It’s a gamble for larger damage. There’s a video of someone on this forum playing against a Boxer who uses resets and gets a huge pay off in terms of damage. Think it is earlier in this thread actually.
look up Shinakuma on utube, he does this a lot.
how did the guy do the ultra in that against cammy? it doesnt even look like he did the button input in it as you can see his hands while he does it… and u cant even see his akuma punch or kick or anything before the ultra… you always see that when i do it
Yeah, lots of people give negative rep for no reason, which is awesome. Thanks a bunch man! It’s definitely a “process” to get all that footage compiled and lined up, rendered out and separated into parts.
I was using those newly-found kara link/plinking/whatevers and more specifically a motion Muken referred to me. Think of it as two inputs.
Input 1: D/B+LP~MP~HP
Input 2: U/B+LK+LP+MP+HP
The “~” means to roll your fingers across those buttons pretty fast, much like a kara throw would be executed i.e. Ken. This motion in particular is super-easy and effective, it allows me to hit reversals and anti-air demons on the drop of a dime.
im confused i dont get it… u do both the inputs or just choose one? and whats d/b mean? its really confusing it doesnt seem at all like the ,2 lp ,back lk, hp regular input
D/B = down/back, meaning the lower-left diagonal. U/B = up/back.
I’m not really going to go out of my way to explain the kara links and how they work, but suffice to say me hitting LP~MP~HP registers two LP’s, and then the second input (U/B+LK+HP) is the back, LK, and HP. I hit all three punches in the second input to make it easier on my fingers.
im doing the down back and pressing the 3 punch buttons one by one really quick… i guess u dont have sanwa buttons so it makes it easier? mine are so sensitive so most of the time im hitting 2 buttons at the same time
that’s pretty much the idea of using all three punches, even if you hit two of them at the same time, as long as you hit the last one a couple frames later the game should register at least 2 LPs. I can do them on Seimitsu buttons, so I don’t think you should have a problem with sanwas.
just takes practice. My problem was the fact that im always used to rolling my buttons from right to left. No i had to do them in reverse took me about 5 hours of doing it straight but its just like old school 3s demon in the sense that it might be slightly hard to learn but once you get it down its easy as shit.
edit it LMAO
did it from right to left first time it doesnt matter which way you go…
Input 1: D/B+LP~MP~HP
Input 2: U/B+LK+LP+MP+HP
when i do this what should i be seeing in the input commands in sf4 for each frame?
I do indeed have Sanwa hardware, OBSF-30’s and a JLF to be exact. It should make it easier if anything, not harder.
ok i can sorta do it what i do is press the stick downback and at the same time press all 3 punch buttons… i press them all at once not alternatly… then i press upback and lk + mp hp but when it does the demon but he still throws a punch before he does… its still fast but it could be faster… neways back on topic sorry lol
It’s simply to get more damage, at a risk of course. The demon flip throw doesn’t scale at that point, in either damage or stun. Plus there is more advanced mix up to do if you combo is scaling heavily. You can reset with a fierce punch which can do almost as much damage as the SRK, and then you can medium demon flip palm strike to land on the back. The medium demon flip palm strike on the back avoids DP’s that are done as a reversal. Once landed the Akuma can start an anti throw string that techs a throw if the opponent attempts one or can beat the throw attempt/confuse their block, leading to a new combo that doesn’t scale and possibly a dizzy.
I test alot of resets in my match vids - http://www.youtube.com/user/ShinAkuma204
If there’s one power I wish I could steal from you it would be your silly resets that lead into big damage. I think I play too cowardly when I actually get next to someone.
I have this problem too. I practice a lot with Akuma, but when it comes to fighting real opponents I cant seem to use many of the techniques that I learn on training.
It will vary on what you see in the input commands, but you should see two jabs appear if you’re doing it correctly. I’ll give a couple examples.
example 1, plinking jab off of MP
U/B+LP+MP+HP+LK
Back
D/B+HP
D/B+LP+MP
D/B+LP
example 2, hitting LP+MP at same time, plinking off HP
U/B+LP+MP+HP+LK
Back
D/B+LP+MP+HP
D/B+LP+MP
That back input is just me jumping from D/B to U/B, and it’s going from how you’ll actually see it on screen, bottom to top. The reason you plink LP~MP~HP is so that if you hit LP and MP at the same time by accident you can still get another jab in there to complete your fast input.

DOA Player Perfect Legend is better than I expected. He made the transition almost seemlessly…
do your move your fingers left to right or right to left when your pressing the lp~mp~hp? and im guessing you press them one at a time really fast? then you move your stick up and press all 4 of those buttons at once… yes i know im really really dumb and need a full explanation lol
Really bad idea to waste 2 meters on the fadc> red fireball at the end of 1st match
I actually disagree. Seth had close to no health left so it was actually worth it. I would normally agree that FADC into a Red Ball after a strong DP doesn’t do enough damage to justify the use of the two bars, there are times when your foe is near a KO and you have them in a combo. Sometimes that little extra damage is enough to finish them off without them ever gaining control of their character.
Though I think I may have done a different combo sequence there.
