It really sucks that these match videos are being pulled.

Bros, help me out here. Its AE 2012 and Tokido is doing fwd throw xx st. RH xx DF Dive Kick. Couldn’t Ken SRK it even though he chose not to? What am I missing here?

Ken’s DPs differ from Ryu’s in that HP lacks a lot of invuln and MP has a slower startup making these options VS Ken a lot safer than against say Ryu or Akuma. I believe EX SRK would snuff the dive kick outright however.

Ken’s EX DP whiffs on dive kicks.

You guys watching this?

Despite all of Infiltration’s Gouken and Hakan fuckery of late, when it matters he still runs Akuma. He’s playing really well so far.

Switched to Hakan when it was all on the line tho.

Tokido bodied Fuudo so bad lmao.

What the hell is with Infiltration switching to Hakan? Isn’t that stuiped? D: Hakan can do well againts someone that doesn’t know the match-up, and Infiltrations Hakan is probably the best I’ve seen so far, but he is still one of the worsest characters in the game, and switching to him when you’re facing a BS character like Viper? Man that’s a bad move I think, I wish he would’ve stuck to the Demon, next thing you know, we’ll see Tokido relying on Seth to win him his tough battles instead of believing in his main ):

I think he tought that Hakan’s U2 would deter Viper from jumping all over the screen with her burn kicks, making the matchup more manageable at that point. As for Tokido, well sadly, it looks like he’s given up on playing Akuma the way he used to (I.E.: setup oriented). Now you’d think he’d gone to the lab and found all the new setups like people have done here, yet he chooses to play all random DF and air fireballs and… Well, he’s playing more of a Turtle style than I’ve ever seen him play.

He’s been playing a lot of Seth lately and it looks like he’s already mastered many setups with him. He’s not as “flashy” as Poongko, but it looks like he’s applying his old “Akuma” methodology and takes his opponents appart with one setup after another. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Tokido decided to switch to Seth. Actually, I’d love it, because then maybe Capcom would take notice and fix what they broke: Akuma didn’t need to be touched. He was fine in Super and AE.

Have you wathced the matches? He didn’t even used U2, he’s gone for U1, that’s why I’m confused… If he’d choosen U2, well I can’t say that would justify his switch to one of the most low-tier characters in the game, but at least we could see the reasoning behind it, no matter how bad it was… But he chose U1, and he landed it like almost every single round, but even that didn’t get him the win againts that no-brain character lol.

And as for Tokido, yes I too believe that there’s a big possibility that he would switch to Seth, escpecially seeing he’s recent play, it kinda seems he’s lost his motivation. I think Seth is now better then Akuma, virtually in every aspect except for the health bar and footsies. He’s got much better, and safer vortex, he’s got the best shoryu, he’s got the best air-mobility, he has the best FA, he’s got a great zoning game, and he’s got 2 useful ultras as well. But I don’t think Capcom will give a shit about it, they never did, and Akuma is not low-tier no matter how you put it, he’s just not as good as he used to be, and that is not reason enough for Capcom to start fixing something. And considering everybody else is pretty happy with what they’re characters recieved (except for Yun and Yang I guess, but 90% of players played the twins just cuz they were overpowered, so no one gives a fuck about they’re nerfs as well lol), I think it’s pretty safe to say that this is the last version of SF4 series, and we’ll just got to deal with it. Sad story ):

P.S. and just for the lulz, I would bet you on a hundred backs that if Capcom would decide to release another balance-patch for AE, Gouki would get nerfed again, and recieve some minor buff like, say 20 more damage on his U2! Or some useless buff, just to prevent Akuma players from saying that they’re character just get’s nerfed and nerfed again, without recieving anything in return. Like, for instance, a great and really useful EX Zanku out of EX DF, look ain’t that cool to have, eh, Gouki users? xD

Yeah, y’know, I did sorta glanced at the videos, but I was so sure he was using U2… I couldn’t imagine picking Hakan against Viper and NOT use U2… Oh well, so much for that theory! LOL!

As for Capcom releasing another patch? Yeah, I’m not holding my breath. But they did buff Ryu back to relevancy with v2012, even though he was never “low-tier” after Super and AE. But I guess they really wanted to see Diago back in the spotlight after his abysmal tier-whoring ploy @ EVO 2K11 with Yun went horribly wrong… But, who knows? Maybe if enough top-tier Akuma players drop from sight (or switch outright like many have been leaning towards lately), they decide to release another slight tweak in the near future. It’s not like Capcom’s never done it before!

