lol @ the last match, Kanbara was just playing with that Ryu.
Seems like Kanbara is a big fan of the air tatsu cross up after a SRK knockdown. Great use of the DF punch to drop right into footsie range as well. And lots of baiting with LP red fb.
Keep in mind when Kanbara does that, he first looks and confirms that the opponent did not quickrise. So he knows exactly when they will rise. It’s very risky to just do it off of any srk knockdown if your opponent still has the option to quick-rise.
I usually prefer to do it only off of no-quickrise knockdowns like sweep. Kanbara though, has trained his opponents not to quickrise by doing a lot of meaty chips timed to hit quick-risers. He then stands there and does nothing, waiting for their quickrise window to expire, then jumps for the tatsu crossup mixup.
Can someone confirm what’s happening at 7.31 for me. It looks like he’s ending the combo with QCB+LK -> c.HP -> Demon Flip. It’s the c.HP I’m not sure about.
What was the point of that though? Wouldn’t ending that combo with a FP.SRK do more damage and be safer (that demon flip throw can be reversed) than resetting the opponent with LP and then demon flipping at them for a throw? Maybe he’s just trying to get a knockdown that can’t be quick-rised?
