Yeah, not many high bp Guy players in europe, hehe! you played him before?
Hey, I believe this is the appropriate thread to post this.
I have created a basic how-to tutorial for Akuma as part of a class I’m taking in college. The video’s main focus is to showcase Akuma’s safest and most basic 50/50 options after 4 knockdowns: sweep, df palm, df throw, and forward throw.
I’m posting it here to hopefully get some feedback as far as setups. Please let me know if anything is incorrect, as well as thoughts on the video itself, like usefulness etc. If people like the video, I plan on creating a more exhaustive one.
Thanks!
*Note: This is the first video I have ever created, so the editing sucks, be kind.
this is a fantastic video.
well done!
@lollo steppedfreeenz, yes hes fairly capable
Yeah his pressure game is really good. Getting cornered is a real nightmare
Hey guys, here are some video recordings of the various ways Abel can be swept. I’m sure I haven’t gotten all the permutations of getting the right range where he can be swept. But the interesting thing is. I don’t think it’s the actual distance Abel is when he falls from the light tatsu that he can be swept because if you see the corner combo after 3X strongs, I land very close to Abel after he floats after the lk tatsu and I still can sweep him. Mysterious… Anyways I hope you guys enjoy it.

I think it’s MK. That’s the one I do anyways. MK catches TPs, goes through EX-PC and catches their tail after they’ve passed through you… though I’m not sure what happens against EX-SK.
I think HK loses to EX-PC, but anyone feel free to help me out
edit: I think with the HK tatsu, if the bison ex-DRs out they have time to land and U2 because your HK tatsu ends.

Great match! Starts at 1:42.
Stream with Eita vs randoms, lol at Eita trolling that Rog in there 2nd match.

The Rog in the second set of videos? Theres no trolling there, that Rog was just really good.
Shit, Eita beasted over those guys. He also almost never teleported, even when he could have.
Guy can punish teleports for free, balrog has Z E R O mixups on your wakeup, why would you even want to teleport and risk getting baited?
Because Rog can dominate you with his footsie pressure.
It was there 2nd match in the first video. The Rog kept blocking so he went for demon flip throw like 3 times in a row. Then he tried finishing the match with constant overheads.
Footsies on wakeup???
Sorry but if rog is standing next to me on wakeup i’d rather block a rew jabs and maybe get thrown than teleport and risk eating a full ultra for 500 damage
And getting thrown resets the scenario, or frame trapped into a sweep.
There are reasons to port away from Rog and simply sitting there puts you at a disadvantage and makes you too predictable. The threat of a teleport needs to exist for opponents to respect your wake up.
The fact that you HAVE a teleport (and a 3 frame dp, just sayin’) should already make him respect your wakeup. Sort of like Fei and Cammy using their U2 vs akuma…they actually never trigger it, but just the fact that they HAVE it makes Akuma respect their wakeup a lot more.
Besides, I’d rather block the first two or 3 jabs and teleport out as soon as i see him lose his back charge than just doing a teleport on wakeup with him standing next to me anyways.
I’m not saying to NEVER use teleport, don’t get me wrong. It’s just that 90% of Akuma’s defense simply sucks so they resort to wakeup teleport way too much…like 9 times outta 10 lol. And that’s just plain wrong. Obviously there’s loads of scrubs who don0t know how to punish you for that so it’s all good most of the times, but if someone’s wakeup defense sucks, as soon as they get tp play vs someone who’s competent they’re gonna get trashed.
Cammy is the best example of this…lots of players let you teleport both on wakeup and during their dive kick pressure…but as soon as you meet someone smart and with decent reflexes they can just ultra you on reaction EVERY time.
Try playing bushinnr1 And say again balrog has zero mixups on wakeup.
enlighten me, what can he do that can be classified as a “wakeup mixup”?
Meaty c.mk, meaty c.lp, walk back and forth and try to throw you, empty jump to bait your reversal…what else? His overhead is slow as shit, his low rush punch is either mad unsafe (non ex version) or can be seen from a mile away (ex version)…he has no crossup so you don’t have to worry when you see him jump…
Balrog is a lot scarier when you’re standing then when you’re waking up.
PR rog beat tokido by having a rock solid defense and by playing great footsies, not by mixing him up on wakeup lol
