I’d swap between both Sent and Doom, depending on the opposing team. If you need a beam assist to clear assists like Drones, Plasma Beam’s your friend, and against chars/teams that can clear out your own Drones, Plasma Beam will help out. Anyone else, you can run Drones. I hate Sent by himself though…

How do you guys feel about Hawkeye as a teammate for RR?

I’ve been messing around a bit with a Rocket team. Running RR/Ammy/Chris right now, but considering switching the order to Chris/RR/Ammy. I feel like all of these guys benefit from a full roster of assists, but I trust my Ammy way more than my Chris for comeback factor.

Rock n’ Roll DHC’d into Okami Shuffle (and vice versa) works really well, but I’m pretty sure Sweep/Grenade can DHC into Rock n’ Roll too.

Mostly digging the assist support these guys get from one another. Cold Star’s obviously good for pinning and positioning, and I feel like RR really benefits from that. Then there’s the obvious perk of having Chris’ gunfire for fullscreen mixups. Pendulum also keeps people up for the rest of Chris’ grenade super. I really want to start figuring out ways to work in Ammy’s Vale of Mist for mix up shenanigans.

Got varying success out of the team for the past few nights, but it definitely needs work. My amazing ability to choke on SRK motions from the P2 side of the screen isn’t doing me any favors with Rocket or Chris.

Sent by himself is just jump and fly until you annoy your opponent into eating a j.H lol. Hit buttons and hope for the best.

Playing RR online is so…meh. Hawkeye seems like he’d be a good fit. The triple arrows + log trap sound like they can be pretty gay to non-teleporting characters.

But that’s so dry LOL. Suppose without assists, Sent’s not hot anyway, so it doesn’t matter.

Played RR online, forget it haha. And thanks for reassurance on Hawkeye+RR! Planning to pair them up, now I just need a 3rd char.

I’m going to pickup Ammy and see how she works out instead of sentinel. She would also replace him on my X-23 team so win/win!

I was also thinking of picking up Ammy too, nice lockdown assist, a versatile character and an interesting one.

And a badass anchor.

I use RR/Hawkeye/Doom Log/I’m not sure/Plasma beam.

Doom helps RR and hawkeye with plasma beam. When RR isn’t KOed in the first five seconds he does occasionally help out with log trap.

You can link double gimlet with assist too by calling Log trap just before you go for the OTG poison into Gimlet and it combos into wall bounce, but I haven’t found much you can do after it aside from another gimlet.

Actually while I’m here on the topic of assists I’m not sure what hawkeye assist to use. Scatter seems too situational, so probably greyhound or poison is the best. Triple is obvious in it’s application and not bad at it, but I’m sure there are setups with RR into a cross-up poison arrow which would allow for a way to potentially add a further 90k onto combos when it hits and when you’re talking about RR the extra damage is nothing to be sneezed at.

Thoughts?

IMO, either go with GreyHound for extra cover or Poison Shot for poison damage, though out of the two, I’d probably use GreyHound. Haven’t looked at his other assist enough.

Yup, greyhound. Better chip, more blockstun, more univerisal, doesn’t knock down like doom beam, etc.

Hmm okay. Never considered the lack of knock-down as a positive difference.

Good insight. Thanks everyone. I think poison has it’s uses in close range crossup situations but is probably way too situational and greyhound would benefit doom as well when he ever gets on point with others still alive. Plus hawkeye is wide open during the poison so yeah…bit of an odd one.

currently running RR(log trap)/dr strange (eye of agomotto)/hawkeye (greyhound) with pretty decent results

P.S.I failwhen it comes go heavy teleporters and strider assist -___- anyone know any workarounds aside from sitting there and trying to block?

Vajra is a specific annoyance. It’s -7 on block but whats stupid is you can’t punish it when you block it standing. If you’re expecting a vajra from Strider on point jump and block it in the air then you have to land and punish. It’s quite ridiculous how good that move is.

As for the assist yeah that’s a pain. I haven’t looked at the assist specific version in the bible, but it could just become one of those assists you’ll want to snap in and try to murder.

Speaking of which. My current RR snap-back combo is as follows post launch:

j.B, j.S, Bear trap, Log trap, dash forward then into them with wild ripper. In a BNB I would relaunch but since wild ripper is a command normal you can cancel it into his snapback, which fyi is the same animation as wild ripper so get used to delaying it a little as I found being too eager on the snap caused the first wild ripper to hit but then I’d whiff under on the snap-back attack.

Been playing Vergil(Rapid Slash)/RR(Pendulum)/Dante(Jam Session) for fun. Pendulum helps Vergil do EZ mode combos as well as having a huge hitbox for jumpers. It can also help Dante combo off an airthrow if you want. For RR, Dante is a great AA and Vergil’s Rapid Slash pushes the opponent back on block and hit if you want to zone.

Also if you have two bars or more, Mad Hopper DHC Devil Trigger (Dante) -> Air Trick against a jumping opponent sets up an almost unseeable crossup with Mad Hopper bouncing them back for you to hit with jS.

RR works great with haggar’s assist

So I’ve recently changed up my RR team, running RR and Firebrand in their own teams that complement them properly.

Im running RR (pendulum) / Hawkeye (GreyHound) / Doom (Hidden Missiles)

I really prefer having RR on point, he might not build meter, but he really needs those assists. With assists up, I feel pretty beastly, I mostly play an annoying zone game then go in for a Hawkeye assist + teleport, even if they block it I can setup a boulder trap because they can’t push block the arrows. Once I land that combo I either go for a reset, use a meter and continue pressure or use 2 meters to DHC into Hawkeye for a kill/bad matchup (or just to recover red health even, though I should probably be dead if I have red health)

I use pendulum to make Hawkeye’s painfully unsafe normals safe so I can fish for good meterless combos using Hidden Missiles. Pendulum also helps cover that spot that only an up tilted H arrows can cover in his zoning game.

Doom’s missiles are incredibly useful obviously, I love them haha. If I get a good pressure string, the missiles will lead into an unblockable if not pushblocked correctly. Even from fullscreen a block hidden missiles means a rocket skate in > unblockable, it’s pretty easy to see why the assist is amazing, assuming I don’t call it in unsafely.

Still my greatest problem is opposing teleporters in particular Wesker + the DMC twins, annoying that their teleports seem to straight out beat Rocket’s.

Do you ever have issues with shorter characters that can crouch under greyhound and if so how do you address them?

Hmm well I haven’t yet, this team is pretty new to me and I haven’t played offline yet so I’ve only really been dealing with online randomness. I guess if someone crouching under Hawkeye really is a problem I can just try to outzone and maybe even wait for a Hidden Missiles to be blocked. My biggest problem at the moment is people jumping in on me, neither of my assists work too well for that, traps are useless and the pendulum has to be timed pretty well.

Hey I’m new here lol. I’m having trouble with my team right now. So far I have Rocket (Pendulum) and Hawkeye (Triple Arrow). I don’t have a point character per say I have Frank West but it’s like he can’t do much against zoning. I want to try either Nova or Firebrand but the DHC for Firebrand to Rocket is not that great lol

I tried to force Firebrand and Rocket onto one team as well and ended up just making separate teams for both of them. Doom has extremely good synergy with that team (the one I use haha) with either Hidden Missiles or Plasma Beam assist. Other good options could be Dormammu, Spencer or Sentinel, though there’s quite a few characters who can work in that third slot, Rocket/Hawkeye are already very synergistic. Nova strikes me as more of a point character, but I don’t know much about him so that mightn’t be totally accurate.
