Well, Zero/Strange or Viper/Strange for starters. Wesker/Strange as well, of course. Choice of anchor is completely up in the air. Just pick a good one like Ammy or Doom and roll with it. Hell, even Akuma w/ Tatsu if that’s your thing.
I don’t like Strange/Vergil in any order though, so take that as you will. Vergil does nothing for Strange besides being a busted anchor and a derptastic point character.
Why not Dorm as your point? Teleport mixups with bolts, relaunches with Senpu-bu?
kinda half and half on which assist would be best choice for Strange and Hsien-ko.
I’ve been messing around with X23/Strange/Lei-Lei a bit and I’ve been having fun with that. Lei-Lei is a wierd character to get used to tho. Senpu-bu def. one of the best assists in the game tho.
I don’t think Skrull on point is a good idea. He uses too much meter for him to be viable, and like Strange, is probably better as an anchor or in the second position. IMO, pick a better point character who is less reliant on meter to do damage, like Wesker or Dante.
Skrull doesn’t really do much for Strange other than being a derptastic good anchor, but oh well. If that’s what suits you. You could just do Strange/Skrull/Ammy in that case so Ammy’s assist isn’t wasted on just Strange.
Dr Strange - Dormammu - Vergil is probably the most OP Strange team I’ve played.
It allows Dr Strange to let loose and just XF kill their 1st character, mix up the 2nd and already they are down atleast a character & a half. From there provided you have atleast 2 bars or more any DHC keeps your momentum. Stalker Flare all the way to spiral swords. its a team designed to keep safe & keep momentum to coast to victory. My Vergil is ass too but that team is just too strong
I already know Strange/Dormammu is a great shell. Been using it since day 1 but Strange/Vergil is also great cause it allows you to not hold back opening with Strange at the start & keep the flow of the match in yourfavor because of spiral swords.
I’ve destroyed so many derp anchors just by having so much meter I can hit or whiff with a Vishanti DHC to Stalker Flare then DHC to spiral swords,
Have them guess left right on the flare and swords & then put a crown on there head so its multiple left rights and if they made it past all that I can still blockstring + assist for another left right AND still left right with rapid slash LOL Now thats bullshit to the extreme
I dont like bolts that much though. I prefer the eye cause it fills multiple rolls… It works as lockdown, combo xtender, mixups, & a defensive tool.
Skrull/Strange is actually extremely good ff you use bolts.
You can run rolling hooks, command throws, & airdash up overheads for free with bolts.
Its extremely nasty. You honestly could reset them all day & not use a ton of meter.
As far as Karst, if you truly wanna test ya low tier theory, you should try running
Ryu - Hsien Ko - Dr Strange
Hadoken. Gold Armor, Bolts
I imagine jumping H then L tatsu plus bolts gets Ryu in for free and then with gold armor you can run cr. l’s and overhead set ups.
Also with Strange in there you could run naked flames, hadoken + teleport h or mystic sword M , hadoken, daggers M for fireball wars & mix ups
Ryu gets zoned out hard without the bolts, though. That’s why I use Spencer or Doom. Both are really good at getting in for free on their own. Senpu Bu has to be about maintaining pressure or getting people off of you.
What is the general consensus for Dormammu assist for Strange? I know Ryan Hunter does some clever things with Purification, but do those things out-weigh what Black Hole can do? What do you guys think?
While I’m at it, which Strange assist does Dormammu benefit from the most?
Also - can I use Taskmaster’s Aim Master L for the same purposes as a beam assist?
Dark Hole is better for Dr Strange
Its better for blockstrings, pressure, firefights & mix ups overall
Despite what Ryan does with Purification its very situational & far less practical.
Eye of Agamotto is better for Dormammu
Free hand charges anyone? Its a better longer lasting flame carpet. It relieves pressure off Dorm, extends his corner combos, can lockdown in blockstrings for cross up J.H & S. or lows. Can create incoming unblockables with it.
Its too many positives with it over Bolts of Balthaak
Yeah if you’re not running Bolts with Strange for neutral (and that is my preferred neutral assist on my Strange teams) at least run another character with some sort of beam on anchor, like Magneto. Bolts is better used with certain characters over the other, so just experiment.
its great Dedemaru. It is really low so it can hit Ammy/Joe/Zero. Only problem is that it is slower than the majority of the others.
Strange/Dorm is hella good. Flame-looping out of a THC is so bossy.
But as though as Vergil goes for the fantastic and derpy anchor, I think this team needs the tatsu.
Tatsu has the invincibility to allow Strange to EoA freely without being popped into a happy-birthday. It allows obviously teleport mixups quite easily, while still protecting both Dorm and Strange for zoning purposes. It has a great DHC and still fits for a great anchor.
I’m actually between those two atm. Strange/Dorm/Akuma or Strange/Dorm/Vergil. I love Vergil as a character since DMC3, but I gotta say it gets way easier with Akuma and the tatsu assist. This might be the only case where not having Vergil on your team is better than having him.
about Tenbosu making Vergil work: he makes it work during his offense as a lockdown. Rapid slash cannot defend you if you need to get the offense going. It increases the power of your momentum, but cant shift it towards your team when you dont have things going your way.
Spell Of Vishanti doesn’t seem like a very good hyper to DHC from. Is there a point in the hyper that I can cancel so the opponent will fall all the way down? On my main team, I use Nova/Frank/Haggar - With Nova, if I cancel Super Nova early, it will cause a hard knockdown, leading to levels with Frank. Can I do that with Spell of Vishanti? I’m having trouble DHCing from Strange into Dormammu.
