When another update drops, peeps are gonna ask for better anti airs, which may happen, and if it does something has to give, she is hard as is trying to get in on her with her zoning, and I cannot see them keeping the 1000 health and giving her better anti airs, in fact I think its the reason they gave her 1000 health in the first place, cause her anti airs are poor.

And again, I feel that a lot of character would kill to have her AA normals… You just have to learn the timing/spacing of all of them, there’s no one easy universal AA “button” but that’s not something that every character (or any, really) should have. Her DP is meh, but her other strengths make up for it. She would be broken if she had a true shoto’s shoryuken (there’s a reason none of them have rekkas or an engagement tool that jumps over fireballs and is safe on block). I don’t feel as if she needs any buffs except maybe a SLIGHT increase on walk speed…

Not every character should be strong in EVERY area. That’s sort of the point; each character has specific strengths and weaknesses that you need to learn to balance against the strengths and weaknesses of others.

Her anti air normals really ain’t that good, 2 to 3 active frames on her anti airs normals is not good, 4 active frames is considered ok but you still need timing and right spacing, its when it goes above that, is when it becomes very easy, also am not asking for her to be strong in all areas or for her DP to get buffed at all, she just needs one or two of her anti air normals to have one more active frame and she is good to go as well as other stuff. Id be fine if she had:

950 health
Far STHK 3 active frames
CRHP 4 active frames
Far STHP 11frames
Faster forward dash
CRMK 5 frames.

i just want full active frames on mk dp, make it like the ex dp but with 5 frames invincibility. that isn’t asking for much, just asking to make something from bad to normal.

I mean, she’s very solid, but her strong fireball game doesn’t change the fact that she has some holes in her gameplay.

Yeah, it kinda bugs me that someone that can be bullied so damn hard is top 5 in a lot of peoples eyes. I’d kill for some more active frames on her normals just so divekicks can piss off. Fixing mk dp sounds great to be honest.

Are you referring to Mike Ross? He’s just a sheep following the Jap players (he doesn’t even use Poison).

Did you see how Gootecks reacted when Mike told him that Poison is TOP 5 in their recent episode together? He just rolled his eyes and shook his head. Gootecks actually uses Poison and doesn’t agree with the idea that Poison is top 5/10.

That is pretty true, mainly because Gootecks is still learning her. He was on CaliPower’s Twitch stream playing Poison against Valle’s Hugo about a week ago, and yeah… he was struggling to find out what’s so good about her. But then again, he was playing the legendary Valle, so…

When I play her all I hear is “top 5”. It’s annoyed me to the point I’m trying to pick up cammy

It makes me want to bash my head into a window. Seriously she’s one of the only characters that you get punished for making the correct guess, plus she can get shut down so easily by over half the roster.

There are several top players who have named Poison as top 10, or even top 5.
I seriously don’t get it. There are just too many characters that Poison struggles against.

I doubt they even play Poison. I think that they’ve probably been on the wrong end of Poison’s corner pressure a few times and suddenly think she has no weak spot or something.

He just came out with a complete tier list and guess what…he thinks Ryu and Gen are the two worst characters in USF4. This is the same scumbag going around and listing Poison as top 5.

But you would have to have a little bit of patience and reason to understand my post, which I don’t think the people who blindly say top 5 have.

The people that think Poison is top 5 can’t be convinced she isn’t.
And they don’t even play the character. So it’s all just assumptions, which is just crazy.

I’ve read people say Poison is a counter-pick for Bison or is a Rose with more tools. Are you kidding me?

I’ve said before that (I think) the Japanese definitely know more about the character than we do, so we kind of have to hold that. It’s really a lot of work to translate what they’ve figured out but I think players who are obviously bandwagoning what the Japanese have said have absolutely no clue what they’re talking about.

It’ll take a while before we have poison players on the level of Japan. Like I see someone like Ricky who thinks poison is top 5 but she doesn’t even use LMT successfully to hop over dieminion’s sonic boom once. The level of play I’m seeing from players in the states is just not there. Even someone like Xian who has a good understanding of her set plays doesn’t have the spacing or the right fireballs to be able to win all of her matchups outside of ones he can use a LMT cross up setup to exploit his opponents limited understanding of the MU.

