2 hours in. A 38 cleric tries to attack me as
I’m engaged in a mob. I run back to the tower, and the cleric follows.
Tower kills him.
HIs corpse is still there after a minute, which means he wants to rez.
I stay nearby to kill him in case he does. Sure enough, a 33 gladiator
comes to rez the cleric. I start attacking the cleric immediately, who
gets pretty low on life from my attacks. The cleric can’t survive if I
don’t stop casting, so the gladiator engages me. I retreat to tower,
the glad follows. Bam, the gladiator gets killed.
So now I know the cleric is going to try to rez the gladator. I stay
by the gladiator corpse, and sure enough in 2 minutes the cleric and a
new enemy sorcerer are attacking me, chasing me away. I retreat from
the assault, and the cleric rezzes the gladiator. I start pounding
away at the cleric, who attacks me back. I retreat back to tower, he
follows. Cleric gets insta fragged again

The situation was so comical at this point that I was laughing out
loud. A team of two gankers tries to kill a soloing cleric, and
instead ends up with 3 consecutive deaths (I think they lose xp on
those deaths since they died to NPCs, although a coworker of mine said
that you don’t lose xp when you die to guards). After their third rez
they all fly away, and it was time for bed anyways for me.

So in summary, I was able to get great xp in a pvp zone. I had to stay
on my toes and be alert to watch out for gank squads, but the towers
afford a lot of protection to soloers, and lead to an interesting cat
and mouse game – how far from the tower is the soloer willing to
venture out? From the ganker’s perspective, how near a tower is he
willing to pursue an “almost dead” target.
It was a lot more fun than solo grinding in a pve zone. I liked the
fact that I had to make decisions like “should I solo and ALWAYS keep
my emergency insta heal in reserve, or should I use my insta heal
while soloing to get a faster kill rate, but leave myself more exposed
to ganks?”.

Fun decision making and fun outcomes. Maybe clerics are just
overpowered in pvp, and I’d be singing a different tune if I were a
different class, but this has been fun and meaningful pvp so far.

what level are you now? i just started a real job again, so ive been slowing down, am at 36.

and yes, clerics are impossible to kill. they are top tier pre end game. although from what i hear, later on, your heals and defense will not scale well, because the endgame attacks will do thousands of damage on crit. so they are not top tier in end game pvp supposedly. for now if i want to kill a cleric i have to time my stuns perfectly, but since i dont have any +attack speed gear i can’t quite pull it off.

i have shitty gear and assassins are very gear dependent, so i just avoid the abyss in general. ill come back once im 50. it doesnt help that the hit detection in aion is complete shit. literally theres times ill be standing right next to a dude and it’ll say i’m too far away to use that skill WTF. browsing the forums it seems im not alone.

but im stubborn and will finish what i started.

I hear you’re a great driver.

Somebody buy my collector’s account, 22 Templar on Ariel.

I just want my investment back, not trying to make money off it.

I quit, my brother still plays, 50 assassin.

I hate to quote Serennia but I’m glad I quit when I did. (20 templar, 20 cleric) If the game’s real grind starts at 50, when my brother had already spent 22 hours grinding to get from 49 to 50 alone. He’s working on expert weaponsmithing, in which you have to get a “double crit” in order to advance. No buying kinah, he has spent 160 million in 33 attempts to get Expert so far.

High level dungeons - timed attempts, if you don’t beat the boss you’re forced out? If you have skills and the tank/cleric are lamers, if they send in the “b” team its not looking good for you. There’s even the chance that the boss will drop 0 loot and you come away with nothing. HEY SIGN ME UP FOR THAT.

Playing WoW again, started a mage from scratch now level 77.

Happy grinding =p

i wanted to hit a like button hahaah

dustin, you gonna try out ffxiv?

yep I try out most of the new games, will definitely be playing 14.

Had a tarutaru warrior but I went back to EQ 1 - 50 war, 37 nin, 37 sam, 37 thf, 37 mnk, was tired of getting one shot by pugils while tanking.

tight. you were ready for everything as a DD war ;p
war tanks died out until they put in retaliation as a job ability in conjunction with the sam buff.

75DRK/MNK/PLD/everything 37
mnk/pld was RAW back in the old king ranperres tomb mnk burn against bones.

i heard u were a mithra.

Lol that didn’t last long. WOW>everything else.

Still playing Aion. 32 cleric now. I’m taking it pretty slow, not trying to grid it out, just doing pvp and quests. I think if I try to grid to 50 I’ll just end up hating the game.

hahahahaha you heard wrong sir! i was a galka.

grinding is not bad at all.

i usu read a book while playing aion. or have a laptop next to me where i can watch hulu or do some studying. makes the grind fun/productive.

i’m taking it “slow” too. one level a week, and pretty soon it will be two weeks.

yeah pablo and my name is paulee are still alive thx to me.
