We already defeated Sheng-long! The Akuma Video Thread

Ryu’s sweep is very fast, I doubt he did it on reaction.

I think he’d end up dominating him. Diago has lost long sets before. He’s getting old and new players are catching up. Plus, Ryu isn’t good enough to compete with the better characters. You need more than just a solid character now. Akuma, Rufus, Viper, Seth, Cammy and possibly Ibuki are all better choices. Ryu is just too ordinary.

He banked on Daigo being Daigo and it paid off. Any trap like that you can not react you have to anticipate the punish. He was assuming Daigo’s punishes would be on point.

yes, he was buffering a demon on his sweep and expected a block then a punish attempt from Daigo to finish the demon . Whatever Daigo choice, seeing the sweep not blocked automatically tell him to finish the demon.
When you do this you have to keep spamming :hk:+:lp: even after the sweep connect, to be sure you can launch a demon late.

The character choice for Daigo was not the problem [Beat latif’s Viper 2-0] nor does old age in a video game [he is only thirty something] have anything to do with it. The fact is Daigo was very predictable with his play. His MK to fireball gave up big punishes when Infiltration focused through them. He was very hesitant to poke/attack that’s why he got sweeped alot. Daigo’s psyche was distorted from the very first hadouken [at the very start of round 1], the guy was timid the rest of the matches.

If I had to bet when it comes to infil vs Daigo in a long set, it’d be on Daigo. He’s still extremely good and does very well in long sets, I just think the pressure gets to him in US tournaments at times. IIRC last long set he played recently was vs Sako (another insane player) and Daigo beat him something like 60-40, don’t remember the exact numbers.

I doubt we’d see much focus from Infil after Daigo adjusted his game.

Great Stuff A G Liive.

I like the part where Infiltration won… =P

what a comeback in the first game ! most people would have tried to land a demon.

hands down, solid.

i wish they would have shown poongkos wins as well in the videos

Yeah, strange there weren’t any of Poongko’s wins in there, but clearly infiltration was running a train over him with so many win streaks lol. I don’t know what is it that makes infiltrations Akuma so good, like you could say reactions, sure, this dude has some sick reflexes but on the other hand, I still consider Eita to have the best reactions out of all Akuma players, I mean just look at the replays, he missed so many anti-air shoryukens, watching poongko go off to the sky and dive-kicking, considering he’s the one who demoned Daigo’s sweep and Gamerbee’s Jaguar Tooth (and twice at that!) it’s strange to see him miss an AA shoryuken in a relatively common situation so many times lol.

It seems like what surprises top-players the most is his control over the character, he seems to do whatever the fuck he want’s whenever the fuck he wants, in that regard he’s like -6. Yeah, I think I finally got it! xD

Well this is online matches. The obvious difference between Infiltration’s online play and Evo play is intensity. When you play online there is no consequence to losing. When you play in the biggest tourney in the world you can’t lose, so one would step up their game vs casual play.

just found this vid on youtube… i didnt even know that tokido played this match on stream

this is a basic combo… but ive never seen anyone land a combo like this on sagat since vanilla, because of the st rh nerf i didnt think akuma could land it after a jab anymore… has this been possible since vanilla? and has this been done in matches already?

Yeah, there’s a whole set between bonchan an tokido where he does the exact same combos plus other standing jab stuff - might’ve been topanga league or something can’t remember. YouTube it, sure there’s some footage of Eita doing the same. Funny hitbox on sagat.

That combo is hard and for the most part unreliable, very hitbox and space specific now, you literally have to space the far standing jab to hit on the 2nd active frame (the move only has 2 active frames), if you connected on the first the combo will not be possible because you won’t have enough frame advantage to connect a far roundhouse after it. It’s NOT easy to do vs Sagat.

If I’m not mistaken the combo works best vs Adon, Honda & Rufus due to weird hitbox reasons.
