News: Ok, f*ck Storm. I’m done with her. Great movement and I love the character, but low health, low damage and low meter building makes me sad. And whirlwind is not that great too. Also SoV lifts the opponent too high for hail storm to hit sometimes. I give up on her hope that if Capcom updates this game they fix at least Storm’s damage.
So I’m into Vergil too now. Rapid slash creates more space then whiriwind. I’m using Strange/Vergil/Doom (sorry but I love using point Strange :D). DHC into spiral swords after SoV . A question: should I use missiles for combos or plasma beam for mixups?

Well, funny you mentioned Strange/Vergil/Doom man, since that’s my actual team. I uploaded the Magneto video. It starts with Dante, but switches to the Magneto stuff right in the middle of it. I’ll actually post here a bonus-round with your team, trying to convince you why you should ALWAYS use missiles.
I also love to run point-Strange, I’m probably one of the few around here that still do. Notice that even though I consider my execution good, I’m nowhere near let’s say, Mazio’s. I could never play Viper, unfortunately. Anyways, here it goes:

Good stuff, Tort. Mag/Strange has even more potential to be stupid because of that easy ass infinite. Magneto can get a throw at the start of the round, build one bar, then DHC into 7 Rings for an extended combo with assist or just TAC right back into Magneto.
I think Dante might be a better choice of anchor for Magneto/Strange over Doom, but that’s just me. I’ve been abusing Jam Session way too much these days, lol. It’s probably the best assist in the game. Oh, and it also might be worth it to come up with FoF extensions using Hyper Grav assist in order to guarantee a kill at the start of the round (Force Field OS throw with Jam Session-- no one is getting out of that), and just steamroll from there. But again, that’s all up to preference, and if you would like a more solid Strange neutral over guaranteed ToD combos. He still does quite well with just Jam Session assist, though. I need to hit the lab to work on some blockstrings I’ve got going in my head.
I need to learn an anchor Dante, at least a pocket one, at some point. I wanted to know the xf3 only combos that he’s got. You got some?
And yeah, Magneto/Strange is retarded both ways. I wanted to try it out for the disruptor assist, but I know tha this team is way better with point-Magnus. There is a way to DHC into flame-loops from him? Videos? Please, enlighten me my old and dear friend

I never really bothered learning them (have a lot more in my learning queue) but check Dante’s forum, someone just posted not long ago quite stable version for his xf lvl 3 combos

I’m going to use a pretty basic Strange/Doom/Hawkeye for now. I know that Strange/Hawkeye/Doom sounds better because of arrows + missiles, but arrows do a lot for Doom too (he can approach and start something), plus Sphere Flame DHC after a big combo with Strange should kill most of the cast. And we all know: missiles control air space and extend combos and arrows controls ground and mixups well. Also XF3 Hawkeye is much more scarier than XF3 Doom.
Also I’m cooking Magneto in the lab. He is a really difficult character to master, so it will take me some time. But I think it will pay off. I will play a Strange/Magneto/Doom team later, I have some videos I found on niconico (that japanese video website) with an anonymous player that plays this team. I will upload these matches on Youtube later (don’t know if its copyright infringement though; what do you guys think?).
EDIT: There is also a guy named “Dr Snake Tits” (believe me) who plays Magneto/Strange/Doom. Sweet!
People upload videos from Niconico on Youtube all the time. And Dr. Snake Tits is from So cal and plays at TRB if I’m not mistaken.
So I’m a guy who likes having multiple teams but I need a good defense keep away-ish team and I’ve been thinking of running Dorm/Strange/Doom, its just a thought I haven’t hit the lab and trained this team yet I just know that I’ll be switching between missiles and plasma beam assists lol any advice or thoughts?
Pretty good team, even though I’m not too keen on point Dorm. Mr.Dr. plays this team I think.
And, I’m gonna have to go lab it up some more with Jill/Strange/Dante. If I can get Strange in to battery for me, this will let me build enough meter for Jill to use Mad Beast, potentially resulting in a walking TAC infinite off any touch… which would ideally build enough meter for me to go into Mad Beast again and get more infinites off. The fact that I can also use Jam Session for mixups while still retaining TAC state (lol seriously) will just make this too easy.
Might as well post this here in case anybody wants to try out Jill.

