Same here. My life’s kinda dull, other than that, things are good.
An all out match between Oro and Gouki would be awesome, I’m a big fan of each character. I like Oro in this match up, but I can’t see this fight being Gouki’s finale. Also, Oro isn’t going to live forever. Imo, it’s pretty even; to close to call.
That ending alone doesn’t prove that he did, but it coincides well with Chun-Li’s ending where it indicates that she destroyed Shadaloo without having to fight Bison.
I coulda told you that a while ago.
Tiamat: Berias, does fanfiction suck?
Berias (trying to play SF3 on a default DC controler): Not now, dammit! THAT WAS A DRAGON PUNCH YOU PIECE OF SH!@#!
nevermind
“Then we’d see Shin True Monster Gouki Akuma Raging Demon Man on CvS3, who can shot eye beams and has a 39,000 hit Shun Super Saiyajin Goku Satsu Murder, with the stamina of a two month old baby who was born 7 months prematurly. Bah, nevermind. Let’s just leave it to speculation.”
Hahaha, some Cap USA guy probably read that and thinks its a great idea.
I have some questions:
Was Guy as strong as Ryu during street alpha?
You said that Guile won the sf2 tournment, but this is impossible, Guile is supposed to be very weak during street alpha, how could he become so strong for sf2?
and about the storyline faqs: And even if guile won the tournment this does not make him the main charachter of sf2! Who are the ones that appears in the intro? Ryu, Cammy, Chunli and Akuma, NOT GUILE! The cursor of the player 1 appears above Ryu NOT above GUILE… If he is the main charachter because he won the tournment… in the anime Yuyu hakusho there is a big tournment in the last chapters, and the main charachter and the main villain were defeated, they did not won the tournment.
I am not a newbie here, that was my first post, but I have been reading this post since page 20 of the FIRST one… I never made a post before because I forgot my username…
What I am saying is that Tiamat’s SF plot faq says that Guile is the main charachter of SF2 and that is not true! Even if he won the torunment, he is not the main charachter just because something like that happened!
Somehow I doubt you just didn’t post because ‘you forgot your username’.
Second, Guile IS the main character of SF2. The main plot of the Second tournament is revenge, Bison vs all those who he thinks wronged him. That’s Ryu, Ken, Chunli, Guile, T.Hawk, Cammy, Feilong and possibly Sagat.
Of that group it’s MOST IMPORTANT to the characters of Guile, Chunli and T.Hawk to beat Bison and resovle their storylines with him. Especially since Bison DIES at Akuma’s hands afterwards.
Going by what we know happens in SF3, Chunli destroyed Shadoloo as a detective not a fighter, while T.Hawk and Guile have retired. And the only way either of them does retire is if one of them beat Bison. Since Guile is the more important character it’s likely that he did defeat Bison and then retired.
Guile is the main character of the Second WW tournament. Capcom may not have intended it to be so, but thru their numerous ret-cons of the SF storyline thru upgrades and the Alpha series, that’s how it turned out to be.
So Guile IS the main character of SF2? I can accept that, but I’ve never looked at Guile as the main character. The SF2’s have always led me to believe Ryu was THE main character and that Guile & Chun-Li were secondary main characters.
I think it was sheer fancanon and fancanon alone that propelled Ryu to main character of SF2, because he was the main character of SF1 (so people just assumed that the main character of the first should be the main character of the second). Storyline-wise, he does nothing in SF2. He has no interactions with ANYONE in his endings and there is no indication of any of the villains caring about him except Sagat, who didn’t even GET TO FIGHT HIM AT ALL in the tournament, and all he does in his ending is say “Oh, I won. Time to walk off into the sunset.”
Typically, the main character has something to do with the main storyline, of course. The SF2 tournament was hosted by Bison for some evil deeds and such. Ryu had absolutely nothing to do with those evil deeds for the most part. He just joined for the fight, fought, then walked off into the sunset. Not really a very main character of the story, I’d think. The definition of main character is that the storyline revolves around them [the most]. How can Ryu be the main character if the only other character in SF2 that remotely revolved around him was Sagat, and even then, the two didn’t cross paths? The main villain of the story didn’t interact with him at all within the game and neither did Akuma…
With the statement that Bison held the tournament for revenge, it makes Ryu even less the main character due to the revenge theme.
Ok, I understood. I thought that to be a main charachter you only needed to be the one that has the longest time in the intro…
And if you do not believe that I forgot my username… I registered in Nov 2001, and I have no posts in any forum.
I’ll say this only once: Get rid of that stupidly long signature.
From smashz :
> What I am saying is that Tiamat’s SF plot faq says that Guile is the main charachter of SF2 and that is not true!
Well, he’s a bigger candidate for “main character status” than Ryu is in SF2. I think that Capcom actually said that Guile was the main character of SF2 (and not just CapUSA taking that approach for their lameass US storyline - y’know, the one where Charlie = Blanka? shudders), and it’s not Tiamat just pulling that out of his ass.
Storyline-wise, Ryu is a total non-factor in SF2.
> Even if he won the torunment, he is not the main charachter just because something like that happened!
Not necessarily, but it’s a good start. Ryu was the main character of Sf1 and he won that tournament. Alex was the main character of Sf3 and he won that one. We acually aren’t sure who won Sf2, but the likeliest candidates are Guile and Chun-Li (and to a lesser extent Cammy), since they’re the only ones whose story depends on them beating Bison.
looks above Dammit, I missed another page of replies. Oh well.
Concerning this mess with Final Fight taking place in 1989, I’m inclined to believe it’s Capcom forgetting their own timelines. Until Capcom says otherwise, I say we ignore it.
Hey guys, if Yun & Yang weren’t trained by with their grandfather and/or raised by their grandparents, then why does Yun say:
“I’ve beaten a girl. Grandfather will scold me!” after defeating Elena in SF3:NG? I hate to use EGM as a source but in an old issue that covered SF3:NG (the characters, moves, fighting system, etc.), it stated that Yun & Yang were trained by their grandfather. It’s just a thought. Peace.
