Just use Stalking Flare and DHC into it late. It’s one of the few hypers that pops the opponent way up so you can get all 3 dark spell charges.
I’m really having a hard time finding a team for Strange. I just wanna thank you guys for your patience and help figuring this out for me. Right now I’m running Strange (EoA)/Sentinel (Drones)/Akuma (Tatsu). I don’t really know what team order will benefit me the most, but I know I want Strange on point with the benefit of both assists. What do you guys think?
I feel like if you lose Strange with that team, the much is pretty much over for you, and it doesn’t look like such a strong setup to justify that… (unless you are more gdlk with Sentinal then I assume :P)
Is Firebrand/Strange/Ammy viable? I’m guessing Firebrand has EOA into hard tag unblockables with this team, and Bolts is a wayyy better assist than Dark Hole. And i’m guessing Strange might as well have some nasty TOD hard tag combo after of a clean Bon Voyage.
The Drones + strange is a very nice combo, more people should use it. Strange can teleport right off the blocked first Drone and cause hit, and it is literally unseeable. It is so unseeable you don’t even have to mixup a front teleport because the hit is instantaneous. He can call drones and immediately use bolts from full screen (which takes a very long time to end) and by then, the drones will already be next to him(kind of like Condor’s Charging star w/ unibeam), still spacing dependent I believe. With the amount of blockstun/distance the drones takes on the screen, strange can start putting EoA, yellow graces, M Daggers, whatever. Strange-Skrull-Sent (long distance command throw w/ bolts, SoV immediate DHC into skrull does crazy damage) Mag-Sent-Strange would complement very well.
I have a question for the Strange users out there. Which assist do you find it easier to hit confirm off of? I’m experimenting with Storm [whirlwind] Akuma [tatsu] Doctor Strange [Bolts/Eye]
I started out using the Eye but I kinda like how Storm can dash in and start a nice combo if the Bolts hit from mid to full screen. I haven’t found much of a use for Akuma and Bolts, however.
I’ve been scratching my head on a Mags/Doom team for a while now and just recently started considering Strange for the middle spot. I can see the synergy between Mags and Strange but I’m not so sure about Strange and Doom, or more spesifically Strange and Hidden Missiles. I’m under the impression that Strange has purely left/right mixups so Hidden Missiles doesn’t really help in that department. Is there other ways for Strange to abuse missiles?
I think he gets a TOD off of Missles. They both DHC into each other well. Missles lockdown helping Strange setup his Agamatto Lock. Missles helps Strange get Orbs to start Strange’s Neutral also. Although I don’t agree with Doom anchor, I think your team has ton of potential.
Does this mean that I can TOD from a random missile hit or that I can use missiles in a combo to make it a TOD? Also the way you capitalized Agamatto Lock leads me to believe it’s something spesific. If that’s the case, a quick summary would be highly appreciated.
Thanks for the quick answer!
Who would you guys say works better with Strange - Magneto or Doom? I’d most likely be using Electromagnetic Disruptor and Plasma Beam respectively.
With Missiles you can do a TOD combo using Missiles as a OTG Extender into a rep of FOF.
Agamatto Lock is how Strange setups his zoning using EoA, FoF lvl2/3, and Mystic Sword. Missiles helps Strange pull this off since it lockdowns. While it isn’t good as say Morrigan’s zoning yet, it provides a similar situation for those who can’t handle zoning (Hulk, Fist, etc).
Might change up Nova for Spencer on my Strange team.
I’m pretty sure that Strange can extend his FoF loop using Spencer’s armor piercer since it wallbounces, right?
Also, I’m pretty sure that Spencer can use Strange’s EoA for extended corner combos.
Anyone feeling this duo? I’m pretty sure that I saw it being discussed about before, thought I might give it a try.
Side note: Can Ammy’s cold star extend Strange’s combos?
i just started usin Magneto(disrupter)/Strange(Agamotto)/Doom(Missiles)…im really liking this team, just gotta work on my magneto a bit more
@Dreize yeah it can. After the reps of any normal aerial loop, on the last j.M j.M j.H j.Palm, call coldstar alongside that palm, go cr.H s.Palm as you land and you’ll be in an optimal height for FoF-Loop extension.
