We already defeated Sheng-long! The Akuma Video Thread

No, he was just doing an ambiguous juming lk, I believe. In the setup he was doing, the jumping lk has to be blocked cross up but then Akuma lands in front of the opponent. And if they don’t quickstand, he does a lk demon flip mixup.

Major props for the unblockable setup, with enough training I could definitely see someone doing this consistently.

Here are a couple I missed.

So with testing I MIGHT have found a way to block it… kind of.

As Ryu try going from crouching to stand blocking the crossup (so down to forward). The timing is super freaking strict but I did manage to block it like three times.

Also is EX Shoryuken a viable option to get out? They land really far away, I guess you could cancel the OS Sweep into a Demon if you have it.

Altogether this is an amazing tool though, thanks.

Here’s a video:

First, I want to note that Ryu is getting reset out of the air when he does his :hp: srk in that video. So, that means the setup was done one frame late. Do the st. mp one frame faster and it should be perfect.

Also in that video, he’s doing the option select sweep wrong. It’s a jump lk option select sweep and then jab to fierce. So, basically if they did a Shoryuken, the Shoryuken should whiff and only a sweep should come out, NOT cr. lk and then a sweep.

So, the notation should be:
j.:lk:, land with OS cr. :hk:, cr. :lp:, st. :hp: xx lk Tatsu

You should basically be hitting the :lk:, :hk:, and :lp: in rapid succession for this to work.

Still awaiting processing on my upload, I will edit this post when I’m done. HP.srk wiffs in my video

Edit: Still processing, will check back in the morning.

Yeah, it was basically just to demostrate that it’s unblockable. I didn’t bother doing the full thing since my camera looks like crap anyway. The shoryu’s were basically to explain that you don’t get hit.

Okay, with the help of ShadyK, there is actually a really, really, really easy way to do it. It’s just actually the basic safe jump setup. So it’s:

Forward throw, double dash, jump forward and do an early jumping lk.

This was actually my first setup to get the unblockable but I kept on resetting Ryu out of his :lp: srk. So, I was trying to find other setups but this first setup is actually the besttt. The one thing you have to do is do the jumping lk earlyyyyyyyyyyy. This is because jumping lk has 6 active frames and you only want 1-2 active frames in play because if you have 3 or more, you will hit Ryu out of his lp and hp srk (because they have 2 invincibility frames).

I would still do the option select sweep because if you don’t, you might accidentally reset Ryu out of his lp srk with your cr. lp when you land.
(Remember that if Ryu lp srks, OS sweep comes out but you can recover in time to do st. hp xx Tatsu.)

Alternatively, you can just not do the option select sweep at all and instead start off with cr. lk (since this will whiff against a lp srk), but it will make your combo weaker.

So, this makes a very consistent setup with the only escape being focus absorb dash out (and also the one that WonderChef pointed out, but that is a very inconsistent way of getting out). So, I guess iffff people catch on to FADCing out, you can just do the jumping lk and then walk forward and punish him.

I find that early j.lk crossups don’t give enough hit stun to combo off of. Maybe I’m just not linking fast enough but whenever I hit the very tippy top of a character with a crossup j.lk I can’t get a cr.lp or cr.mp to combo off it. I’ll work on my execution I suppose

great find btw

It should be easy because there is actually an additional 2-frame buffer window during the landing frames.

So, even if there was only 1 frame for the cr. lp to link, it is actually a 3-frame window, which is relatively easy.

I just setup shadyk’s version and it is very simple to land and combo off of. I made sure I was doing it 100% right. All srks whiff and not matter which way I blck it hits.

I tried these in vanilla and couldn’t do them. Even the apparently easy double dash technique was blockable after multiple tries. Maybe it’s my suckitude or something about the moves involved changed allowing them to work in Super but not vanilla.

Hahha, well he helped me with just sticking with the double dash setup. And after many tries, I got to the realization of doing the jumping short early. This early jumping short can work with my previous setup as well.

I also played with tokidos lp srk juggle in the corner, works much like your setup rich, if you’re late on mp whiff. Its interesting to note that from midscreen it safejumps bison, since he has a slow wakeup time.

Yeah, I tested the lp srk on Bison also. Gonna use that now. You can’t option select against EX psycho crusher though in this setup. :[ Oh well at least he’s burning meter to do it. You can also do a mk demon flip palm after this lp srk also for a safe mixup against EX psycho. Mix it up with df throw and it should be pretty good.

And the lp srk will not setup a safe jump against Rufus. His EX Messiah is fast enough to punish your trip guard (11 frame startup compared to the 14 frame startup for EX psycho).

Yeah I checked rufus. Although in the corner its safe since it crosses over then again that goes for everyone. Although his u2 still wins. :/. Dudleys is obvious. Luckily you can treat his uppercuts like sagats. Juri ibuki and makoto all seemed to trade or get stuffed. Seemed very distance specific. Makoto and juri trade but ibuki gets stuffed if distanced off a c.jab s.fierce. Up until here I was doing c.lk.c.lp c.mp . Abel blanka and gen all can beat it. Then of course the shotos which are obvious.

I ran this in training a while back. Basic fierce, tatsu, jab shoryu combo then jumped in and attacked. Rufus’ EX Messiah Kick was getting blocked on ‘reversal’. I’m not sure what that is if it’s not a true safe jump. Perhaps it has something to do with how quickly you SRK them after the tatsu; because there were some times where Akuma got hit. I re-recorded enough times after that to be confident that it worked though.

It mighttt be that, but it probably is because of the quick standing window. You can actually delay the quickstand by a few frames, which is what you probably did in your test. With the fastest quickstand timing though, Rufus will be able to hit Akuma.

Ah, I see.

In any event, I’m not a fan of the LP Shoryu combo finisher. You could do more with a cr.MP reset and you only lose 10 damage.
