Still watching it–ah, thank you for being able to pause TV–and it’s so satisfying to watch Sebastian make an ass out of himself before getting eliminated.
Schadenfreude almost never fails.
Uh…see the preview for the next episode.

This show…
wow.
The limits they place on the games and actual competition are so fucking stupid.
Does anyone know where the chat or stream for this is? The one that Keits was talking about.
Oh, only if you provide the link. I gotta wait for the episode to be uploaded to Hulu cause I don’t have cable.

I agree. Me and my mom were discussing this tonight as we were watching it. She’s not a major league gamer, but she does play a little bit. The usual stuff girls would play, Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, that kinda stuff
Even she agrees that there should be more actual game footage than there is drama/real life challenges. How does being able to drift IRL/slide around on ice prove you’re the Ultimate Gamer? IMO the “Gauntlet” they did at the end of Season 1 should be something they should be doing every episode, crazy challenges like that. Racing Upside down, playing 2 instruments at once in Rock Band, etc. And actually show some damn footage of them playing.
Nah that shit’s stupid too. I just want simple stuff. See earlier in my thread blasting the Mario Kart. For NHL:
PICK THE DAMN TEAM YOU WANNA PICK (as long as it’s a normal NHL team, no all-star teams or create a players or shit like that).
And no score comparison against the fastest goal. Put head to head. Round robin or double elim. Awww baby doesn’t have time? Don’t have some gay ass real life challenges that are poor ratings gimmicks that don’t work.
Have a good commentator that can actually explain a thing or two and bring sincere hype. Or at least commentate the game.
For more perspective of how poor the emphasis is on gaming, most of the remaining players only gamed (not including practice) for a grand total of 10 minutes over three episodes. That’s 5 minutes for Tekken 6 (some didn’t get that far…), 1 for Wii Sports Resort 3-point challenge, and 4 for NHL 11. Yaz’s elimination round victory took 12 minutes of regulation, plus whatever for the shootout, meaning he played more during that one sitting than Justin has for 3 whole episodes.
Give me Johnny Arcade and Video Power.
Justin got booted cause of a driving game?
You can’t script this shit! Should of move to L.A sooner and get that driving experience son!
A regular audience wouldn’t be able to follow a typical shoutcast. Watch any shoutcasted video of any game and think if the average person would be able to follow.
Nope.
The commentator on the show does what he’s supposed to do - explain in easy to understand, broad strokes what you’re seeing.
If the show were the way people here are asking it to be, it would be CGS all over again - a flop.
TV shows need to be entertaining. Watching people play videogames isn’t entertaining to anyone but the few thousand fans of that specific game that watch tv. Every attempt at a “serious” videogame show has flopped. Gamers don’t watch them. Regular people don’t watch them.
Go watch Sony’s The Tester, or something. That one had zero gaming.
+1
Nice! Someone who understands the reality of TV. A part of which, reality TV shows like this one have to follow the trends of if it wants to stick around.
Hey Syxx, you got a problem ?
And everyone quit baggin on Faye. Just enjoy this crappy show.
Oh wait. lol.
All that isn’t exactly true. I believe one fault is on advertising a couple ones in the past I just accidentally had found it and those didn’t even have games featured that I played, but I still enjoyed them for treating them respectfully and professionally. If someone is really passionate and creative in their thinking and advertising, then they could get at least decent ratings.
He’s just trolling, and Faye is a part of the show so she’s a part of our discussion.
Better advertising can’t do it alone, though. Content matters. To get ratings high enough to stick around, a show needs to draw the attention of mainstream viewers. There’s no way around it. If you can’t draw in the mainstream, you won’t last long on TV. CGS’s advertising, IMO, was great! It presented itself as something new, something daring to be different, and something going against TV trends and stereotypical views. It focused on the games, and presented each of the players in likeable fashion (and as NORMAL/non-sterotypical people). MANY gamers were watching. But it wasn’t enough to keep the show going. And while there is something to be said about being exclusive to DirecTV limiting access to potential viewers, it still illustrates the point that not enough mainstream viewers were drawn to watch.
While it’s pretty sad that a show like CGS can’t last more than 2 seasons, yet crap like Survivor and American “Pick Who You Like Best, Not The Best Singer” Idol keeps going and going and going, that is the trend, and that is why WCGUG2 puts gimmicks over gameplay in its attempt to draw the attention of those who don’t know any better. Anyone bothered by the gimmicks THAT much really SHOULD stop watching because this show is not meant for you.
Where’s the proof that the person in question was actually AJ? I’m assuming this was said in a chat, not on an actual stream because wtf would AJ be doing ON a SF4 stream? It’s HIGHLY unlikely that AJ was just chillin in an SF4 stream and just HAPPENED to decide to blab about the results.
Also, why would he have ANY information as to when or if JWong got knocked off the show considering he got sent home and had zero friends in the house (I seriously doubt Faye would call him up and be like “LOL JWONG GOT KNOCKED OFF TEH SHOWZZZ!”, and even if she did what are the chances, like I said, of him being in the random SF4 stream chat)?
The best part was when Jake blew up in this weeks episode. What a psycho. Especially when he woke everyone one and started threaten them. “YOU DON’T MESS WITH SOMEONE IN A POWER POSITION!!!” What a douche.
There never has nor will there ever be a good reality tv show. Except for Top Shot, that show kicks ass.
I don’t know stuff like the history and discovery channel stay around and your average person will say that shit is boring, but it’s still around. I think a better more dedicated show can survive on a game-specific channel but there’s no such thing right now. You’ve got channels for history, geography, zoology, food, and science fiction buffs, but not one for gamers.
i’m pretty sure i saw him and rachel(or someone else) at summer jam a couple weeks ago. could have been that one. I could be confused with someone else too considering how generic he looks.
