I play ST but it gets boring when you’re used to a game that’s more balanced.

To each his own. Seriously. All the games mentioned 'ave poor balance on a tournament level (Generally, I wouldn’t say such a thing about GGXX but I’ve reservations about Accent Core). We all know this.
I can’t say NOTHIN that no one doesn’t already know. Jus’ come out and play more. Hell, MvC depresses me but I’m still playing in hopes of killing one of our NW player’s characters.
You guys are gonna make me start playing more Smash Bros/Soul Calibur III/ Dead Or Alive JUST so I can 'ave some competition.

I just think ST is too match-up based. 
I think Guilty Gear and 3s are both more balanced. Sure there’s a top 3 in 3s that is overplayed (though not so much here), but even just having parrying and throws being a button command adds a level of balance that I like. I hate how hit/blockstun works in SF2. Like getting hit by an air hurricane kick and being stuck in block stun for 4 seconds straight while Ken waltz’ over and throws your ass. Shit like that, I just can’t stand it. I really wish I did like the ST system since everyone’s such a fan, but it doesn’t really matter because I can’t make it to any get togethers anymore.
lol you prolly never played in high lvl play i guess every game is balanced when ur scrubbing it but what madel is trying to say is that high lvl play is when yun chun or ken is a turtling whore no matter how good top tier always previels mwahahaha

a turtle-y yun is a dead yun and generally if you’re facing a yun that turtles alot LET them genei jin they proly don’t know there combo’s and just super them back as soon as a window opens, turltle-y chun’s are beasty though =(
It’s funny when I see people whine about balance. I don’t mean to shit on you guys up there, but with a few exceptions, you guys aren’t even at a level where matchups matter that much. Sure, someone might dominate with Yun or Chun if they learn the basic strategies, but I could teach you guys some basic shit with any of the other characters that would even things out.
To give up on a game because of balance before you even get to the level of skill where it matters seems kind of stupid to me. Perhaps you think you’re doing yourself a favor by not wasting time with a game because you think you’ll like it even less later on, but you’re not giving the positive qualities of the games a chance to come out.
Anyway, I hope y’all give 3rd Strike a chance because you guys have a big enough scene to support the game and you are ~3 hours from 3 good 3rd strike scenes.

I’m not gonna get all in depth and whatnot because I realize this is a 3S thread and I’m not trying to derail it. A couple of things to note on though…
-A game being too matchup based doesn’t really make sense. All games are matchup based really, that’s why counters/counter characters exist. I used to think the same exact thing about grabs in ST, but it’s recognizing the situation for what it is, and applying the proper reversal. If you’re DICTATOR, just accept the fact that you’re fucked and keep it moving lol.
-I can’t really see how anyone can defend high level 3S. Runaway Yuns are buff, let’s not get it twisted.

Man, 3s used to be my MAIN GAME. Then I picked up marvel, and I just didn’t find 3s nearly as fun anymore. Know what I mean? 3s is a game for the thinkers of the fighting genre. It’s more strategy and intimidation than execution. Marvel is for the ones getting a rush from fast, hectic gameplay. It’s like the difference between a Halo player and an Unreal player.

Don’t see why. CS can be quite frantic, which defeats the point of having unreal as the fast, reactionary alternative.
Edit: I suppose 3s gets that way, as well. Relatively fast, yet tactically oriented. Good call.

Yes. I think it has the most to do with your movements and how carefully you have to plan them. A good portion of 3S is all about maneuvering your character to gain an advantage. Careful maneuvering is overall more important in a game like CS as compared to Halo, what with footsteps and the (more) realistic physics and all.
But Unreal and Marvel, LOL yeah, those games were seperated at birth.
Well, you can’t say Halo doesn’t have a lot of positioning elements involved (ever watch MLG play?), but seriously… 
I love how Unreal and Marvel play. Sometimes you don’t even think, the adrenaline just pumps and you act or lose.
