I’m actually using Firebrand now that you mention it lol I actually have some DHC’s that work with it. The DHC from Brand to Raccoon isn’t that bad if timed right and Raccoon has a few options for Firebrand DHC’s although they kind of cost meter more so 3 at the most.
I admit, I’m having issues putting this char in a team that fully maximises his potential combo-wise and cover-wise.
I was thinking of using RR/Sent/Dante(for Jam Session) or replace Dante with a good projectile assist. But then I got greedy and was looking to maximise RR’s midscreen damage. So far, I’ve had the most success with wallbounce assists as far as combo extenders go. So it was going to be RR/Jill or Spencer/Sent. But IMO, RR needs a good projectile assist and Sent needs something to back him up since I don’t like him assistless in 3rd. Maybe a good AA too. Strider?
EDIT: I wonder how Repulsor Blast would help RR. Only one way to find out.
This is just me but whenever I combo in the air with RR I use Air L Air L Air M then Air S. Whenever I’m midscreen I use Air L Air L Air M then another Air M Air S. This pushes them just enough midscreen so that Bear Trap Connects into Log Trap. However, that’s just how I personally use him.
I just use HS, more damage and way, way easier. Less meter though I assume.
On Firebrand, it’s not so much the DHCs I’m worried about (Rock n Roll > Luminous Body is pretty dirty by the way). There is some synergy, but both RR and Firebrand will depend on each other and can both be killed in one touch too easily. RR can help Firebrand to set up some unblockables off of pressure and Firebrand can help keep RR safe if you don’t want a projectile assist, though I find Firebrand’s assists pretty underwhelming. I just like both of them on point more, so I have teams that maximize their strengths far better.
RR could probably use Vajra pretty well, seeing as he can easily combo OTG, not sure if that combo would do a whole lot of damage though.
I never thought of Air HS I’ll try that. I wanted to use Raccoon with Strider but the health was my main issue. Thing is I work with low health characters like all the time but I’ll try to make Firebrand and Raccoon work. I’m just stubborn like that. Wanted to put them on the same for awhile to see how it works. Oh yeah Rock and Roll to Luminous Body = Very Dirty lol still trying to see what you can do with that. Seems like they fall out everytime.
So after actually sitting down I’m going to change my team. Firebrand and Raccoon is good but they need a good assist like stated before. The only character I seemed to find fitting for that role is Doom as missiles or beam would help both characters. So I actually switched it back to my default of Frank Rocket Raccoon and Hawkeye. Team has a lot of synergy and Frank surprisingly builds meter pretty fast when he does his BnB’s
I’ve been running Rocket on point and Ammy as anchor, and they have a lot of synergy together. I’ve been using Nemesis in my second slot to make up for my team’s lack of health, but I’m not doing well with him and he doesn’t have much synergy with the critters outside of OTG team super and being a meat shield.
I don’t think I want to use Nemesis anymore, but I still want to use a character with a lot of health. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Taskmaster maybe? Decent projectile assist, 1.1mil health.
I agree with this. Taskmaster has the tools and health.
And cover for teleports/rocket skates Rocket/Task/Ammy actually sounds like a great team, just a different version of Rocket/Hawkeye/Doom in essence (Rocket/horizontal assist/lockdown assist).
If you are using Frank heres a way to level him up to at least 4 ( 5 if you have a multi hitting assist ala Skrull/ Strange) Also whats the deal with the super slow dhc glitch spin out… I know normally it spins out like that but that seems uber slow Im sure you could throw some other shennagians using it. I know I am. Perhaps the most interesting thing you could do is DHC in with something that doesn’t hit and continue the combo but RNR hits so much I imagine there isn’t that much that would work due to hitstun scaling. The important thing to note is that it’s only the last bullet of the chaingun that causes the reeling knock-down so being able to DHC in and retain the reeling stun is as far as I know limited to hawkeye.
RNR DHC into gimlet at the right time makes gimlet hit before the last bullet so you get the DHC and the reeling spin, although since they are usually at full-screen after RNR I am not sure if there is much you can do after that besides another super. In the corner maybe a reset or level 3 or something, but most likely not a full combo.
I know, it is probably one of the best for combo continuations using things like Zero’s Sougenmu and Firebrand’s Luminous Body. That spin is crazy. Only problem is that Rocket combos take so long, the hitstun scaling will be pretty high, so if you want a long combo post DHC you should make Rocket’s section short.
Duffath, why don’t you use Hawk’s arrows assist and Doom’s missiles assist instead? The arrows help teleport crossup combos a ton. Less hits so more damage and leaves them on the ground which prevents HSD from ramping up as quickly.
Thanks guys, I hadn’t thought of that. I was thinking maybe Hawkeye, but Task sounds like he fits into my team better.
Hawkeye would also be great, but you said you wanted high health (oops XD), I think Task’s assist is just slightly better as well, Hawkeye’s can be ducked by a lot of characters. Task is slightly harder to pick up than Hawkeye though, not that either is hard at all.
Well, I am playing Rocket Raccoon after all, so taskmaster shouldn’t be too hard haha. On paper this sounds perfect, here’s hoping it works.
Trust I’ve known about that since like the first month of UMvC3 XD lol It’s really good I normally just DHC out and take the picture pretty much gets you to level 4 instantly. I use Hawkeye for mixups those arrows are really good for that and for hit confirms too.
Yeah I think I’ll be planning on experimenting with this setup but I’ve been at home for the holidays and have no-one to play against, even online because the web is terrible here.
