alright. you have convinced me. I guess I just saw other characters as easier versions of him, but I want to put in that work. I just have trouble with plink dashing. What is a good way to practice with that? And grav loops are hard for me as well… I also wanted to know if acid rain hard tag into FoF loops were even viable? Because then with Jam session and bolts, I would put Magneto on point.

in the order you asked them:

1-) A good way is to map a button with a two-button dash and plink the other one (like M+H~L, or L+M~H); I’m not home right now, but you can look the tutorial FChamp made alongside Chris Schmidt about plink dashing. I had to change my whole button layout just to play Magneto to the fullest, but it is still worth it.

2-) If they are hard, I’d say try the jump into ADF j.M j.H version first. You can look at my channel - it’s youtube.com/tortonon - for that. I started with those (the first two DocNeto videos use that) since they are way easier to do. The two things that ‘flipped the switch’ for me were to understand that you need to input the super-jump before the hyper-grav comes out, and that you need to cancel the airdash into the near the ground j.H. If you use the L+M dash, you can do the j.H no problem, especially with the button-dash.

3-) Flame-loops out of acid rain exist, they are possible, and someone people have posted them… Mazio and Gefen IIRC, I might be forgetting people too. Just look out for them. There is - unfortunately - no way to hard-tag loop from Magneto to Strange (that and side-switching after the loop to DHC from vishanti to shockwave are the only two things I can’t accomplish with my team, because they sadly don’t exist).

So, my new team, Deadpool/Taskmaster (vert arrows)/Strange is putting in some nice work, and I like that. I’m also really comfortable with anchor strange, that’s usually my position for him.

Works really nicely, but I want to make it cheaper and cheaper now that I won’t die instantly when only using a fragment of the team.

So, looking at trying out, for funzies, a Task/???/Strange team and a Deadpool/???/Strange team. Who works amazingly with bolts that you’d recommend? Aside from Dorm, who I love with bolts, and am considering despite the assist not picking up off Task throws and not doing tooo much for Deadpool.

Hard tag from Dante to FoF is much easier if you are willing to spend one bar (Acid rain > DT > hardtag > IP)

Quick Question. What is everyone’s thoughts on Dorm Strange? Maybe adding Doom? I am having trouble picking up Magneto for the Docneto team, and wanted to know if I could practically try Filipino Champs team but instead of Magneto, Strange would be there. Still not totally giving up on Magneto, just want someone who doesn’t have as difficult execution. Also, what assists would work with them? Plasma Beam, or missiles. Who should be on point? Secondary and Anchor?

I’ve played Point/Dorm/Strange forever, and I can tell you there that Nemesis, Super-Skrull, Nova, Wesker, and Haggar work really well, and, though I don’t play them, I bet morrigan and trish would work point as well. Gonna try out Deadpool/Dorm/Strange in a week once I get back to my PS3.

Also, never tried it out, but I have played Dorm point with Lariat before on another team…I’m thinking Dormammu/Haggar/Strange would be awesome. Damaging DHC, big combos from Dorm, and no real good snapback options.

But, the order can just as easily point Strange point and do well too. With Dark Hole he can get monstrous advantages when ending strings in that and maybe a mystic sword to push them into it. And the DHC synergy is pretty fly.

And Taskmaster, Strange, and Dormammu are a pretty good team in almost any conceivable order.

Finally got to test my Doom Strange Ammy idea against strong opposition last night and did WAYYYY better than I expected to, both with the Bolts-Doom point and the Plasma/Cold Star Strange! In fact I decided the one shaky factor of the team, the Doom point (which had a purpose to begin with), ended up even better than I thought because rather than playing him to his death, I started to find ways to swap in Strange and give him Plasma Beam. And man that was just too fun. I was completely locking out opponents who traditionally don’t allow themselves to be consistently locked out. And it was a fucking blast.

Jam Session instead of Cold Star is likely equally effective or more, but both are just sick.

Much thanks to those that offered up some good Strange sequences via PM. If anyone else wants to share some sweet zoning patterns that allow for Eyes flowing into Eyes flowing into Eyes, essentially getting as close to an infinite lockdown as the game allows, I EAT THAT SHIT UP. (and I’m happy to post my own such sequences, I just assume other peoples’ are better lol)

Any tricks for Strange/Akuma? I know Strange gets rushed down pretty hard, so maybe Akuma would help a little bit. I already play Task/X/Akuma and can abuse the tatsu assist with Task to great effect, and I’m always looking for a good second DHC that can help kill, especially on happy birthdays. I can extend combos with Bolts I assume, though the Eye assist might be good too to keep people locked down. So yeah, anybody familiar on how a Task/Strange/Akuma team could work? Unfortunately the DHC between Strange to Akuma seems pretty shitty, but if Strange has any tricks with tatsu assist (especially any buttons + tatsu that is safe and leads to a confirm, like shield skills works), I’d be interested in trying him out.

Seems like it should work, and probably offer jump loops on a comfirm if near a corner. While it no doubt has defensive properties, here’s basically how I use my team (Doom Strange Ammy) but with your characters ported in (and slight modifications for Tatsu rather than Cold Star). If you like it, go for it! If you hate it, disregard it:

-Play Task w/ Bolts and Tatsu (DukeofFortuneMan plays a shit ton of Bolts Task so he can explain all that, plus extensions etc).
-Find a way to get Strange in so he has 2 assists.
-Zone with Strange backed by Task arrows
-Once in a while, when you have assist ready and your own projectiles out, teleport in, something like cM+Tatsu sH/Palm xx M Teleport. Might want the Tatsu call with the H/Palm since Tatsu comes out faster, but the idea is to teleport and be behind them at point blanks as Tatsu connects. On hit… ta da! On block, cH Palm xx L Mystic for low, and for high I’m not sure yet what I prefer, but something like Fly jS or Fly, move df a lil, jMHS.

And then of course Tatsu for defense as needed. If Strange dies you’re left with Tatsu-Task which, as you know, is great and has better DHCs as well.

OfTheEarth no, just like this. Notice that the combo isnt even optimal or anything in terms of extensions and flames used, but anyways, I did it to win a combo-challenge here in the brazilian scene a while back

I recall seeing somewhere in the Strange forum someone posted a sweet incoming mixup of some sort, but I can’t seem to find it now. I think it was phrased something like, “you guys know you can something-something-something, right?”

Anyway, if not that, anyone have any good welcome setups w/ the good Doctor? Feel free to just use whatever assists your teams have, mine are Plasma, Jam Session-or-Cold Star, and am contemplating trying out some missiles too.

Wolverine won’t do anything for strange. That being said, Wolverine with bolts can combo off a b Slash hit, OTG off any throw, do fatal claw loops (double tornado before fatal claw for style!), gets a easy mode THC, can covert off happy bdays with bolts, close the distance obviously,and after a SOV B charge and Dive kick. It’s not terrible, grab in the middle of a bolt mash out throw and you have enough time to call enough assist to otg.

Dante is worth a look as mentioned and perhaps Akuma.
