Good heads up, I always forget how terrible Cody’s recovery is until I get punished for it. I wish the recover would just end with the animation, and there wasn’t just a second of him standing still where he is vulnerable.
Ninja please! I’m finding that Ibuki is raping me for free. It doesn’t seem to matter if they’re the run-away type or the vortex type. I just can’t seem to hang with anyone who’s decent with her. Any general tips on that match?
A good Ibuki is kryptonite to Cody. His defense is tough to keep the upperhand with, turtle her (Rocks go through kunai, but expect her to stop soon after and rush in), poke like a mofo, b. mp all day, watch out for random kazegiri’s, and don’t forget to anticipate the neck breaker if start walking backwards for too long.
Honestly, keep the hell away from that girl, and punish hard.

vs Guy: when he starts to pressure using his jump, d.mp elbow (…so much priority btw), use st.roundhouse. the damage, even on trade, will keep him outta the air. cr.mk will get you underneath him and on the other side. HK Ruffian beats a lot of his air shenanigans (quick reaction). any ruffian kick Guy blocks, he will punish you! hit comfirm is a must. bait out his EX tatsu type kick and punish. good Guy players generally use the lp shoulder which isn’t punishable at the right distance. crouch block most of his flip shenanigans… if you stand YOU WILL BE SCOOPED. Guys EX Flip grab thing is kinda free on wake up because there’s a frame or two where you have to stand up before you crouch…sucks lol. try not to get cornered… hope this works

i dont think he gets too mauled… he has to be played a certain way. he hits hard and he has great frame traps and counter combos. so far, a good blanka can prolly give him a run for his money… so can a pressure bison. cody isnt good in the corner; hes good when he has the opponent in the corner. i think he might be like abel - in the right hands he will dominate. the rufus match up doesnt look too good either, but he can fight. good pokes, hard hitting combos, and good AAs keep him alive. who needs plasma when you got gravel!

towards + MP, so a command punch but with enormous +hit/block stun allowing cody to spam it and mix up with it/bait/fish for counter hits.
yes i throw that at them on wake up then i follow with a grab or a cr.mp into CU.its pretty sexy lol
so i have trouble against zoning characters.
bad stone cant keep up with fireball characters.
i cant see any way of punishing a zoning guile. they sonic boom and they follow it at the perfect distance where i cant react to anything outside of the sonic boom without being punished.
m.bison too. cody has no wake up options or any way to get out of dictator’s frame traps as far as i know. i tried doing zonk to answer his lk. scissor kicks and i guess my reaction time is just too noobish or the scissor kick just beats zonk.

just played probably the bets guy on xbl mastered the bushin flip and the d mp elbow
back mp beats whatever he does in the air but bushin flip can get ya
back throw j hk/hp for a safe jump to bait out his ex tatsu
use c mk liberally…they will stuff guys slide shenanigans as well as escaping the bushin flips
use alot of frame traps vs guy and throw his ass get him scared to block and force him to use ex tatsu to escape, block accordingly and punish accordingly
id have to say this is a pretty even matchup, just remember to space out ur CU blockstrings because guy can block those a lil closer to him with either slide/ex hozanto
Vs. Vega I think U2 is very useful as well.
You can punish any blocked/focused Sky High Claw or Wall Dive with it and it will fully connect.
I really think this is one of codys easiest matchups. He has an anwser to everything blanka can do.

i think my biggest problem is zoners…and constanly getting thrown…which has always been a problem for me…i just started playing him tonight so i will hopfully get better…zonk punch is god in jump ins…
also mixup slide and rh.rk so the guy doesnt know when to hit punch after the b.flip.then after you train him to stay on the ground and stone his ass and bait b.flip.this match up is cake IMO
