yeah i hate it when I finally get the trick and the guy just passes to the next mixup. I have the feeling a lot of his advantage this month was the awkward game style he use compared to the “usuals” Akumas. And this probably screwed up the opponents counting on landing few punishes + low health + well known vortex stuff.

This might have been a valid point had Infiltration relied on gimmicks and shenanigans and not Street Fighter fundamentals.

It won’t happen. If anything they will nerf Seth and buff the lower tier characters. Akuma isn’t a free win like many think he is.
I agree. infiltration was on point on every match up! That’s why he won so convincingly. It didn’t really come up to vortex…The guy was punishing everything. Daigo couldn’t even throw a fireball and his gouken is also very impressive. That guy knows his match up and his spacing is so perfect that the characters he plays seems broken.
Edit: and I think they won’t nerf anything anymore…8 characters in top 8 and no rufus or fei…

I’m not so sure about that if they release another balance patch i’d be willing to bet akuma would receive more nerfs.

Ok, let me rephrase that so you can feel special. The forums had a great many people whining about how the vortex was now busted and that Akuma was going to struggle much more. I guess if these people were only winning with mixups then they would feel that way. I tried having a conversation about winning without relying on the vortex and quite a few people basically said that after vanilla, Akuma’s damage was so nerfed that he had to rely on mixups more often than not. I’m not going to bother digging through posts from when AE 2012 was first released to multiquote every single person (not my specialty), but the text is there.
I only regret the red fireball as best ender, it was so beautiful in a match. And the 3f safe jump lost for our f.throw setups.
Now online, any shoto masher can grow BP on me, I lost the godly tool to make em learn something.

For one thing the vortex was still a big part of Infiltrations game, he did not win without the vortex. Second, Infiltrations performance doesn’t change the fact that Akuma needs to vortex to win consistently unless of course you feel that making incredible reads 100% of the time is a more viable option…?
After watching it again, the sweep cancel demon was on a pretty smart trap by Daigo, jump in then st.lk whiff at close range to make a sweep whiff and then punish with his own sweep.
Guys who says there will be a patch ever again for SSF4? I don’t think there will be another one ever again [Maybe new fighting/Bonus stages?]. This is it till SF5. Don’t worry about Akuma being nerfed.
Well, Infiltration won EVO with Akuma but I really think he would have won with Gouken too, he was on another planet this week end.
The worst thing is that he didn’t really use the best Akuma’s tool (aka vortex), his vortex is good but not crazy if you make a comparison with Tokido shiki.
But His footsies and reading are just so godlike, his use of Ragind demon is absolutely perfect, and his DEFENSE is great.He doesn’t use predictable TP, and he is never blocked in the corner because of his amazing footsies.
His Akuma is not under pressure, he is a rusher, Infiltration is like “Ok I’m just in front of you,let’s play footsies”, and he is too good on that point,even Daigo was unable to deal with that.
If this guy step-up his setups/vortex, he will be forbidden for the next tournaments lol.
Oh and I really think Eita was affected by the PS3 support.He barely succeeded any single combo (tatsu shoryu fail is usually really significant), Clakey D did well but he didn’t face the true Freedom fighter IMO.
woow that shows how advanced those players are. I didn’t know about this setup and apparently Inflitration was well aware of this trick. He read Daigo like a book. Poor beast I wonder what he will try next. Ryu is a good solid character espacially when you are good at footsies ans spacing…but at this level what can you do with ryu?
I don’t think he should rely more on vortex. His akuma is a perfect balance as it is right now.To be a great Akuma player, I think you have to be good at footsies and be aware of every demon you can land.
I don’t think Infiltration saw the trap coming in fact. He only knew a sweep at this range would have been unsafe on a Daigo block so he did it with a demon buffered. Then Daigo did this lk whiff and sweep, and Infiltration solid reaction finished the demon inputs while other would have been a bit surprised and screwed.
It looks like he canceled the sweep on the last recovery frame. I didn’t even knew recovery frames could be canceled lol.