I just found a team that I really like to play and it WORKS. Magneto/Strange/Doom, Magneto and the doctors, cape men, Marvel badassery, whatever you want to call it.
Despite Magneto shines at point, this team can be played in any order. These three have great assists that helps each one of them, so Strange/Doom/Mag, Doom/Strange/Mag, Mag/Doom/Strange, all can work. I don’t like Mag on second though, because his DHC does little damage if you are in the corner. Also this team THC is very bad, doesn’t matter though, as they don’t need it. They can kill by simply DHCing all the way through if necessary, as meter gaining is not a problem. I’m learning Magneto and his loops for now.
Now I’m going to stick with these guys 4ever, no more changing. I promise

Just curious, which point chars do you think best abuse bolts assist? I fell in love with bolts Dante long ago and want to mess with it again, but I’m having trouble choosing a 3rd. Not for lack of options but so many! At the moment I’m thinking either nova dante strange or dante doom-b strange. Vergil is also sick with bolts but I always feel like playing the brothers is a bit tacky lol mag is one of my best but feel like his rushdown with bolts is a tad too vulnerable. The above 2 teams may just be sufficient but figured id see if I’m missing anyone with outright bff status. Super cheap oppressive ‘please just give me a moment to breathe’ status. I refuse to play spencer but most others are on the table. Just no mid/low tiers unless they can set up traps with bolts that border on broken. In otherwords, don’t suggest storm or ryu or iron fist or something unless bolts somehow magically turns them into the next morridoom. Lol

All the characters that can cross the screen really fast (Magneto, Spencer, Nova) and the teleporters (Dante, Vergil, Dormammu) benefits a lot from the bolts. If you want to use anchor Strange, I suggest as a second char Dormammu, he is very good at second. If you are using Strange as second, I suggest anchor Magneto or Vergil.
Surprisingly, Nemesis becomes a much better character when using bolts assist (he’s the original reason I picked up Strange, actually). However, unless you are devoted to him, it might not be the most productive move to start using Nemesis.
Dormammu/Bolts is unstoppable. I love the pair. Extra pillars, extra charges, better teleport mixups, converts a blocked flame carpet into prolonged pressure.
Another option, surprisingly, is Skrull. He gets excellent conversions off bolts, and uses it in neutral to set up really dirty command grab mixups.
I bet Storm in second with Strange anchor would work too, but I don’t know enough about Storm to verify this. Spencer is proven to work with bolts too.

Hmmm, I def didn’t think of dorm. Though I tend to think of missiles as a requirement to play dorm (stylistic thing, certainly not claiming missile-less dorm is bad. A mistake, maybe, but not bad). (Joke)
The main gameplan I run with dante and bolts is, if you can get bolts out safe, you can teleport in, land, then box jump crossup. I LOVE bolts dante. So many good thirds, ill really need to think on it. Front runners currently are, in no partic order, nova vergil doom, and now dorm. Wolvie could be good too, great even, if and ONLY IF bolts give him his old otg pickup off slide into fatal claw loops. Ill have to try it!
Teleport characters are godlike with bolts. Airdashers are also really good. But something that a lot of people underestimate is command-grabbing with bolts. It is too easy to grab people either ducking from the assist, or mid-beams during a chicken block.
My best pick with it would be Wesker, since he can teleport and go ham, while also having a great 1-frame grab. Also, Spencer, since he can go ‘party-time’ in the ground, anti-air, close in with bolts, not to say that Strange’s assist extend his up-grapples as well.
Ill never play spencer ever, but weskers actually a pretty solid idea, thanks!
