lol holy crap I was playing this exact same team! Although recently I switched out plasma beam even though it is a godlike assist for hidden missles because of the ability to extend hulk’s combos into gamma crush anywhere on the screen! Leads to better positioning! Just don’t know how it’s going to affect me getting in with hulk but we’ll see cause generally plasma beam is better for getting in but eh I’m liking hulk’s gamma crush combos anywhere!

hey guys so what do you feel is the best assist for strange? eye, bolts, or daggers? I’ve been using eye but I’m thinking about switching to bolts. Right now I’m running strange(eye)/hulk(gamma aa)/doom(hidden missles) and although strange’s assist isn’t too important cause he’s on point there will still come situations where I will be able to save him and use his assist with hulk. Also, idk if it hurts my team too much to use hidden missles because I feel like they benefit combo potential but lack as much mixup potential as beam but correct me if I’m wrong. I just don’t know that I can switch back because I’m loving the fact that it gives Hulk sooooo much better combo potential midscreen where with hidden missles he can always go into gamma crush from a midscreen combo. I just feel this might take away from his rushdown a bit, along with strange’s?

Seems to depend on what function you need. IMO all 3 assists are good, none are great. Though I’ve been messing with Dante Strange Sent, trying to replicate my Dante - disruptah crossups from vanilla, and dare I say Bolts may be even better for this! First off, bolts are crouchable which is typically a weakness… but Dante’s teleport drops in overhead! Second, the bolts keep a grounded char grounded even on hit and you can go right into normal ground BNB unimpeded by the assist hitting, where as disruptah popped them up, altering the combo. Likewise on block you can do tricks with landing and going low. And then third, of course, with 2 beams, you can teleport twice for extra mixups. Dunno if this team will stand the test of time, but thus far am really enjoying this setup.

After seeing all 3 assists in action I feel bolts is clearly the best. Even though it doesn’t hit some crouching characters very well it still stops the crouch characters from moving and baically acts as a full screen sent drone assist with the gapped block string thing for mix ups. Really nice against people who are chicken blocking too often and if your character already has solid mix ups on their own you can set up really nasty stuff. The assist gives Vergil a lot of time to charge up his round trip special safely and get free left/rights on his own.

I like eye for my team. I run Taskmaster so whenever Strange is in the back I get unblockables/fuzzy guards forever :slight_smile:

I found that Doom’s missiles were interrupting my combos more than helping them, but I probably wasn’t using them right, lol. I recently switched out Doom for Taskmaster (Horizontal Arrows assist) and I am loving it. Also Hulk’s air throw into Strange’s EoA assist leads to a nice combo. You have to call the assist right when you jump up for the throw.

Yeah I love how the guide says that the bolts assist is “not recommended” just because it doesn’t hit crouching characters. The guide is great though; this is really the only thing that is flat-out wrong (besides their inexplicable insistence on referring to DHC’s as THC’s). Crouching means 2 things:
-You aren’t moving so I get to approach you for free;
-You aren’t blocking high so I get to open you up with overheads for free.

I love it with Zero so much, it’s very much like drones but reaches full-screen instantly which covers the main problem I had with drones (that Zero would always get in before the drones unless I gave the drones a head-start, which gave my opponent time to react).

Eye assist is great too if you already have the horizontal axis covered. The eye creates lockdown, pressure, mixups, and resets (I still want to go back and make a video showing my Iron Man resets with it even though I’m not running him on my main team now).

Of all his assists I think Daggers is the one I could see being “not recommended”. It’s ok at what it does but I think there are other much better assists that serve mostly the same purpose (Hidden Missiles).

Daggers are kinda useful for teleporting chars. Others not so much imo.

I use Eoa because it helps Magnus greatly, you get pushed/pulled into it, letting me open you up, and it works like old vanilla flame carpet.

Right now Im torn on which assist to use for Dormammu, Pillar or Hole?

Hole gives me sick combo enders with Magneto’s tempest, however pillar seems like it will give strange on much needed cover.

I love hitting people with a literal full screen BoB and running up to them with zero’s 2d platforming run animation and starting a combo before the 1st and 2nd hit

I’ve been running wesker (gun shot) hawkeye (greyhound) strange (eoa) It works out pretty well although strange on point with gunshot and greyhound sounds nice. I wonder if wesker, strange, hawkeye. Is a better team combination. Man I miss akumas old tatsu assist. Who is a good anchor with a beam assist? Iron man, doom maybe? I might start using BoB as an assist as much as you guys rave over. I have been using the eoa as a way to be unapproachable as hawkeye. Bolts probably wOnt help hawkeye much.

Holy crap my team sucks BUTT online. Funnily enough the character I have the least experience using (Strange) is the one I do best with because I don’t have tridash with him. Magneto and Doom feel like they’re in a pool of glue :frowning:

I think you just gotta make sure Strange is not anchor. Doom and Magneto are the best beam assists and they both make strong anchors.

I’d say Pillar is better since Eye of Agomatto functions similarly to Dark Hole with with Strange on point. Plus, Pillar as you said gives an escape route for your characters and provides a decent amount of blockstun to set up stuff with Strange.

I feel ya, that’s why I quit UMVC3 online. Strange needs tight timing, and the online lag/input lag hurts him too much to make him viable.

I’m have been using Magneto-Strange-Sent up until yesterday, and it was working well, just if my Magneto got bodied early i had to work super hard with Strange and I couldn’t do a lot of the setups I can do now with the order of Strange-Magneto-Sent. I said I put my team in this order, and people were complaining about my team saying that I should switch Strange and Magneto so Magneto can be a battery and build meters, but I feel like if Strange is used properly he is building decent meter while doing damage and not taking damage. I recall many times where tho I am doing damage with Strange building meter and I can do a SoV to Shockwave if I really wanted to bring Magneto in or an aerial exchange to keep building meter if needed. I’m also not just a SoV spammer so I actually do know how to use him and I think it’s doing okay for me

Strange/Magneto/Sent is definitely the way to go. Disruptor + teleport is just way to good, as long as you don’t make it predictable. It also helps his zoning tremendously. I don’t know why people think Strange is meter hungry, I guess having two amazing level 1 hypers you can use on reaction automatically makes a character a meter whore. As a matter of fact my solo Strange BnB builds over a meter and a half while my Magneto BnB builds just under that.

How do you guys feel about DS + Dogs cold star?

Well…if you’re going for cross-ups and safety for Strange, then the Cold Star’s range puts him too close to danger imo. If they are that close u might as well throw a sword. U’d get the same affect of the cold star via an EoA so kind of pointless to me

I’m running a team of Nemesis (launcher slam) , Iron Man (repulsar) and Strange (daggers) .

What strange assist do u guys think works best with this group.

I’ve like daggers so far becuz they work so well with nemesis , actually in the corner strange puts the daggers behind the opponent , setup some good wake mix ups in corner , and its nice addition with iron man box dashing

^the problem there is that ur relyign on Nemesis staying alive to me. Unless you have a godlike Iron Man, with Strange at anchor without assists all it takes is for them to corner you and it can be all over.

He’s not even a meter whore unless you throw out SoV all the time lol. Otherwise, they think he’s a meter whore and doesn’t build meter when he actually does well even if it’s through pretty good chip damage (which people ignore) from far ranged or close ranged. Also, I like having him first right now because it seems like he does well on point with Magnus and Sent backing him up against many match ups depending on he he has to zone or go in by assist cross-ups/mix-ups
