Having seen Justin Wong’s RR vid the other day I would definitely say Storm. Storm and RR synergise pretty well from what I’ve seen.
So weird. I actually just started toying with Hulk(Gamma), RR(pendulum) and Doom(HMissles) just the other day.
I like to bulldog opponents into the corner with Hulk so using pendulum for knock back and wall bounce is awesome. Hulk can get some big combos off a wall bounce. Hidden missiles locks down opponents for more Hulk beat down and keeps people from getting in your face. If Hulk is dead Hidden Missiles lock down opponents to allow Raccoon to do some digging into incredible mix ups. And lets face it, Doom doesnt really need assists. FOOT DIVE, FOOT DIVE, FOOT DIVE!
Has anyone been messing with Trish and RR? I’ve been thinking of putting Trish on point because Trish combo + Round Harvest + RR Unblockable = TOD on many characters are you only need about a half a bar to start it. My friend thinks that self sufficient 2-meter TOD’s are important in this game, and I aggre with him. Trish and RR seem to be able to accomplish that on paper.
Unfortunately, Taskmaster doesn’t seem to play to my personal strengths, so I’m thinking about dropping him =( Thanks to everyone who helped with that recommendation though, hopefully others who can play Tasky made it work.
I can definitely see Trish and RR setting up unblockables nicely. As for a third…someone with a decent projectile assist to help RR in case Trish gets KOed perhaps. I’m not sure what kind of assists benefit Trish really though so I can’t figure out what assists would help both of them.
My anchor is Ammy and I don’t see myself changing that. She’s my best character by far and her Cold Star assist works well for RR.
I should start thinking of a RR assist to help Trish, though.
My friend uses Trish and often comments on how hard it can be to land her level 3 when he wants to so off the top of my head Pendulum wall bounce means combo extender and a big opening for level 3, Using it mainly in combos would make RR safe from a happy birthday too.
That sounds smart. For Ammy, I think Spitfire is a better assist, but when you think about it she’s my anchor so I don’t get to use assists with her very often anyway.
As for Trish, I was thinking of using Peekaboo or Hopscotch to try to help with people in the air over me. There’s a Magneto at the local fight night I visit that gives me a lot of trouble with that.
Sound logic but from what I’ve heard using peekaboo and hop-scotch can be a bit of a liability as they don’t tend to be as robust as RR’s traps when they come into contact with hit-boxes. A potential solution outside of Trish assist would be to drop one of your own traps and block his offense to force him to deal with the trap or Rocket Skates xx log trap perhaps.
Assuming all of Trish’s assists are excellent peekaboo and hop-scotch = defense whereas low voltage = offense.
I know cold star can be used similarily for teleport cross-up cover but not at full-screen that’s for sure.
I was considering runnning a team with Rocket Racoon (Log Trap); Frank West (Shopping Cart); Nemesis (Rocket Launcher Slam). Been playing around with RR (and I am terrible mind you) and I have found some good strings leading into mad hopper and grab bag setups (still need to test) allowing Frank to come in and get his pictures. Log Trap is not only a good anti air when RR is not on point, but it also helps to extend some of the combos by Frank and Nemesis. Its also good to DHC from Rock and Roll (I think this is possible) into Frank’s whiffed survival techniques for jump loops and picture follow ups. Frank can also DHC his survival techniques in Nemesis’s Bio Weapon Assault. DHC off Bio Weapon Assault into mad hopper to catch back (in the corner) and neutral air techs from the super is a nice way to go too. It leaves the opponent with only one option, allowing RR to follow up with air grabs, spitfire H twice or something like that.
Thoughts?
RR/frank works very well (level 5 setups and everything), however I’m not sure how useful Nemesis is to your team. Nemesis is a pretty poor anchor, really needing assists himself and x factor basically making him just overkill damage wise, he isn’t even that reliant on meter.
Also there’s the problem that RR is without an assist, shopping cart is great in that it can kind of fill the horizontal and lockdown roles, but you will struggle without something to control the sky with RR. Basically your team seems a little weak to jumps and super jumps, if the opponent has free control of the air your RR will not be able to setup grenade walls with j.S and you will probably need to burn a lot of meter on Mad Hopper or have really good spacing so as to not get locked down every time your opponent jumps at you.
So I haven’t been here for awhile lol I switched back to like a version of my Vanilla team and now I kinda want to play RR again. The problem is I have a team dilemma. So far I have RR (Log Trap) Chris (Gunfire) but I’m stuck on an anchor. I kinda want someone for anti-airs. So I was thinking either Doom Missiles or Hawkeye’s up arrows. Almost forgot about Dante’s Jam Session or Dorm’s pillar

Scatter shot is a pretty terrible assist, the area of effect is so specific it’s not really going to cut it as an AA of any kind IMO.
Missiles. Missiles all the way. Helps keep them on the ground and even helps set up mix ups.
Spidey/RR/Doom
Spidey- on point
RR- Pendulum for Spidey
Doom-Missiles for both, and great anchor
Hawkeye, Firebrand, Rocket Raccoon.
My very interesting team. RR’s claymore assist can set up some cool mix-up/combos/resets with Hawkeye.
Also, DHCing into Firebrands ‘speed boost super’, after RR’s ‘minigun super’ (DHC before last hit). SOME CRAZY STUFF.
Joe/RR/Arthur
Lately I’ve been going through the roster trying to find a fun anchor to go with Nova/Spencer. I’ve been running with Skrull, but all he brings to the team is a random XF3 character instead of actual team synergy, and he doesn’t have a “get in” assist which increases Nova/Spencer’s output by a lot (See Combofiend, Infrit, etc.). Sent is boring and Hawkeye just doesn’t seem to match my playstyle too much, so I’m looking for someone else…
I’ve been messing with RR on Anchor with Spitfire Twice in Training mode this past day or two (after seeing Kusoru something tells me I’m not the only one), and I like what I am seeing so far. Haven’t had a chance to mess with RR on point yet and honestly outside of his trials and basic bnbs still have no idea how to use him properly.
Log Trap is godlike obviously but both Nova and Spence kind of need wallbounce for bnbs so I don’t see it as useful in the long run. It seems from reading this thread though that a lot of people think RR is lackluster at anchor. I use Horizontal Grapple with Spencer and alternate between the forcefield and overhead rush with Nova.
So…viable or am I wasting my time? Would appreciate any synergy ideas/input/thoughts.
Kusoru has RR third so he can level up frank with VJoe I imagine. RR is a terrible anchor, absolutely terrible. Unless you are fighting phoenix.
Log Trap assist also isn’t godlike, you have to cover it well and you are still just hoping your opponent runs into it. It’s good, but it’s not a throw and forget assist.
Honestly I can only see RR working second on that team, he has nothing to help him in the neutral game so he’s only really going to come in on a DHC. I imagine Spencer probably gives RR some nice resets, but uh, RR almost NEEDS neutral assists to function in most matchups.
No one here has fully tested RR anchor to my knowledge. Only person I’ve seen do it that was American was Keits. I’ve been in spots where I had RR in 3rd slot cause of team orders and such and I will says this now…it’s not easy. You have to patient as hell and bide you time. Also RR on x-factor is crack. Added note there is video of Kusoru with RR anchor making ridiculous comebacks against near full health teams. Thing is it’s VERY situational and VERY tricky. So only do it if you feel as though you can. Otherwise RR is good in the 2nd slot or 1st depending on your team. But no one hasn’t fully explored anchor RR.
i saw Kusoru also plays RR on point. i forget with which characters, sorry.
I think Morrigan, Doom, RR maybe good too. lol i think Chris G should play this team.