Hate to argue about it, but I think youre way too optimistic about Capcom’s possible behavior lol, but we’ll see what happens.

And as for the Ryu getting buffed and all, well part of the reason might be cuz many top-players droped him (the highlight beign of cource, Daigo’s tier-whoring, though nor only Daigo’s to be frank, virtually all Japan gone nuts and refused to use anyone else beside the twins), but the better reason, and I’m fucking sure of it, was that Ryu is a scrub favorite character. He’s the main character, the face and symbol of SF, and thus he’s one of the most popular characters in the game, and scrubs aka casuals whine much louder and harder then hardcore audience.
I was playing AE last night on PSN, and I’ve fought literally 8 differend Blanka players that I’ve never seen before. And this happens almost every game session I make, I just meet more new Blanka and Ryu users xD Online is pretty much 30% Ryu players, 30% Blanka players, 15% Ken players, and the last 25% goes for everyone else.
And Akuma isn’t a scrub character, people drop him the minute they begin to see how much effort they have to put in him in order to be good, while still running the most chances to be outrandomed by virtually anyone  So, going from this logic, chances for Akuma to get a buff-patch are even lower, cuz we don’t scream hard enough about it, and they’re not much of us to scream anyway. We’ve petitiond Capcom before 2012 came out, now how did that work out? xD

Anyway, we’re begining to sound way to whiny here, I don’t really want to complain, it’s Capcoms game, and they can do whatever the fuck they want with it, I’ve learned that much, I still love Gouki, and I will never drop him, the fact that some high lvl players may begin to drop my character upsets me, but that’s it, Tokido may go and play Seth, I’ll just root for -6 then, or someone else that might show up on the scene with an awsome Gouki, cuz in the end, I find SF4 to be such a great game mainly because I have found my favorite character there, so watching him in action destroying people at tournaments is when I have the most fun with this game, and if someone drops a character they like just cuz they want an easier win, well can’t say I have much respect for those people

Does anyone EVER use that EX Flip >> EX Fireball buff at all? What a useless change.

Epic MBR comeback is all i can say.

And a really sloppy performance by Tokido yet again… He was so afraid of that random Cody he teleported away like 10 times durning a regular blockstring, and he eat like EVERY SINGLE ex bingo… Can’t believe this shit… He just does random DF, jumps a lot like a newbie, eats lvl3 FA, doesn’t abuse on him his stHK to stuff those random FA… He’s just off, really off…

I’d be curious to see how Tokido goes at this Ultimate Crushing (lol) tournament in Deutschland. Though to be honest, its his performance against his high level peers that I am more interested in and these recent stats don’t exactly bode well for the dude. Outside of Japan tournaments and indeed playing against Japanese players (sans a handful of strong players scattered around) Tokido’s invitational appearances at many tournaments is like inviting a train to plough through your living room so its not really indicative of where he stands in the main pecking order. Godsgarden and this Topanga league kinda do that.

I can’t imagine him being particularly pleased with the end results either so I’m curious as to what his response will be (in terms of adapting styles, focusing on weak matchupsm etc) if any at all. I’m irritated that I haven’t been able to see all the matches though - I was really eager to see his match against Daigo and Uryo.

Have you guys spied any more matches from the later Topanga rounds? Hell, I don’t even know if that’s kosher to ask here but there it goes anyway.

While I’m also ranting away, it would be really cool if these guys held another online FT10 style Godsgarden tournament like the one held back in the Super days. That remains perhaps the best tournament/series I’ve seen and it was entertaining as all hell to watch live. Mago himself also said that he really liked it and felt it was a great event and something he’d like to see happen again.

Edit:

MBR was really good, really on point with his demon setups and punishes, lacked in the AA department though. Shame he lost to Ryan Hart’s Sagat who just disrespected him and mashed random shoryus the first game and scared him… Lol it seems that if you want to win Gouki this days, you just mash shit like an imbecile xD Worked fot that random Cody againts Tokido, worked for Ryan Hart too xD

top two highlights of this german tourney (for me):

  1. MBR come back, he deserve guile theme, lost to the ryan welcome back sagat… with a “arguable” style to play with o.O, almost for what i see sagat user actually.
  2. Tokido really failed aganist cody and guy (he never play final fight before?) two ex bingo (and 1 hurricane ex) at the corner and voilà akuma is ruined and run away with teleport and jump back air fireballs… and forgot to pay attention to the U2 charged, infact there is a sweep blocked punished also :expressionless: that are mine mistakes, not things expect to see from a japan topz (sponsored) xD the guy… guy actually play well imho.
