Honestly, Task horizontal arrows is the obvious choice. However, if you’ve seen how Jint plays, or even experience it, Task up arrows is really good for Cap. It’s a better version of scattershot by a long shot, and is kind of the poor man’s missiles. Raccoon suffers from the same directly above and in front of him deadzone, and having these poor missiles will help for teleport mixups.
I do agree though, it’s safer and more dirty for cap to go into swords, and I’m not saying cap / verg isn’t good. I’m just trying to open up another avenue with cap / log / up arrows. Anyway, you’re not supposed to use H.CS lol. Even Condor Missile uses M.CS. It gets you close enough and is safe enough for your assists to still be active by the time you get out of it.
In any case that’s a discussion for Cap forums. Cap / RR / Up arrows is what I would recommend if you were going to put Task anchor. You can up arrows + burrow and be super ambiguous with it, also, the hitstun is long enough to combo out of.
hmmm you know this may lead me to try Cap/vergil/task(up). I have been trying to look into Jint for awhile, but his combo video has yet to come. As far as CS H, it’s totally valid with vergil/dante(weasel)/task(h arrow), all other assists require CS M.
I’m still messing with RR, but he is very difficult on point.
Alright, I’ve recently decided to give RR another look after dropping him last year from one of my early point Spider-Man teams(it was Spidey/RR/Doom then). The Spidey/RR part wasn’t the problem. Those two work really well together and I’m well versed on pretty much all known synergy between them. More specifically, I had trouble finding X/RR/X shells that didn’t become very bad once the point character dies. If Spidey died, RR/Doom was very prone to getting run over or even lamed out. I would have looked to RR/Ammy, but Ammy doesn’t really give Spidey much aside from the obligatory Cold Star stuff(he gets a bit more from her if Doom is on the team, but that’s another story). Now I’m looking at RR/Strider since I’m thinking there may be some potential there, but there’s an obvious issue with it that I’m trying to solve: the damage sucks. The Vajra + teleport mixup is strong, but since RR’s teleport is a little worse than most his confirms off Vajra are pretty tough to get consistently without resorting to Bear Trap, and the combo that follows is scaled severely.
So my question is: Do any of you think RR/Strider is good, and if so is there a good way to get past the damage problem(maybe with a really good reset or something)? Also, if you don’t think it’s so strong, what are some stronger RR shells other than RR/Ammy?
I use Jill / RR / Strider, and I’ve come up with a bunch of really nasty resets, as well as stole a few myself. It’s not that bad, really, but if you don’t like 2-touching people, then yeah it’s bad. Dorm / RR is really good and can be used in both directions.
Hey there, I never really have posted on SRK before, but I’m trying to re-spark my interest in UMVC3 now. I’ve always wanted to play RR but never put the time into him. I was thinking of playing, Hawkeye, RR, Strange.
anyone care to share their thoughts on this? It would primarily be a zoning team with log trap and bolts backing up Hawkeye.
I’ve been a Team Nemo player for too long now, and I know RR can set up strange to go into the FoF loops. I was wondering if this was the oil bomb set up only? I saw a video that was spacing dependent but Wesker was able to set strange up off the wall bounce assist, just wondering if anyone has tried that mid combo with RR. I’ll have some time this weekend to mess around this weekend, and can let anyone know if they would like.
I’m making a new team of cap (1st, CS), Chris (2nd, machine gun), RR (pendulum). Assist seem to work well for all three characters. Still working on my bnb’s. Any suggestions or opinions? Trying to break away from zero May cry
Have you considered Chris’ machine gun assist? It has the lockdown of weasel shot but with the full screen range and qualities of a beam, a bit les scaling than unibeam. I think it’s the best “beam assist” for cap’s charging star and cartwheel shenanigans.
I think I would work well with Vergil as we’ll too cover his teleports and poking game with f H+assist.
I’ve tried this team before. While you get awesome and damaging DHCs you don’t get much in terms of DHC’ing in safely, there might be a problem. Just be careful of that. I think this team can be in any order, however, RR doesn’t help Chris with any of his usual shenanigans. Log is too short to hit full screen and that is where some Chris players like to be. Up close Strider helps with knocking people down into c.H. So Chris + RR, not a good combo.
im relatively new to raccoon, I played him early on for a while out of character loyalty but dropped him cuz I could never snag a win with him, but now I think Im ready to pick him back up. I was planning on putting him on my skrull team but I would need to put him on anchor (Skrull(stone smite) Haggar(lariat) RR(spitfire)) and im not sure anchor RR is viable. I also want to play Dante RR Vergil, shouts to Oreo
Raccoon anchor is kind of hard to run. He’s best with assists. XF3 is good, he has a lot of one touch kills. It’s not free wins, but you can generally kill the whole team if they have average HP. He doesn’t have dirty mixups, but his speed boost + mobility should be enough to help you open people up.
TK Spitfire -> teleport is good, not something you should be striving to do. Super telegraphed and not very safe. Also, play around with burrow -> mad hopper while you’re emerging from burrow. SUPER unsafe because they can mash you on MH start up, but it is worth throwing out once in a while.
Learn confirms off of j.S because you can confuse your opponent by sj.S on the way up -> df.skates -> falling j.S. You’ll get some random hits this way. Also, if you use falling j.H you can option select into air throw. From 50-60% of the screen away, sj.M -> df.skates -> falling j.H will be a quick OS throw overhead crossup. Generally if you hit someone w/ a falling j.S and they’re in the air, a float S will put them into place for a launch.
So I’ve posted here in the past and I seem to still be stuck lol I actually took a hiatus and decided to give the game another go. I’m having trouble of choosing a point for Rocket Raccoon and Ammy. I would use Ammy as an anchor or a strong anchor character. I would use Vergil but I’m like stubborn when it comes to the cheap stuff. I really am stuck between a rock and a hard place. lol
Any leads on which characters are like that. That’s why I’ve been kinda stuck. I was thinking Wolverine, Strider or Nova. I would use Jill but my execution is really bad xD
Lamu and I both main jill. Ill tell you right now that jill requires exponentially more work than nearly any other character, especially when it comes to matchup knowledge. If you want something easier, I strongly suggest wolverine, nova, vergil, wesker, zero, or even magneto. All are much easier executionally than jill…they also have a much easier neutral game. I don’t suggest point strider paired with raccoon for a few reasons:
strider has a moderately high execution barrier (rwlative to mvc3 standards at least)
point strider has low damage output for the most part, with a few exceptions. Strider also needs to keep wallbounce for his bnb so log trap hinders him a little, although I’m sure there’s something that would work combo wise. Just might need to get creative.
raccoon backed by vajra is better than strider backed by log (in my opinion)
you would have a very very low hp team and people chipping 2/3rds of your team would be a very real possibility
I’m leaning towards Nova, Vergil or possibly Spencer. I actually have RR, Ammy and Strider as a team but low health is why I never main it. I would use Zero but I can’t LL. Would have to opt out for resets and etc. Thanks though
If you want to use Zero, just look up how to do the 2013 LL. There are no tiger knees involved. Its very easy and nets over 1.1 mil solo from a cr.M confirm. Just youtube “umvc3 2013 lightning loop”. It should be the first result.
Zero kinda has this reputation of being a high execution character, but hes really not when compared to some other characters (And lets not even talk about other franchises)