@Jufo @SoulReaperx18 -> Doom’s missiles are probably the best assist to extend Strange’s damage output, or at least to lead into his most damaging stuff. There are many ways, like these:

I’ve got new tech with this team by now, so I’m sticking with it. My char-crysis is over.
I’ve been playing with Strange/Doom/Strider right now. We all ready know about the double SoV off of Vajra. But if you get a raw Hard knockdown off of Vajra, its possible Strange can follow up with a yellow grace OTG into a combo. I may play this team for while I come up with some tech for my Viper team.
I’ve been trying to find a replacement for Sent Drones on my team (Trish/Nova/X). Both characters benefit from a good horizontal assist that covers a lot of ground and stays on the screen for a long time. In my search I came across the almighty doctor and his bolts assist. I’m wondering, as someone who really hasn’t touched strange - how do you feel with him in an anchor position. I’ve always found his movement so hard to get used to, is it mostly just teleporting? Also, with this team order, you can setup unblockables with Round Harvest and Strange’s cr.H (along with the Nova assist). Which means that he’d potentially also have Peakaboo and C. Rush backing him up. My question is, is anchor strange worth looking into?
@Nerub : I personally don’t mind anchor Doctor Strange at all, though assists do help fill his weaker points and make his mixups much stronger. He can be a bit gimmicky feeling as an anchor sometimes, but people do have to respect the potential blow ups he can do, so it doesn’t feel as bad as some make it sound. And he can set up teleport mixups by himself at least decently (though not great). I think he’s quite a capable anchor, but not an exceptional one. He can run into some really tough match ups as a solo character, but can sometimes create unwinnable situations for his opponents. I don’t think that makes a team inherently bad though; as long as the front end of your team can put in work, then your anchor only needs to do some light clean up most of the time; Sort of like Magneto/Storm/Sentinel - sure Sentinel isn’t great solo, but he makes the front end of the team really buff and people have to respect the XF3 damage he has. Some people disagree with anchor Doctor Strange and I can definitely understand; there are some situations where I feel like an XF3 comeback is a shot in the dark with Doctor Strange. All in all though I think it’s worth trying out at least. It’s definitely fun running a team like you described with Trish/Nova.
I play Trish[peekaboo] / Wesker / Doctor Strange[bolts]
This team is amazingly fun to play, though not much different than some of the other Trish/Wesker + X teams. The usual stuff: Trish round harvest -> hard tag to Doctor Strange -> Wesker assist + Doctor Strange unblockable -> free corner combo for tons of meter and easy touch of death kill. And then incoming mix ups with peekaboo. Bolts of Balthakk assist help Trish zone or keep rushdown pressure on, and help Wesker run rushdown/teleport/command grab mix ups. Sometimes I start Wesker if I feel like a match up might be bad for Trish. For Wesker - the team super is pretty decent damage-wise and has the side benefit of being self OTG because of Spell of Vishanti, although that isn’t terribly important. Peekaboo assist is just awesome for teleport characters I think, and this team has two of those. Wesker OTG assost isn’t really necessary, but always an added perk for combos. This team feels so damn cheap, I really have no idea why my friend still plays with me haha. It’s pretty solid, but damn it has a lot of bullshit. Doctor Doom and Magneto also work well with Trish+high/low assist I think.
Won a FT5 4-1 vs. a guy at my local scene who plays Zero. Magneto/Strange/Ammy SO GOOOOOOD. Most touches from Mags end up as DHCs into SoV XF combos or TACs that finish off at 1m for one bar, while having two left over all the time.
I just wanted to poke in here, and wanted to ask if there any synergy between Strange and Chun Li?
Like if you use LL assist do you think it would be a good strat to throw Disks and teleport behind them?
Or would Tenshoyaku assist work better in your opinion ?
LL assist is definitely the assist to use. Works as an extender and possibly lockdown in the corner.
