We already defeated Sheng-long! The Akuma Video Thread

How is this done? I’m shitty with tele xx U2. Any video examples?

:looney: … good joke . lmao And if you are serious then LMAO!

It’s basically just doing a preemptive backwards KKK teleport and cancelling into U2 only if you see a dash punch. So, you will be losing position you guess wrong, but it’s not like you’re taking any damage.

Input should look like (from 1P side):
:l::d::db::l::ub: + :3k:

So, this will execute the KKK teleport and buffer one :u: motion for the U2. So, after you do this, just go back to neutral with your stick, and then press :u: + :3k: to activate the U2 if you see a dash punch or TAP.

OK well Richard I have been still using both U1 and U2 against Rog but have recently decided to mostly stick with U1 now. Main thing is that U2 strengthens my vortex, but I’m pretty confident with my vortex and more worried about getting them into the vortex. U1 seems to help with that much better.

How would you land U1 though?

Suppose if they are not thinking you could use your normals, bait the dash punch and cancel with demon. Same with TAP through fireballs. Baited headbutts, if they backdash just anticipate and sweep.

Yeahh, but punishing those random ex dash punches and TAP’s through fireballs is like a gimmee and not many good players will do them too much. So I guess, against bad players you can use U1 in these situations. But U2 would work as well, and I am just heavily biased in the Roflcopter.

Plus, if they TAP through a fireball, you can just do an unscaled U2.

I don’t know, but I would recommend using U2 for this matchup 100%, hands down.

The same can be said about punishing wake up options of Rog with U2. Good players won’t open themselves to that either, but you seem to find it a great selling point.

Unscaled demon is better than unscaled U2 tho.

I can’t agree with that. U2 is a “win more” option in the Rog fight. It strengthens your game where Akuma is already strong against Rog. U1 helps in the footsie battle, where Rog is stronger than Akuma.

Just knowing that you can safe palm OS U2 and beat every wake up option will really force Balrogs to just block… eating 500 damage every time you wakeup backdash, headbutt, or TAP isn’t something you should take lightly. Once this happens, they will be completely open to demon flip throws and other mixups.

So, it´s sort of like the tiger knee motion from ST?

Go suck on something. My question wasn’t even directed towards you.

Thanks a lot. The input diagram was very clarifying. Will practice.

I just don’t get this. I don’t see how U1 can help you in footsies.

You’re welcome.

Well I mean you can cancel sweeps and whatever into it. If you ever see an EX rush you can cancel into ultra. Buffering jabs after fireballs is much better than buffering up motions and making sure you don’t jump. It also anti airs, etc. Which I guess you can kinda call gimmicks but I still feel much more comfortable with this. When U2 gets a better startup (and maybe if we’re lucky a better motion) I’ll probably go back to it in this matchup but sometimes I react to a dash punch but too many motions and too slow of a startup can make it come out too late sometimes.

Also I might as well ask you now Richard: is U2 cancellable in the last 9 frames (non-invincible ones) or just all the other ones, cause I try and test it (without a video) and it seems that way.

Also a nice little buffer to use against rog, is c.mk buffer teleport buffer U2. I posted this quite a while back but yeah the motion is pretty hard. Pretty much the same as how you’d buffer shoryuken off a c.mk poke to beat a dash punch, you can do it like this to get your ultra. Haven’t really tested it but most of the time for non-EX moves you’ll get a CH (making it easier to ultra if you screwed up your buffer a bit, though c.mk xx teleport xx ultra does combo if you’re fast) and ex moves would obviously eat the c.mk and then get hit by ultra. I’m just not sure if this works on ex dash low though but that is definitely by far the least used of his ex moves.

My motion is: :db::df::db:+:mk::ub:+:3k::l::ub:+:3k: pretty much just ride the square gate. I’m nowhere near consistent at this though. Easiest way is to record akuma doing heaps of these buffers then do all the dash punches with rog against the dummy and see how many of your buffers worked.

Rog can’t jump, TAP or ex rush. Each of those Rogs like to use during footsies at one point or another. Having U1 stocked will let you punish those attempts and keeps your pokes rather safe.

Most might find it boring, but I figured I’d post it. Lemme know what ya think

Well, i always thought Ult 1 was best for Balrog, but i went to Planet Zero last night for the weekly tourney, and Four Wude - Adeel landed a whole bunch of Demon Armageddons on the Balrog players, i heard him explaining to some people that Ult 2 is the way to go, and after seeing him destroy Balrogs wake up options with it, i have to agree now.
I recorded the Grand Finals between Adeel [Akuma] and Juan [Balrog]

[Also, i got to play in the tournament, the two characters i had to play against, Bison and Blanka. o_O just my luck, oh well, it was fun either way, Adeel was giving me advice while i was playing the Bison player, his advice was the only reason i won a round in that match.]

The thing is Akuma destroys Rog’s wake up option without U2. Rog is at the mercy of Akuma on his wake up, no matter which ultra you pick.

.

Either ultra is good. I keep going with U2 because it makes him afraid of reversaling. However, the best side of using U2 against rog is that it makes your teleporting safe. I’ve got my teleports punished a lot with Ultra, ex upper into combo and all that stupidity Balrog has, and having U2 stocked make him unable to punish it. Against jumps you can always shoryuken, better yet since he thinks that you don’t have a good anti air and you do.

I am starting to prep for a tourney I am going to over Christmas break so I am working on getting back into the grove. I could tell this guy was mashing crouch tech so I made him pay for it on several occasions.

I also played a few against Gootecks, but asking his permission to upload it.
