Watch Fchamp play with anchor Doom, he wreck teams with solo Doom all the time.

Yeah, yeah great. F.Champ makes it work, I keep hearing that same thing over and over again.

Doesn’t change the fact that Doom on anchor isn’t his ideal position, and is a pain to use in general due to his lacking solo capabilities.

Only reason to put him there is so that both of your characters can share his godlike assist.

Everyone knows it, and a lot of people do it.

I personally hate Doom on anchor, so I could never do it.

Yeah dude, Doom is a team wrecker…with XF3 and a life lead. Footdives all day. His corner stuff is still mean. Good luck pinning Morrigan in a corner. Or any other flight or teleport character. I pull out a lot of wins with Doom on anchor…because people play wrecklessly against him. That won’t last the entire lifespan of Ultimate.

bolts/eye, dark hole, missiles

strange point works well with dark hole because he can convert l.mystic sword to 1,000,000 dmg with it (starting with 0 bar). it’s also enough lockdown to set up a free EoE+IP and teleport if they block the sword.

after you kill point, you have good meter and a good assist to do mixup/kill with dormammu in the corner. bolts and eye work well for incoming.

with strange point, you have to be liberal with SoV + XF if you play against problem characters like wolverine or vergil. just kill them, build back the meter with loops and have dormammu in for the incoming mixup which is almost impossible to block.

though i believe any character without a teleport is free to darkhole + l.sword

Doom anchor turns the game into DIVEKICK! and that is always a good thing when you have no hope left.

Strange x Dorm doesnt work well in the same team, unless you like getting wrecked by wolverine + beam/tatsu or haggar + beam, or zero + jam session. You need a strong point with high mobility or mixups + a good anchor assist character, then DHC Strange or Dorm with momentum and start the ABSOLUTE zoning ownage.

thanks for the replies, I love point dormammu and I see how the bolts will serve him well with missles. when you guys talk about that free kill off of a dark hole and l swords, you mean any time you get a dark hole to connect while strange is out, you use mystic swords and faltine loop?

I wouldnt recommend doing mystic swords after the dark hole, but you can go j.MMHPalm (x3) into fof-extension…

Mystic Sword L scales everything to shit, I only recommend using it in during blockstrings.

Now moving away from Dorm anchor with Doom anchor (Dante/Strange/Doom). I feel so disgusted with myself. [/hiddenmissiles]

Great team. Used it for a while and though I was able to do some really cool stuff with it, Dante is just not for me.

Ive been wanting to try a Dr.Strange team but I dont know who to use. I liked that Strange/Dorm/doom combination, I was also thiking vergil since his assists pushes the opp away giving strange more space. That’s the other thing, I dont know what assists strange needs, any help will be apreciated :slight_smile:

Strange needs a GTFO assist and a neutral assist IMO. Combo extensions come third in importance to me in terms of assists. Yeah certain assists can help setup certain scenarios I.e. Flame combo but I wouldn’t be surprised if at the end of Ultimates life span, Strange will have ways to get into his most damaging setups from pretty much any touch and possibly any assist, barring a few exceptions of course.

I don’t think that Strange NEEDS a GTFO assist. It’s very useful though.

A neutral/beam assist is needed though.

Strange’s 3 best assists IMO:

-Hidden missiles
-Lariat
-Any horizontal beam/projectile assist

Notice, even I don’t have a gtfo me assist. But that’s because I didn’t build around Strange like he probably needs to he. I’m just saying, logically speaking, a character with Stranges abilities and more importantly, weaknesses, necessitate two inherently different assists. He has trouble getting people off him and he has trouble doing anything and not getting punished for it.

And I’m sure you know, but you listed a gtfo assist as Stranges 2nd best assist.

hmmm so what about Dante/Strange/Akuma? Akuma’s tatsu works as a gtfo and teleport mixup while Jam session is for neutral game.

A GTFO assist is only necessary if Strange is going to be out for extended periods (for instance, if you play him on point). If so, he should also be accompanied by a strong zoning assist like Drones or Hidden Missiles, which he can use in conjunction with a GTFO assist in case the opponent starts rushing down.

However, if you want to optimize Strange’s utility value in 2nd, consider running:

  1. Ammy (Cold Star)
  2. Doom (Hidden Missiles)
  3. Vergil (Rapid Slash)

As IMO they are the top 3 choices for anchors to accompany Strange in 2nd. Ammy is my favorite for her THC; clears up so much stuff on screen and lets Strange go for derpy teleport mixups. Doom helps with Strange’s zoning and extends his combos in the corner to ridiculous levels, and Vergil is… Vergil.

I honestly don’t think that’s a bad team at all. Dante and bolts would be fierce and Strange with Tatsu sounds monstrous.

But Mazio is right, if you’re running Strange second you want to make that anchor pick count because you won’t always have two assists to back him up.
