We already defeated Sheng-long! The Akuma Video Thread

9:49 looks familar while online.

Who really knows other than Daigo? He’s played other characters on the side casually, and he said he was going to play Akuma in 2012, but maybe he’s still just tooling around with the idea and using him in his “free time” to see if he thinks the character will suit him.

He’s probably looking at Akuma as a Fei counterpick since Ryu still loses that match.

Yea I think it is to counter pick Ryu’s bad matches because Akuma seems to cover them quite well.

Is it really that important though, since most tournaments in Japan have a 1-character-only policy?

Yeah mostly because Daigo’s SF4 major tourney success occurs outside Japan.

Four Wude

Wow Adeel, lookin’ sharp there!

EX Flip, EX Hado???.. Reeeeeeeeeeeaaally? Good on ya for using it against your opponent! That takes balls!

I subbed. I know what the four wude are, but did you get the idea from Shenmue as opposed to real-life? Awesome matches.

A bit off topic, but it looks like Infiltration is done with Akuma for the time being.

Too bad, I’d lilke to hear the reasoning behind the switch, does he think Akuma is bad? Or he just loves Gouken over Gouki these days? I think it’s the latter, but who knows D:

Or maybe Gouken vs Ryu is an easier matchup than akuma vs ryu.

This is what I was thinking as well honestly. I don’t want to have to use a backup character, but the Ryu fight is just completely stupid. It’s totally doable, but you have to work harder than your opponent.

Don’t we always have to work harder than our opponents? :stuck_out_tongue:

What do you guys think about Daigo using that srk after blockstrings?
I tend to go for c.mp, hoping for a counterhit into sweep. Is it more effective range and “priority” wise or is that just a Daigo thing coming from Ryu?

Daigo doesn’t often go for delayed srk in his block-strings, actually he prefers to frame trap with his cr.mp\cr.mk\f.HP normals when his playing Ryu. I think he does the delayed srk with Gouki because the first hit does decent damage and leaves them on the ground for a follow-up combo, which most characters do not have.
That’s actually funny, I never do that, I never cancel the first hit of a DP, I always cancel the second one and just juggle with shaku if I got the hit and 99% precent of Akumas do the same thing, like Tokido or -6 lol. It’s defenetly something new, and it’s pretty good, it does more damage then a shaku follow-up and it carries them to the corner, since he goes for a st.HP into HK tatsu, and when tatsu done up-close, it forces them to stand-up and all hit’s connect, even if the opponent was crouching (which they usually do durning block-strings lol). Not to mention it does significantly more stun too, which is really important.

Yeah Diago has improved his Gouki A LOT. I find myself watching every match i can from him, just to try to pick up on the finer details of what he uses to punish certain moves,or what kind of bait he sticks out to get the opponent to guess wrong.