Even Air was having a hard time bringing out what makes the character so good even though he was the one at ground zero with all of these god like poisons he claims to have seen with massive win streaks in the arcades. So Reiketsu taught him a lot, he’s hiding tech, and I showed him the Japanese poison guide that I’ve been raving about so only time will tell.

ricky’s poison is bad, no disrespect, but i honestly don’t think he puts to much time into her either, just trying to force playing her because of his identity thing and poisons. I would like him to keep playing her and get her to the level of his rufus, but i don’t see him anywhere near that level at the moment. just bugs me when people see a top player pick a new character and hype him up even though they are bad with that character. Xian knows the set plays and zones pretty well, hits his combo’s etc. I hope he keeps at it with poison as he seems to have the most potential of what ive seen. Japanese poison play ive yet to find or see :frowning: i mean id love it if i could find it. But yea people talk out their asses alot about poison. She has the shortest throw range, yet ive heard people bitch about her throw range/damage. They talk about LMT being OP, but its a non invincibile 27 frame start up move!, if they realized they can step back/neutral jump and whiff punish it quite easily, or if its up close just stuff it with a non low normal, they wouldn’t scream broken.

its like, the people who talk shit and place her so high, are the ones that are getting beaten free because they don’t put the work in to learn the match up, and annoy poison players to reveal the tech they need to know to even out the MU.

like people assume her type of zoning is the same as sagats and guiles and goukens. When her style of zoning is completely different. Her fireballs do really well when she goes up against some one else with a fireball (barring 3 hit fireballs) because she can negate any fireball coming at her with her mp and hp fireball, while gaining meter in the fireball war faster. This usually leads to the opponent getting frusterated not being able to gain any advantage in the fireball exchanges, and tries to get in without the right patience, and gets anti aired or lands on a fireball, and then by that time, shes accumulated enough meter and life lead to decide to go in and try and finish you off, or lame out the rest of the round and save the meter for the next.

like i get happy to go up against a ryu, ken, dj, chun or guile, because i know right off the bat, i get the spacing i want, and can varry my fireballs to negate and build meter faster then my opponent, and have them come to me and jump at me eventually in a manner i can dictate to be ready to anti air.

like, poison has great recovery, and meter build on her fireballs, but slow start up, but the benefit of not having her fireballs go the full screen while being as slow as they are allow her to combat the slow start up with not having to wait long before putting out another. this helps greatly counter against other fireballers.

guile, sagat, the tradition zoners that everyone else brings up and blindly thinks poison is just like but better, all have really fast start up and great varied speeds while travelling the length of the screen.

guile and sagat have 10-12 frame start ups on their fireballs, while having really fast and really slow fireball speeds.
poison has 15-17-23-9 frame start up from lp-ex. people were saying she can walk behind her fireballs like chun or guile? lmao when did poison have a slow fireball that travels the length of the screen and a good walk speed to where she could do that? Do they know what they’re comparing? why do people talk while ignorant?

I’d love for those forum users to go try out Poison for a day. See how top tier she is then.

yea if you look, they had a field day because i was 1-2 frames off when showing them the gaps between her cancels, while i was off a couple frames, the actual principal of what i was saying, the substance, the actual thing that matters, doesn’t change at all. The nitpicking is what i find to be the funniest. “you were 1 frame off calculations, fucking retard!!!” “your writing large walls of text, it looks like dog shit” well im sorry I try to go into as much detail and explanation as possible for you to cover as much as i can in one post to save you and my self time from going back and forth, but i guess if you don’t have the patience to read all that it wouldn’t surprise me that you look at a 5 lines apparently nemo approved which put poison at the top and bust a nut about it.

Poison’s HK DP actually does have invincibility, sort of. it is 10 frames start up and has 11 frames of STRIKE invincibility. So as we know, you can still throw it on start up, and she can still be hit by projectiles on start up, but strikes she is invincible to from start up, up until the first 2 active frames, so thats not to bad. still slow but now i wonder what sort of applications we can find with this.
